View 7 RepliesIs a registry cleaner necessary? On almost all of them I've used, it detects tens or hundreds of "problems" that need to be fixed, on freshly installed systems too. And after fixing them, if I run another scan, it finds even more! Does it make my system "faster" in any noticeable way? It seems to cause more problems than it fixes.

View 8 Replies View Relatedhave just purchased winferno registry power cleaner,and is expecting a lot from this software,since it is a mcafee product,or anyway i have bourght it on their site along with 4 other utilities,does anyone have any experiense with mcafee utilities in general.the reason for the purchase is that i for a while now,have had security from mcafee in form of total protection 2011-2012 and and all acces,onlie backup and god knows what.Expensive yes but efficient oh yes,it has saved my system many times when i surf on risky sites.It is not a secret that i am very pleased and impressed with mcafee in general,and i would recomend it to anyone without ecseptions.

I dont know enough to go into registry and make manual changes. I always used latest version of regvac (registry cleaner) for win xp. I am now using cc cleaner and registry mechanic with windows 7 64 bit. The regvac site it says that iregvac s compatible with win 7-32 bit and does not mention win 64 bit. Author or regvac emailed me that it wont restore 64 bit registry in restore option.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've unistalled Amd Driver from Device Manager, Unistalled Catalyst software and ran Driver Sweeper. There is only 3 registeries that the Driver Sweeper CAN'T delete and these are under SYSTEM folder. I've tried to change user privilegies but this far I've not succeeded.

(I already read and understood your message: don't use those tools and stay out of your registry. A lesson I learned too late, unfortunately.)My computer rebooted and after a couple of minutes I noticed the message: " failure configuring windows features reverting changes ". I managed to bypass this loop by running in safe mode and recover my computer to a restore point in the past. This only worked partially: I get windows to run in normal mode but I get this message: "system failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. Restore point damaged or was deleted during restore". So it didn't restore but I can get into my windows now.So I don't get the 'reverting change loop' anymore, so I can access my computer but what's the mess? Well my computer is slow as hell.Like mentioned above, I already looked around on this forum and wrote down what I already tried. [code] My computer is terrible slow because of a registry defrag/optimization of a registry tool (in combination with windows update) --> I need to find a way to get back my old registry files but system recovery ain't working.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI searched but couldn't find anyone else with this problem. I'm running 7 Home Premium 64bit. I've tried everything and had a Pro try to solve this also with zero results. Somehow, Media Center has attached itself to every exe. program/file and I'm not able to open Firefox, Chrome, System Restore, regedit, and on and on. IE 8 does work. I managed to run a free Norton scan which showed NO virus. Remote access from Cloudeight to repair was thwarted, so no help there. I cannot run Malware Bytes or any other cleaner, so really need some expert help. This is being typed on my Gateway XP Pro.BTW, I was using MSE.

The control panel isn't even accessible, it opens itunes instead, it looks like that has been hijacked also. There is a PC cleaner that looks like it was recommended for a similar problem.Will this cleaner fix this problem? Does anyone know if this is even safe to try? I'm having difficulties scheduling a task for when computer is idle. What I want to do is run a task after the computer has been idle for five minutes. I've tried creating a scheduled task in different ways, which will do this, but to no avail.I go to Task scheduler to create a task:
General Tab
Give the task a name, put the check box to run with the highest priv., and configure it for Win 7.
Triggers Tab
New, Begin the task on idle, Repeat task for 15 minutes indefinitely, Enabled.
Action Tab

Now from what I can gather from this is that every 15 minutes, the computer will run the task if the computer stays idle for 5 minutes. Say, I start the computer and leave it like that, then the task should run after 5 minutes. Then after 10 minutes, it will once again start checking to run the task.
I am trying to determine what the use of the backup section of the Back up and Restore screen is for. Is it just for doing file backup or is it intended to be used also for Full System Image backups also?
