This now happens about one out of three times I wake my computer.The computer turns on, but the display doesn't. It's not the monitor--if I power it off and on, nothing changes, but it will turn on as usual after I forcibly restart my computer. Every time this happens, my only option is to hold down the PC's power button until it shuts off and then power it back on. I've also checked all the cables.My guess is that it's the graphics card, though it's strange that it started recently--I haven't installed any video driver updates.The only change I can think of is Windows 7 auto updates that installed recently (none were for the display, all were for "x64-based systems").My graphics card is an EVGA 9600 GSO with 768MB DDR2.Windows 7 x64Hanns-G HH251 connected via DVI (video card end) to HDMI (monitor end) cable.

I'm having difficulties scheduling a task for when computer is idle. What I want to do is run a task after the computer has been idle for five minutes. I've tried creating a scheduled task in different ways, which will do this, but to no avail.I go to Task scheduler to create a task:
General Tab
Give the task a name, put the check box to run with the highest priv., and configure it for Win 7.
Triggers Tab
New, Begin the task on idle, Repeat task for 15 minutes indefinitely, Enabled.
Action Tab

Now from what I can gather from this is that every 15 minutes, the computer will run the task if the computer stays idle for 5 minutes. Say, I start the computer and leave it like that, then the task should run after 5 minutes. Then after 10 minutes, it will once again start checking to run the task.
I am trying to determine what the use of the backup section of the Back up and Restore screen is for. Is it just for doing file backup or is it intended to be used also for Full System Image backups also?

I have created a task that is suppose to launch Goldmine every day at a set time. The task appears to have launched successfully, ie Task Scheduler reports "The operation completed successfully." However I know it isn't actually launching.When I run the task manually the application never launches, when I check Task Manager the gmw.exe process is running but the application never opens, nor does it show in the application tab of Task Manager but whenthe task completes (Goldmine is set to shut down after 5 minutes) the task then reports as stated above.The Actions tab is set to "Start a program" and the path is the UNC path to the exe on my GM server.Security options are "Run whether user is logged on or not" and "Run with highest priveleges", the user account is a Domain Admin.

"powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" tells me that my keyboard is allowed to wake my computer
"powercfg -a" tells me that S3 mode is supported, but S1 and S2 is disabled (that's normal)

Solutions tryed, unsuccessfully:
- resetting BIOS/CMOS
- updating BIOS and all other drivers to latest versions
- disabling all other USB devices
- tryed every single USB slots, with and without USB hubs, usb2 instead of usb3 and vice-versa...
- tryed with two different power supplies
- tryed different keyboards
- tryed mouse instead of keyboard, LAN instead of USB...
Wake-on-lan stops working after being in sleep mode or off for an extended time (hours?). Bios is set correctly at S3, router port 9 correctly forwarded, W7 security is set correctly, and the NIC properties are set to allow magic packets to wake the machine. Everything works perfectly all the time over my LAN no matter how long the PC is off. When I send WOL remotely over the Internet it works fine in sleep mode or turned off for a while then fails. I have noticed after waking from sleep that the internet connection icon in the W7 tray indicates a loss of Internet but automatically reacquires after a few seconds. I think this is the root of mine and many other's problem. Something is shutting off the Internet connection. Because the system will wake over the LAN when this happens it proves that the bios, router, ans NIC are alive and passing the packets. My router and LAN IP addresses have not changed either. why the system would stop communication with the internet?
