Schedule To Wake Up Or Turn On?
May 7, 2011How can you schedule your Windows 7 to wake up or turn on on a specific time.eg. my IDM starts work at 1am. i sleep before 12. I dont want to waste energy to keep my computer fully on this whole hour (electricity is expensive here).I've tried to schedule it, but it keeps failing. I dont know why.

a. Open the "Start" menu.
b. Type %Windir%Inf in the "Search" box and press "Enter".
c. In the window that opens, find the file named "dfrg.inf".
d. Right-click on "dfrg.inf" and "Install."
B:
a. Go to "Start > type cmd" on your computer.
b. copy and paste this text rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %windir%infdfrg.inf and press "Enter"
c. Click "OK" to make the program automatically reinstall itself.
C:
a. Go to Start >All Programs>Accessories>Right Click on Command Prompt> select "Run As Administrator"
b. At command prompt, type regsvr32 dfrgsnap.dll and hit "Enter."
c. Type regsvr32 dfrgui.dll and hit "Enter." This will reinstall any missing defragger files.
C Drive Does Not Appear In Disk Defragmenter?
Aug 2, 2010I was going to get around to defragging my C: drive today, (which I don't actually remember if I've ever done in Windows 7) and when I opened the Disk Defragmenter, the C: drive doesn't show up, and as a result I can't defrag it. I have an HP Probook 4510s.

Mar 12, 2012I was just wondering if anyone might happen to know as to why Drive C: which is my primary operating system drive that I have Windows 7 installed on is not showing up in the list of drives that can be defragmented and as to what I might be able to do about it.I'm hearing the drive access things a lot and when I've run Checkdisk and had the computer restart it's indicated that there have been orphaned files. I've uninstalled and wiped the system several times but to no effect and at the moment I just don't know as to what could be causing it and what I can do to fix it.

Nov 16, 2012Running Windows 7 Profesional SP1 64bit, I have an SSD system drive at C: and a hard drive installed as D:. No firewall or a/v software running on the system. Logged in as an admin.
When I click the shortcut at Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter, nothing happens. Same thing if I click 'Defragment now...' from D: drive properties > Tools.
Shouldn't I see some type of user dialog box? The program linked to is called dfrgui.exe, so I expect there should be some kind of GUI.

Nov 9, 2009When I open disk defragmenter it doesn't list my C drive -- which is the primary internal HD on which the OS, windows 7 64 bit, is installed. I have another partition that came with my computer (Dell Studio XPS) on which Dell has some a backup recovery image on, and this drive 'Recovery (D' _does_ show up. Just the 'OS (C' drive does not -- which happens to be the drive I'd like to defrag.I haven't tried any other defrag programs yet. I'm the administrator user on this computer if that's relevent. Also, if I go to properties on my C drive via my computer and click defrag from there, it'll open disk defragmenter and still just list the D drive.

I have copied NTBACKUP and it's two associated .dll's from an XP box to my Windows 7 system; ntbackup runs if activated manually but scheduled tasks don't run.

Schedule A Task For When Computer Is Idle?
Jun 22, 2011I'm having difficulties scheduling a task for when computer is idle. What I want to do is run a task after the computer has been idle for five minutes. I've tried creating a scheduled task in different ways, which will do this, but to no avail.I go to Task scheduler to create a task:
General Tab
Give the task a name, put the check box to run with the highest priv., and configure it for Win 7.
Triggers Tab
New, Begin the task on idle, Repeat task for 15 minutes indefinitely, Enabled.
Action Tab

Now from what I can gather from this is that every 15 minutes, the computer will run the task if the computer stays idle for 5 minutes. Say, I start the computer and leave it like that, then the task should run after 5 minutes. Then after 10 minutes, it will once again start checking to run the task.
Is Backup Schedule Just For File Backups ?

Aug 24, 2011I have created a task that is suppose to launch Goldmine every day at a set time. The task appears to have launched successfully, ie Task Scheduler reports "The operation completed successfully." However I know it isn't actually launching.When I run the task manually the application never launches, when I check Task Manager the gmw.exe process is running but the application never opens, nor does it show in the application tab of Task Manager but whenthe task completes (Goldmine is set to shut down after 5 minutes) the task then reports as stated above.The Actions tab is set to "Start a program" and the path is the UNC path to the exe on my GM server.Security options are "Run whether user is logged on or not" and "Run with highest priveleges", the user account is a Domain Admin.
