View 3 Replies View RelatedI have disabled my Windows 7 log on prompt option, in order to run my "Auto Power on" application to log on automatically and schedule to start my torrent application.I have achieved disabling the Win 7 from asking from log on user name and password by Go to Start and type netplwiz in the Start Search and hit EnterThe User Accounts dialogue box will be displayed.NOTE: The abve image is I have just taken from the web for the reference and it is not the real imageNow uncheck Users must a enter username and password to use this computer option and pressOK. Thats all, now reboot your system and you will never see the login window any more. But after now I want to set back to normal default prompt screen while logon. In order to do this the OS is asking for administrative password, but in that prompt dialogue box, it is not allowing me to go ahead and enter my administrative password by enabling "YES" button(the yes button is disabled).NOTE: The above image is the real issue which I am facingThe actually problem is the dialogue box prompts and asking to enter the administrative password when ever I try installing software, but it is not showing any text input box to enter the password and also the "yes" button in the box is not enabled, only I can able to click "no" button
View 1 Replies View Relateditunes somehow changed the icon of all of the apps on my computer to an itunes icon and they all go to itunes now. The control panel isn't even accessible, it opens itunes instead, it looks like that has been hijacked also. There is a PC cleaner that looks like it was recommended for a similar problem. Will this cleaner fix this problem? Does anyone know if this is even safe to try? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Hacked (Again) for Keyless Activation
Lo! Yet another Windows 7 activation hack appears. This one's a little more creative in that it doesn't require an OEM key at all, and instead bypasses the verification DLL completely.
The new hack nullifies sppcompai.dll, and even deactivates all the reminder popups that would otherwise ask you to activate indefinitely. But don't expect the party to last long. This crack closely mirrors an old Vista key workaround, and if Microsoft patched it easily then, they'll patch it easily now.
The crack is possible probably due to leniency allowed on the part of Microsoft on [the] activation mechanism to avoid getting too many false-positive or complaint on activation error
It just sucks that this game will continue. Microsoft obviously wants to make activation as painless as possible, but will probably beef up the security next time to fix these sort of exploits. Like most of you, I'm sick of DRM causing headaches for the ones who legally purchased the software, and developments like this certainly won't help.
I received my new laptop from the administrator at work, it came with a browser and recycle bin on the desktop. I found a work around for removing the recycle bin so that is no prob. However...
When I delete the browser icon it asks for an administrator login (which I have been given) I enter this and the icon is then deleted. However the icon keeps coming back! This seems to happen when I log back on or sometimes just after a few hours.
I have an Acer laptop which came with one user account, Acer, with the administrator right. When I tried to rename it to Administrator or administrator, I got an messages saying that user name has already existed
View 1 Replies View RelatedI followed the procedure found on the web, I entered "netplwiz" and did unchecksers must enter a user name and password to use this computer". There is no password setTHere is just one user/account which is obviously also the administrator. (the Account tab shows also HomeGroupUser$, but I guess is a default option...)the point is that when I switch the pc on, I have to click on the icon of the user account in order to see the desktop. Is there any chance I can login automatically without even clicking on the user icon
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows 7 Pro 64x and apparently the default user account (Owner) that I use is not working correctly. Unless I have UAC set to Never Notify, I cannot open Control Panel or UAC again. I have created a second user account as Administrator and it works correctly.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem short of a clean install of Windows. If not, is it possible to move all of my settings to the user account that works correctly and delete the one that does not.
