I installed windows 7 to my inspiron 1720 which had Vista, everything was fine installing the new operating system. The problem starts when installing any program the computer set as default installation path the Recovery disk D which has my operating system. But installing Microsoft Office wouldn't fit in since there is not enough room and for any program. So I went and change the directory path before installing the programs to the disk C, and I have installed 4 other programs in the disk C but that specific program (Microsoft Office) doesn't install, is like the computer is still redirecting it to the disk D which is full.
I have just installed Windows 7 onto my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. My laptop now detects a number of wireless networks in the vicinity but not my own. It is not a problem with my router because other laptops can pick up the connection no problem. I have Googled this problem and see a lot on issues with Windows 7 and picking up wireless signals. But I haven't seen any threads which deal specifically with the situation where only one wireless network cannot be detected.
I have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else. CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.
Okay, so I downloaded my copy of Windows 7 from DigitalRiver from the 741 offer for students. It gives me the three files as usual, but when I click on the .exe, I get a command prompt saying "Program is too big to fit into memory" before quickly closing.
I didn't even get this expandedSetup file that people are talking about, so I can't make a .ISO out of it or anything. I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit, attempting to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Preimium Upgrade 32-bit.
I've tried re-downloading it.
I've tried using a different computer.
I've tried increasing virtual memory.
I've tried running as administrator.
Nothing seems to work, and I'm beginning to think I'm the only one so far with this problem. I even asked my computer science professor, and he thought the lack of virtual memory was the culprit. I have 3GB of RAM, and was able to free up 2GB to no avail.
I'm curious if there is a way to run a specific program when I choose to reboot into safemode with networking?
Specifically looking to run or make sure the service for Logmein starts. The work I have to do would be best done in safe mode, and of course connecting remotely would be great.
I know that the answer to my question is easy, but when it comes to working with Permissions, I am an absolute dud. Anyway, I have two programs that I want to have open automatically when I boot up, Thunderbird and Maxthon. I have placed their shortcuts into the Startup folder. They do open, but when Maxthon opens, the User Control Box opens asking to allow program to make changes to the computer. This is my mistake in that when I set up Maxthon I inadvertently must have clicked a button that directed a permission OK. But, BTW, Maxthon shortcut->Properties->Advanced button->run as admin NOT checked??? I would like to undo the permission request so that Maxthon will open on boot up without having to do anything.
In the 'open with' context menu, I accidentally changed the running program for ALL the icons on my desktop . So now, all the icons on my desktop are identical and all of them run using the same program
i have a weird problem. I cannot run Microsoft's Age of Empires online, because an error msg appears -> Basically I must enable it in Parental Control. Now this is the problem. I use a custom Windows 7 install, I removed many parts of the OS to speed it up, and I removed parental control as well. So basically I don't have parental control in Windows, but this game is keep asking for enabling the game there.I registered on the official forum and tried to get some help...no luck. How could I solve this problem? AFAIK I cannot "download" Microsoft Windows 7's parental control and "install" it. I don't want to install the full OS just because of this, and I don't want to create another custom Windows 7 with parental controls enabled.
if windows 7 has a built-in feature that allows a program to exit automatically, let's say, every 5pm at night.
I know that there's a scheduler to start a program, but not sure if it works to turn off a program? The reason I want to know is that I sometimes forget to log off my MSN, YM, Gtalk, etc from my workplace.
i want to stream a specific video program to my computer. their specs say that abobe flash player on 64 bit is not compatable. i have windows 7 64/32 bit. will this work. or what do i have to do.

I've searched and searched but I can't seem to find a working solution. I want to start a program on boot/login (Windows 7) for a specific user. The program in particular: WAMP (for web development). Is it possible to start a program on boot/login for only a specific user, and not every user account.
I'm going to preface this with the fact I have a USB headset, is a logitech G35). The way it works is this. I'm playing SWTOR lately, it doesn't have an audio option to choose the audio device. When I played LOTRO, what I would often do is set it to play the audio through the speakers when I was on skype (or vent) so I didn't have to wear my headphones, as it tends to hurt after too long. I put the audio through the speakers (which I can do with skype) and just set them down on the desk to use the mic that way.
