I'm curious if there is a way to run a specific program when I choose to reboot into safemode with networking?
Specifically looking to run or make sure the service for Logmein starts. The work I have to do would be best done in safe mode, and of course connecting remotely would be great.
Can you turn UAC off for a specific program that you use regularly?

Anyway, I have two programs that I want to have open automatically when I boot up, Thunderbird and Maxthon. I have placed their shortcuts into the Startup folder. They do open, but when Maxthon opens, the User Control Box opens asking to allow program to make changes to the computer. This is my mistake in that when I set up Maxthon I inadvertently must have clicked a button that directed a permission OK. But, BTW, Maxthon shortcut->Properties->Advanced button->run as admin NOT checked??? I would like to undo the permission request so that Maxthon will open on boot up without having to do anything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed windows 7 to my inspiron 1720 which had Vista, everything was fine installing the new operating system. The problem starts when installing any program the computer set as default installation path the Recovery disk D which has my operating system. But installing Microsoft Office wouldn't fit in since there is not enough room and for any program. So I went and change the directory path before installing the programs to the disk C, and I have installed 4 other programs in the disk C but that specific program (Microsoft Office) doesn't install, is like the computer is still redirecting it to the disk D which is full.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm going to preface this with the fact I have a USB headset, is a logitech G35). The way it works is this. I'm playing SWTOR lately, it doesn't have an audio option to choose the audio device. When I played LOTRO, what I would often do is set it to play the audio through the speakers when I was on skype (or vent) so I didn't have to wear my headphones, as it tends to hurt after too long. I put the audio through the speakers (which I can do with skype) and just set them down on the desk to use the mic that way.
However, because SWTOR doesn't have an option to change the device that the audio plays through it automatically goes through the headphones. Now normally it wouldn't be a big problem because I'd just change the program to use the speakers but I can't in this case, so I was wondering if there is a hardware or software way to override that. because they are a USB set, you can't even just not plug in the speaker plug. I just have standard onboard sound, its just saying "HD Audio", its from a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard.
A program I have installed (Dead Rising 2: Off The Record) Fails to start, unless my speaker format is set to 24 bit, 48000 Hz Mode. My speaker format is normally 24 bit 192000 Hz Mode. I want to be able to make it automatically change to-and-from automatically, as the program is launched.

Specifically, I use FF as my default browser, but I would like to use IE for a couple specific links. I know I can just open IE but it would be convenient to create an icon/link on the desktop to the location, and when opened, to be opened by IE rather then the default program for that extension (FF).I just realized that I could make another extension, a new one not used by any program, and just make that extension opened by IE by default then rename the link on the desktop, I think that would work, but is there a way to edit the link and tell it specifically what program to use when clicked rather then the default?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have windows 7 64-bit with realtek on board sound and i can't get my mic to work and as i and my friend try to fix it we realize that that mic won't pick up my voice but my friends hear what i hear on the pc for example if i put a music on the pc from Internet my friend will hear the music but not my voice, i have a razer carcharias headset and yes i plugged it right and i even tried on my dad's laptop he has vista and it worked fine. and fyi my mic worked perfectly before but all the sudden it stop working, one dad my pc crashed because the graphics card got loose and i turned it back on and i realize my mic is not working anymore. i pretty much did almost all the procedures, will buying a sound resolve this problem, by sound card i mean a actually sound card or a external usb 1, it depends on which i can afford.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSeveral months ago my computer stopped picking up any wireless networks. I can connect using an Ethernet cable and a USB wireless adapter. I have troubleshooted and removed my driver and updated software; I even upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 hoping that might fix the problem but it didnt. I am thinking it may be my internal wireless card. So you recommend going to a hotspot to see if I can pick up there? I would think I would have to do that considering the USB adapter picks up multiple wireless networks but my internal one picks up none so I think that already rules out my router being a problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently ran a system recovery on my Samsung 305V and set it back to factory defaults. Now my problem is connecting to the internet. I have hardwired it to the router, also reset the modem and router several times. I disabled the firewall and tried running in safe mode with networking, everything has failed. I looked in the Device manager and there are no devices in the network adapter category besides two Bluetooth Devices. Under the Other Devices category it shows Ethernet, Network and SM Bus Controllers with yellow caution signs on them, I don't know what these are but I can't update the drivers on them or anything.

It seems to have found the NIC (evidently an Intel Pro/100 VE) just fine: [URL] .. but I'm not picking up an address from my equally-vanilla Linksys router. With the cable unplugged the network window looks like this:[URL]... and as soon as I plug in a cable it starts doing stuff:[URL]... further confirming my belief that the NIC is working and Windows 7 can see it just fine. But then it doesn't pick up an address. [URL]'ipconfig' in a CMD window confirms that it's using a self-assigned (169.x.y.z) address. This machine was online 2 hours ago with XP, so the NIC, cable, and router are all fine.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 4 port generic usb hub which I have connected to my computer through a 15ft usb extender (PC on a different floor then monitor). Now when I connect through the USB extender windows 7 does not pick up the driver and gives me a code 43 error, but if I connect the usb hub directly to my computer (not through the usb extender) the driver is found and installed. I cannot see why the USB extender causes windows 7 not to find the driver or show a code 43.

