itunes somehow changed the icon of all of the apps on my computer to an itunes icon and they all go to itunes now. The control panel isn't even accessible, it opens itunes instead, it looks like that has been hijacked also. There is a PC cleaner that looks like it was recommended for a similar problem. Will this cleaner fix this problem? Does anyone know if this is even safe to try? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Lo! Yet another Windows 7 activation hack appears. This one's a little more creative in that it doesn't require an OEM key at all, and instead bypasses the verification DLL completely.
The new hack nullifies sppcompai.dll, and even deactivates all the reminder popups that would otherwise ask you to activate indefinitely. But don't expect the party to last long. This crack closely mirrors an old Vista key workaround, and if Microsoft patched it easily then, they'll patch it easily now.
The crack is possible probably due to leniency allowed on the part of Microsoft on [the] activation mechanism to avoid getting too many false-positive or complaint on activation error
It just sucks that this game will continue. Microsoft obviously wants to make activation as painless as possible, but will probably beef up the security next time to fix these sort of exploits. Like most of you, I'm sick of DRM causing headaches for the ones who legally purchased the software, and developments like this certainly won't help.

I'm trying to downgrade from iTunes 10.5 to a version that doesn't crash (see my previous thread). However, whenever I do this, I cannot import my Library file (.itl) because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
I'm trying to ugrade from Vista to Widows 7 but keep getting the follwing message: [code] The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.Windows needs to be restarted so necessary changes to system files can be made before continuing. These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.) iTunes (Please deauthorize computer prior to upgrade)I have already deauthorised it but it continues to come up.
I want to rid of my computer of anything apple related. I am getting sick of everything being confusing and difficult to use. And the new ITunes update did not work. Problem is I have an IPhone. And can't sync without ITunes. I've heard something about winamp able to sync IPods, but cant find much info on it. I could care less about backups and all the other garbage ITunes offers. All I want is a way to play music on my computer and also move that music to my IPhone. Nothing else.
I have Windows 7. I was installing i-tunes and when it asked to restart my computer I restarted it. When it logged back in the desktop was like in the beginning - the desktop theme was some default picture not the one I had put on, no additional programs were not installed and the worst part - my user folder on the desktop was completely empty! All of the folders My Music, My Pictures etc. had only Sample Pictures and Sample Music in them. I tried searching for my files but they cannot be found. Even worse - in My Computer the Local Disk is shown to be almost empty, like all of my files hadn't been there. So is there any way I can find and restore my files?
I use iTunes on my Windows 7 computer to sync with my iPhone, and the last time I went to open iTunes it gave me the error message "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."I had heard that if I uninstalled Quicktime (which is bundled with iTunes when that is downloaded), then reinstalled it separately, it would work again, but after trying that it didn't. So I decided to just uninstall iTunes, then reinstall it. However, every time I try to uninstall it in Add/Remove Programs, it just sits there saying it'll be about eight more seconds to go to finish deleting, but it just sits, and sits, and sits...... Nothing. I also tried to just install the newest iTunes on top of the existing one, but every time I try it tells me that it's already installed and to click "Ok." So I can't uninstall it, nor can I install it, nor will iTunes open on its own. I had done a system restore recently, so I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
Is a registry cleaner necessary? On almost all of them I've used, it detects tens or hundreds of "problems" that need to be fixed, on freshly installed systems too. And after fixing them, if I run another scan, it finds even more! Does it make my system "faster" in any noticeable way? It seems to cause more problems than it fixes.
I searched but couldn't find anyone else with this problem. I'm running 7 Home Premium 64bit. I've tried everything and had a Pro try to solve this also with zero results. Somehow, Media Center has attached itself to every exe. program/file and I'm not able to open Firefox, Chrome, System Restore, regedit, and on and on. IE 8 does work. I managed to run a free Norton scan which showed NO virus. Remote access from Cloudeight to repair was thwarted, so no help there. I cannot run Malware Bytes or any other cleaner, so really need some expert help. This is being typed on my Gateway XP Pro.BTW, I was using MSE.
I have Windows 7. Can I download <span class="item fn"> Wise Registry Cleaner from this site or is <span class="item fn"> Wise Registry Cleaner not available for windows7?
have just purchased winferno registry power cleaner, and is expecting a lot from this software, since it is a mcafee product,or anyway i have bourght it on their site along with 4 other utilities, does anyone have any experiense with mcafee utilities in general.the reason for the purchase is that i for a while now, have had security from mcafee in form of total protection 2011-2012 and and all acces, onlie backup and god knows what.Expensive yes but efficient oh yes,it has saved my system many times when i surf on risky sites. It is not a secret that i am very pleased and impressed with mcafee in general, and i would recomend it to anyone without ecseptions.
