Applications Do Not Close On Exit
Mar 8, 2011From looking at others' questions, this seems to be a recurring problem under Windows for a long time. My version: running Windows 7, 64-bit, with Spyware Doctor. Several applications fail to close on exit, and I have to manually close them in Task Manager before they will work again. Always happens with Outlook 2007, Google Chrome, sometimes happens with Firefox and Acrobat Reader. Outlook also hangs on the last message in a "send and receive" operation.

For two nights in a row whenever I have put my computer to sleep before I go to bed it has not been able to exit sleep mode the following morning. The screens get no signal even the the computer is on. I should note that I have hibernation disabled on this computer due to the fact that the SSD boot drive is so small and an 8GB hibernation file would be too large. Instead I enter standby. I should note that last night as I was entering sleep mode I accidentally hit a key which caused it to come right back out of sleep mode before the fans had turned off.
Games Does Not Stop After Exit?
Apr 27, 2011When i exit a game i open the Task manager and the game is still running there and if i try to stop it its still there and it the process dosent stop . I have two partitions which in one i keep my files and folders and the other its the windows7 32bit which i currently using . Is there a way to stop this ---S: i have the cd of windows 7 - is it possible to move the programs to the other partition - install a new windows 7 and then like make the extension of the progam to pick from the other partition

Some programs it works fine, like chrome starts up with the bottom of the application on the bottom of the screen.However, Mass Effect 2 (I run in windowed mode) and Itunes both are not touching the bottom of the screen, there is a space where the taskbar was and the exit buttom is covered by the actual taskbar.

Dec 2, 2011I have recently moved to Windows 7 (upon getting a new motherboard installed) and 2 weeks later. I cannot start up as I get a 'Restart from Hibernate' message on screen but nothing further happens. I have tried a 'hard restart' from power off several times, allowing plenty of time for capacitor discharge etc but get the same message. More worrying is that I cannot find any way to get the pc to start in safe mode or use restore as Windows 7 seems almost to be bypassing the bios. Holding down delete on startup shows the first line of the bios screen then moves immediately to the hibernate message. It seems to move into that screen before the keyboard or mouse are activated. How I can get out of hibernate?

May 10, 2011I have just managed to get rid of one nasty virus, and then installed the Service Pack 1 on my Windows 7 pro 32 bit system. The scans are clean and everything is running back to normal now, except this: I cannot access my online banking website. When I try to, the page does not load, and once that happens, no other page, in this or another tab, can load, and firefox will hang at exit (getting the "Firefox is already running..." message when trying to start it) and has to be killed in the task manager. While browsing in firefox then doesn't work anymore (no pages load), any other application using internet will still work (i.e. skype).
This happens only from this computer, using my laptop on the same internet connection (we have a Wi-Fi router and DSL internet in my flat) everything works fine. This happens with Firefox AND IE, except that with IE it doesn't hang and I'm still able to load other pages. I'm running Firefox 4.0.1 and IE 9.0.8112.16421. Feb 19, 2010I've assembled a new computer and everything is good, but when I put my Windows 7 Ultimate disk the Windows Loading is starting then the animation, but since then the screen is completely black. I waited at least half an hour. I tried to replace the disk drive and the IDE cable, but no change. I put the disk on another computer, and it works properly and displays the screen with the blue Windows 7 background where the installation begins (and asks for the installation language), instead of that black screen.

Windows 7 Startup Animation?
Oct 6, 2009I have installed Win 7 RTM on several PCs and I like the new Win7 animation (the windows colors rotating then merging into the logo symbol). For some reason on my HP Mini 5101 this animation is replaced by the older Vista animation (the line of dashes moving left to right over "Microsoft Corp".. Is this "normal" or is there something I can do to change it to the Win 7 animation?

Oct 5, 2009I am sure everyone recognizes this: at almost every startup, you see the boot animation. Windows 7 uses those 4 colors that merge into a Windows flag.
But the animation freezes at a random moment, then after 3 seconds it disappears and there we have the normal menu where you choose a profile to login with.
I want to see the animation completely, so making use of those 3 seconds where the OS is loading to continue the animation.
You have this in Windows XP too, where the loading bar freezes.
Are there any solutions for this? It would be fantastic to see the Windows flag at the end, and not just those 4 colors about-to-merge.
10 Second Delay Before Startup Animation?
May 6, 2011When it came back I installed everything and whenever I start it up there is a 10 second delay before the startup animation starts. then it takes its normal course. When my bootup starts now it seems as if it has a much longer bootup than before I rmaed it and it is quite annoying seeing as I have to shut it down because it will not resume from hibernate or sleep.