However when I load the disk select custom install and its asks me to select where I want the OS to be installed, I get an error message saying it cant find my HDD and I need to select the appropriate drivers.
I can see my Hitachi 500Gb in the BIOS, I have tried ATHC and IDT settings but still wont work. I have tried factory default setting in the BIOS but still Win7 cannot pick up my HDD.
The LED is flashing also to note that the Drive is working. Also Win7 wont let me format the disk either.

Error causes BSOD right after the windows logo. If attempting to boot into safemode, it just shows my mouse cursor and stays black. Nothing comes up.I have tried most of what I know what to try. I took my graphics card out (as someone on another forum suggested) and made sure the pins were all cleaned off. That did nothing. Since someone on another forum thought it was a graphics issue, my card is a GTX480 1536M GDDR5 384B Dual-DVI mHDMI (to be specific LOL)

1) Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
2) NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M
Currently it is using the Intel card for my built-in display on the laptop.The max resolution is only 1366 x 728. I am looking for any way to jack up the resolution.Is there a way to switch the built-in monitor's video card to the GeForce, with hopes that it offers a higher resolution?The only thing I could find is a way to utilize the Nvidia card for another monitor if I plug it in, but not for the built-in display of the laptop.
My computer's Stereo Mix option (Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, HP Pavilion p6330f) USED to be able to record my computer's audio fine, but now it no longer does that. It rather chooses to record exactly what my headset records. It may be worthy to note that I think it may have stopped working because of my new headset (Turtle Beach X11 series). However, going on this theory, I tried to disable the microphone and even use a different kind of microphone, but it still did not work.As I mentioned, I've tried disabling the mic and have looked through the options available on Stereo Mix and just can't seem to figure out why this is happening. I just want to be able to play music back on my microphone when I'm talking to friends on Skype.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop does not seem to boot into safe mode. I've been tapping F8, even though it says F8...system restore on the bottom left corner, it still won't boot. I tried this other method on advance recovery method and chose use system image created earlier - that and return to factory condition gave me an error saying "windows cannot restart the computer into the windows recovery environment." One method I haven't tried is using msconfig - in boot option. I'm worried about using this method..What if when I restart my laptop and it keeps loading to safe mode. I just did an sfc scan.I forgot what it said. It did found some corrupted files, and it repaired it. The reason why I want to use safe mode is to use this recovery disc - I notice that when I turn on my laptop, it takes quite a while to boot up. As a result, I also found that I have a problem with creating an system image. I want to use this repair disc, but I can't go into safe mode, so I can choose repair your computer.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just performed a complete re-installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x32 onto a friend's Acer Aspire 5920 which was previously running Windows Vista x32.
All was perfect until I installed a Java and a program that needed it. When I ran the Java dependent program, it came up with an error message stating that Java Runtime Environment was either missing or outdated. I then uninstalled Java and reinstalled directly from the Java website. However, on the verification screen after the installation, my Java was not detected and I was told that "Something is wrong. Java is not working."
I followed the troubleshooting instructions on the website and alas it still will not work/be detected.
I then went searching around online for answers and I ended up doing a clean boot in safemode. There I disabled all running services that were not from Microsoft. Then I revisited the Java site and it was able to detect it. However, after rebooting to normal windows Java still can not be detected even with not running the services I turned off in Safemode.
I have loaded window 7 32bit a while back and so far it has been running great. Since then I had a virus and I try to boot into safemode but when I hit f8 it just has a white curser flashing. If I let it boot by itself its ok it starts into windows. So I try to go into safemode by just powering off my laptop in window so it would kick me into safemode. It put me to the option of chosing which safemode but it freezes while i move the arrows. I try to boot it from my repair cd, it boots but when it asks to hit any key to start the boot, it freezes. I then backed up all my files and reloaded window 7. Still the problem is still there. I tried everything that I could think of. I don't know if its in my registry or the os disc. I scan the registry and its good. My hard drive is new 500gb western ditgital. I have a toshiba laptop satelite a215-s5818.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was instructed to remove my antivirus software and reinstall it by avast. They said to run their tool in safe mode. Try to start computer in safe mode and it gets just so far and reboots. I set MSConfig to boot as safemode/minimal. Do that and restart. Endlessly restarts - safe mode will not load, it just gets so far and then reboot.My computer will not start now at all. Can not get a command prompt, safe mode, and could not do a restore for some unknown reason.