Is there a Registry cleaner there is safe, what about Winferno Power Registry Cleaner for instance,And is Ccleaner safe if you use the default settings, what cleaners do YOU use(if any)to maintain the stability of windows 7,or to get a decent boot time;or what ever. There is doubt about that the registry is filled whit "Things" you do not need, even on windows 7,what to do about it is another question. On this Outstanding forum,i have got the understanding, that the most respected oppinion about maintance, when it comes to w 7,that the system maintain it self, and that the system tools is more than enough,Correct me if i am wrong.
Recently, when I was having a problem with crackling noise on my HTPC. I took the suggestion of one poster on the forum, who suggested using a spray such as this, because it sounded good to me. However after doing so, instead of crackling, there was no sound at allI've replaced the card, but now am wondering if I should ever use that cleaner on a computer component or not? Not sure if it matters, but it is the CRC brand
Do I need a registry cleaner with win 7 -64 bit and if so please suggest one that will not screw up windows 7-64 bit. I dont know enough to go into registry and make manual changes. I always used latest version of regvac (registry cleaner) for win xp. I am now using cc cleaner and registry mechanic with windows 7 64 bit. The regvac site it says that iregvac s compatible with win 7-32 bit and does not mention win 64 bit. Author or regvac emailed me that it wont restore 64 bit registry in restore option.
I already know how to schedule CCleaner application cleaner to run automatically and have done so in my system. To schedule CCleaner's registry cleaner to run automatically?
The program in question was stored in drive D which is a partition of my main drive. Even CC cleaner cant even find the program. So how do I get rid of the program? I can't just delete it to free up space cant i?
I have downloaded the realplayer setup; but when I try to run the setup, it works; but when it's almost done it tells me that it could not find a file called real cleaner.
i have installed itunes because i would transfer some of my music liberary to my buddys ipod but it wont even syncronize, and i have tryed to leave it alone for almost 3 hours, and nothing happens besides it(itunes)uses all my cpu but only half of my ram,i should mention that i have 4 gb ram?
i got real problems this time,my laptop acer 7736z,its using too much cpu allmost 100% all the time, and the issue has started after i installed Itunes,i was trying to transfer music to a freind. BUT it will not syncronize itunes with the ipod,or it will, but there it stops, and my pc is not responding at all,i should mention that my OS is window 7 home premium 64bit and my anti-virus is mcafee total protection 2012.
I have tried using the 64 bit version of itunes on windows 7 64 bit. What I noticed immediately was that windows 7 installed it under the x86 program folders. When I am running iTunes it freezes ALL the time making it completely useless. Especially when I am downloading...it simply stops downloading and stops responding. Does anyone have a fix for these issues or am I on my own till M$ starts releasing some updates. At this point I am currently switching my system from a main OS of windows 7 to a vista-7 dual boot because of this issue.
I have over 3,000 music files, and I would like to know the best way to get them into iTunes. From a lynda.com training video about using iTunes, I learned that there is a folder called "Automatically Add to iTunes", which is monitored by iTunes for new files to import into the iTunes library. However, I would like to know if this is the best way to do this. For example, can I just *move* my 3,000 music files into this 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder and then let iTunes do its thing?* ill iTunes *move*the files that it is able to manage*OUT*of this folder and into one of its managed folders, such that there would be no duplicate file left behind? Is it correct in saying that the files that are left in this folder that were not able to be handled by iTunes and must be handled differently before they can be imported into iTunes. Or is there just an all around different, and better, way to get these music files into iTunes?
The other question I have involves 'restoring' a previous iTunes library that was backed up to disc (CD or DVD). I have a couple of these and want to _merge_ them with my existing (current) iTunes files, but in a way that I don't have 2 folders for some artists and double tracks, etc. How can I *best* import these iTunes library back ups into my latest iTunes installation.Last is a question which is about ripping my audio CDs into iTunes. I have 2 optical drives on my computer, and I would like to know which one will be most efficient at ripping audio CDs into iTunes. Is there someway to test the read / error correct speed of both drives to get an idea of which one is going to be faster?
I have just found to my irritation that iTunes _will_ check CD info such as song names etc. ....however....
Every now and then it fails to find info. It almost seems as if it does not even try. Usually when I insert a CD, it tells me it's checking with Gracenote, and in short order the details pop up. Then suddenly it will just not get details. I have read the instructions and reasons why.
What does not make sense is that in two instances, Disc 2 of a double disc set will register, but disc one will not. This has happened with Physical Graffiti, by Led Zeppelin, and a Best Of by Faith No More. Of the maybe 1/2 doz CDs that have failed so far, the others were single disc. The failures have failed in spite of repeated attempts, restarts and even a reboot. All the failures were pretty popular, and what I thought were far more obscure stuff worked fine.
EDIT: I now have three double CD sets that have had the first disc fail, while the second gets info. So that is over-represented, but not exclusive: that is to say I have had double CD sets that worked, and single CDs that have failed to supply info from the web.