I'm hoping to teach Mum how to use my PC in the near future and she will only be using it for typing etc and maybe the internet. Also she only use it sometimes. shall I create a Limited User Account for her or turn on the Guest Account?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would appreciate any help identifying the cause of extremely slow log on times for a user account on our family laptop. The machine is running Windows 7 - 64-bit version, and currently has 3 users accounts 2 admin and 1 regular. The regular account has begun to experience log on times that last for minutes (The Welcome splash screen prior to log on screen), while the admin accounts have no problems. I have seen other posts regarding slow log on times, but I haven't seen those which address the issue for a specific user account.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI put a folder in my admin acct it also appears in the guest acct which is dangerous. I need both acct's but how can I put is only in admin. When I delete it from the guest acct is disappears from the admin acct too.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have always been running admin and even until now I run as admin. But, I have been doing a little bit of research and realize that using a standard account is a safer practice. I have never even used a standard account. Is using a standard account a better practice? Also, how does doing average task such as installing programs and updating work through the standard user account?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently logged onto my account about 2 days ago to finish a project. The music file I used for the account was could not be found and when I went to locate it I was told I didn't have administrator rights. I went to Control Panel because I was sure I was an Administrator, but sure enough, I was set as a Standard User. I tried changing it up but it wouldn't change. I tried changing the account name also, and it wouldn't change. I could only change account picture. I can't open UAC, I click it and it blinks but nothing opens. I deleted any recent program installations,I booted in safe mode, however I was still not able to change my account,I tried activating the hidden administrator account but I received an "access denied" message,I tried creating a new account but I received the following message:"The specified account name is not valid, because account names contain the following characters: /[]":;|<>=+,?*Please type a different name."I didn't use any of those characters in the account name.I ran 2 different virus scans, and they came up with nothing,I turned the computer off, unplugged everything, and pressed the power button for 30 seconds, and rebooted, but still nothing! My roommate shares this computer with me, and her account is still an administrator. However she has traveled and I haven't been able to get hold of her yet. We share music files and the file I was trying to use is in her account.why my account was changed and how I can change it back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend and I share my laptop. Recently I found out that he was watching porn on my computer. So I promptly confronted him, and told him to stop. Weeks later, he did it again. So I downloaded Norton's Safety Minder to prevent it. So this sneaky prick goes around and enables the guest account, and lo and behold, porn fest again. What can I do? I don't want to keep him off the admin account, because he plays games on here, but I don't want him watching porn on my laptop either. Is there a way to put parental settings on the guest account? I know you can disable it, tried that, he just re-enables it, then disables it before he gets off. I'm really frustrated about this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio, and never had issues.recently I had this situation where some software doesn't run properly on my main account (admin) but only in a secondary account I had created the software is installed without problems, but then it fails to run properly as an example I have a small car speed detector which has a software to download journeys. it doesn't run as it should on the main account no matter what I try. similarly i bought a Sony Bloggie and its portable software as well as the main software that came with it don't work properly, but they do on the other account, so I (annoyingly) have to switch users, and run the software there, and then go back to my main account.I suspect some anti-virus or other stuff from my main account is "blocking" things somehow. I also had a number of instances where I get alerts like "windows cannot open this file for security reasons". I have tried to change security settings, firewall settings but nothing worked.there was a general security level that required admin status to lower, yet although I obviously am admin, windows wouldn't allow me to do.

View 9 Replies View RelatedFirst,I have to say that I am not restarting my desktop quite ofen, and I'm not even shutting it at all,and today, for some reason(there isn't any!),I've restarted it.And that was the dumbest thing i could do!Yesterday evening, since my primary partition isn't so big,and I was downloading several big torrents in same time,I was counting will I have enough space on drive(question of megabytes),and cause of that,I have erased all system restore points, took a little space of system restore space, and made just one restore point. This morning,I have take a look at torrents, and everything seemed a bit slow, and CPU meter wasn't dropping under 40%,so I decided to restart it.And here it is,a problem,it jumped out like a wild cat from a water. After restart,I've got"Caution, you are logged on as a temp account and it will be erased after you log off"(or something similar, can't remember exactly).Just to let you know,I have turned of logging cause nobody else is using that desktop.I have searched all PC to find my temp account folder, and I'founded it through user accounts, but there is no way that I can see it in a folder view, and there is no space on drive C: either, beside it,I've found another account, probably that is the new one which is erased every time I log off(I tried it couple of times),named exactly the same as my old one.If I try to copy my old account to another partition,I can't do it.
I tried to use system restore, but there is a message"There is no system restore points" even if I know that I made one,and system restore is turned on.I am not smart enough, and simply I don't know what else to try.And the best thing is that I was just about planning to install(with making back up of all my passwords, mails, documents and other stuff which I need,of course, and not like now, with losing everything) a 7022build,and maybe a day or two ago,I was asking about what of backup software like Acronis or Norton ghost is compatible with windows 7 so I can make backup on fresh install. Please, don't ask "How comes that you don't have back up?"

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read pitting imaging against registry backup which are clouding my choice.
1-Erunt requires that you turn UAC off for ERUNT and not to use it automatically. ERUNT has not been updated since 2005.
2-System restore and Norton = must Norton turn tamper protection off to restore.
3-system restore = do not use safe mode(good back up) but you cannot restore afterwards.
I have 2 questions, assuming the above is true;
1= does registry backup cause more trouble than imaging.
2-Acronis and Macrium are good but is Win 7 back up restore as reliable with 64 bit? It is limited but I am concerned about the reliability as oppsed to the other two.
All of the icons disappeared. How do I get them back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have HDD Hitachi 80 gb. before, I intend to re-install the hard drive with windows xp, after page division of the partition appears, I see a dynamic drive with a capacity 765XX Mb with a drive letter listed like this (- so i delete the partition and then I create a partition 30 GB for C: and rest for D: then after installed, my friend told me that in fact there are a lot of data in it that 75% is owned data.
how could I? I still can restore its data with the abstractions of folders and files as before? I've tried Active @ Partition Recovery from boot disk. None outcome. found multiple partitions ... but I can not recover
I try not to lift the partition. then I use File Recovery again ... I just found a Folder is missing the rest are listed! LOST & FOUND! with millions of folders and each folder in it only consists of 2 3 or 1 files uncovered.
