if windows 7 has a built-in feature that allows a program to exit automatically, let's say, every 5pm at night.
I know that there's a scheduler to start a program, but not sure if it works to turn off a program? The reason I want to know is that I sometimes forget to log off my MSN, YM, Gtalk, etc from my workplace.
I have just managed to get rid of one nasty virus, and then installed the Service Pack 1 on my Windows 7 pro 32 bit system. The scans are clean and everything is running back to normal now, except this: I cannot access my online banking website. When I try to, the page does not load, and once that happens, no other page, in this or another tab, can load, and firefox will hang at exit (getting the "Firefox is already running..." message when trying to start it) and has to be killed in the task manager. While browsing in firefox then doesn't work anymore (no pages load), any other application using internet will still work (i.e. skype).
This happens only from this computer, using my laptop on the same internet connection (we have a Wi-Fi router and DSL internet in my flat) everything works fine. This happens with Firefox AND IE, except that with IE it doesn't hang and I'm still able to load other pages. I'm running Firefox 4.0.1 and IE 9.0.8112.16421. The website I'm trying to access is [URL] I've installed the latest Java : (Build 1.6.0_25-b06)
I was setting up a program to run at schedule and noticed Ccleaner in the task scheduler.I never use the cleaner per se, only some other features. Should I remove it(hilite and delete) or is it there because I have used the Application cleaner ?

I know that the answer to my question is easy, but when it comes to working with Permissions, I am an absolute dud. Anyway, I have two programs that I want to have open automatically when I boot up, Thunderbird and Maxthon. I have placed their shortcuts into the Startup folder. They do open, but when Maxthon opens, the User Control Box opens asking to allow program to make changes to the computer. This is my mistake in that when I set up Maxthon I inadvertently must have clicked a button that directed a permission OK. But, BTW, Maxthon shortcut->Properties->Advanced button->run as admin NOT checked??? I would like to undo the permission request so that Maxthon will open on boot up without having to do anything.

The problem starts when installing any program the computer set as default installation path the Recovery disk D which has my operating system. But installing Microsoft Office wouldn't fit in since there is not enough room and for any program. So I went and change the directory path before installing the programs to the disk C, and I have installed 4 other programs in the disk C but that specific program (Microsoft Office) doesn't install, is like the computer is still redirecting it to the disk D which is full.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm going to preface this with the fact I have a USB headset, is a logitech G35). The way it works is this. I'm playing SWTOR lately, it doesn't have an audio option to choose the audio device. When I played LOTRO, what I would often do is set it to play the audio through the speakers when I was on skype (or vent) so I didn't have to wear my headphones, as it tends to hurt after too long. I put the audio through the speakers (which I can do with skype) and just set them down on the desk to use the mic that way.
However, because SWTOR doesn't have an option to change the device that the audio plays through it automatically goes through the headphones. Now normally it wouldn't be a big problem because I'd just change the program to use the speakers but I can't in this case, so I was wondering if there is a hardware or software way to override that. because they are a USB set, you can't even just not plug in the speaker plug. I just have standard onboard sound, its just saying "HD Audio", its from a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard.
A program I have installed (Dead Rising 2: Off The Record) Fails to start, unless my speaker format is set to 24 bit, 48000 Hz Mode. My speaker format is normally 24 bit 192000 Hz Mode. I want to be able to make it automatically change to-and-from automatically, as the program is launched.

Specifically, I use FF as my default browser, but I would like to use IE for a couple specific links. There are 3 others that need the same information and documents at any given time. These 3 people have their laptops that are constantly switching wifi hotspots. They need to change information sometimes, and need access to all of it any time. The way its setup now is 1 person is on the main computer, but when one of the three need to access it, they remotely log in and take control. Only one person can access the computer at a time. How do I set it up so all four of these people can access and change the files at the same time if they want? The main computer is being used constantly, but someone always needs a document or file while the main person is working on it. So it slows production when someone logs in.

I have included the Minidump file, JcGriff File, and Health and systems report as per the BSOD posting instructions. A certain set of programs take over a minute to run. If I double click the executable it takes over a minute before the program launches.Equally attempting to access the file properties takes a similar amount of time.(the file happens to be audioconverter.exe (part of a set of programs to re-encode mkv's - e.g. strip out of the dts track and reencode with ac3, etc.)Only files in this set of sub-directories seem to be affected, the rest of the machine performs perfectly

View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom looking at others' questions, this seems to be a recurring problem under Windows for a long time. My version: running Windows 7, 64-bit, with Spyware Doctor. Several applications fail to close on exit, and I have to manually close them in Task Manager before they will work again. Always happens with Outlook 2007, Google Chrome, sometimes happens with Firefox and Acrobat Reader. Outlook also hangs on the last message in a "send and receive" operation.

For two nights in a row whenever I have put my computer to sleep before I go to bed it has not been able to exit sleep mode the following morning. The screens get no signal even the the computer is on. I should note that I have hibernation disabled on this computer due to the fact that the SSD boot drive is so small and an 8GB hibernation file would be too large. Instead I enter standby. I should note that last night as I was entering sleep mode I accidentally hit a key which caused it to come right back out of sleep mode before the fans had turned off.

Some programs it works fine, like chrome starts up with the bottom of the application on the bottom of the screen.However, Mass Effect 2 (I run in windowed mode) and Itunes both are not touching the bottom of the screen, there is a space where the taskbar was and the exit buttom is covered by the actual taskbar.

Because of recent troubles, ably resolved on this site, I had to temporarily shift many files out, and eventually back in. With lots of backup copies during this, the ending volume was about 8Gb.Then I deleted all the unneeded files.Previously the compacting variable was untouched, at the default of every 100 program exits, no problem. Now I set it to every 1. It refused to run. So I set it to every 2. It exited normally on the "off" times, but on the "on" time it produced the error messageThe folder is currently in use by WLM or another application"It does this even when I close everything, reboot and immediately run WLM and exit. And the message store is now up to 9Gb.