However, because SWTOR doesn't have an option to change the device that the audio plays through it automatically goes through the headphones. Now normally it wouldn't be a big problem because I'd just change the program to use the speakers but I can't in this case, so I was wondering if there is a hardware or software way to override that. because they are a USB set, you can't even just not plug in the speaker plug. I just have standard onboard sound, its just saying "HD Audio", its from a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 motherboard.
A program I have installed (Dead Rising 2: Off The Record) Fails to start, unless my speaker format is set to 24 bit, 48000 Hz Mode. My speaker format is normally 24 bit 192000 Hz Mode. I want to be able to make it automatically change to-and-from automatically, as the program is launched.
Is it possible to make a link on the desktop, or elsewhere, and when opened, to open it with a specific program rather then the default? Specifically, I use FF as my default browser, but I would like to use IE for a couple specific links. I know I can just open IE but it would be convenient to create an icon/link on the desktop to the location, and when opened, to be opened by IE rather then the default program for that extension (FF).I just realized that I could make another extension, a new one not used by any program, and just make that extension opened by IE by default then rename the link on the desktop, I think that would work, but is there a way to edit the link and tell it specifically what program to use when clicked rather then the default?
I am Continously getting this error "Program too big to fit in Memory" whenever i am trying to install any Game (or any dos installers).i tried reinstalling the windows, with different discs, different versions 32 bit - 64 bit,Formatting the Hard disk from Dos, Ubuntu.i have also tried updating bios, increasing the size of Paging memory,Modified registry as mentioned in other Posts, Updated all the drivers,Fully updated the Windows.

I can't open the main folders like documents, etc. I can't open Control panel. It keeps saying error Explorer.exe There is not enough memory to run this program. Exit one or more programs and try again.
I am new to Windows 7 and I have a question that I need an answer to if at all possible.I was told there is a way to force a program to use all of my processors and Ram memory. I need to figure out if this possible and what I have to do to accomplish this.I am wanting to force a video game to use all four processors and all/ more Ram memory than the game was designed to use. According the Game manufacturs/ producer I was informed to use Msconfig to set up this procedure and for it to work properly. Is this correct or is there a different way I can force this game to work better?
I'm interested in using a Virtual Memory program so I can try applications such as Windows Home Server and perhaps Windows Server 2003. I've been looking at a program called Windows Virtual PC. It looks like it has two components - Windows XP mode and Windows Virtual PC. Which of the two programs I would use.
Lately when I try to use my contact directory by clicking on TO: to find an email address it tells me I am "Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs & try again."
I have windows 7 OS from last few days I am unable to copy, paste & delete data from any external drive.I have updated Antivirus I have scanned my PC but atlast result is same.
I have a laptop computer with Windows 7. This morning, every time I try to enter any program, I get a message which reads: Choose which program you want to open this file". This has never happened before. I tried going into Safe Mode, but the same message pops up when I attempt to open any program there as well. I tried scanning the computer with AVG, but am unable to because I get that same message. Is this some sort of virus? And what can I do to remove this message?
Also, I'm unable to go into regedit. I got a message which reads: File not found.
EDIT: I am able to access my programs in the Start menu. Now, I'm thinking that I might need to delete my shortcuts and replace them with new ones.
So I've been trying to uninstall a program off of my programs list and it continues to tell me that I am unable to do so because I am not the administrator. My account on my computer is the administrator account and it is the only account on my computer. This is the message it keeps telling me, "You must be an Administrator to remove the application. To remove the application you can log on to an Administrator account or contact your technical support group for assistance." I don't understand why it keeps telling me this because I am the administrator for my computer. I don't know how to go about approaching this problem and fixing it so any.
when trying to vurn a pre recorded tv program I get this message:
"One or more of the files you have selected is not a supported file and can not be added to the list", even a Non copyrighted one.
Using the original Vista, sp-1, there was no problem. After upgrade to Windows 7, recorded file types has been change from "Windows Movie" to "Windows TV", not even Nero can recognize the new extension.
Most of my Windows Live Mail contains embedded links. When I click on those links, I expect the URL there to be transferred to Firefox. Instead, I get a cryptic message from Windows Live Mail, "There was a problem sending the command to the program." Is there some simple trick that fixes this?
i m using window 7 64 bit. i m unable to uninstall the program(dirt 3) as by mistake i deleted its installed files from program files folder. now its shows error when i tries to uninstall it from control panel.
