I have a HP G62-225DX Notebook. My Notebook doesn't go forward after displaying ress esc key for startup menu". I press esc key but when I press f11, it doesn't run recovery which I have in e drive. All I see is a blinking curosr "-" and notebook doesn't go forward. Is there a way I can run recovery from e drive.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 2 year old Dell Desktop with Win 7 (64-bit). Recently, over the last 2 months or so, my PC refuses to boot correctly. As I press the Power button for booting up, the the monitor goes into standby mode and remains black / blank, while seemingly the desktop boots behind-the-scene. I get no error beep or message optherwise. If i keep on pressing the ESC key immediately after pressing the power button, after a while, it proceeds with the normal BIOS check and booting process. I'm flummoxed. This happens 90% of the time, but then again, not 100%. What does the ESC key have to do with correct booting procedure and how come this happening to me at this stage. No new hardware change has occurred.

I also put in the disk in and it runs normally from desktop. The CD is a little scratched, but I don't think that is the problem. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Proffesional x64. I used the Asus CD to install all Asus stuff. Even the ones I don't need.
My notebook as two graphics cards. The default Intel Onboard card and the more powerful 1GB nVidia GeForce GT425M 1GB video card. Before the upgrade (which was a clean install) when I played a game (left 4 dead2, call of duty: black ops) the notebook automatically switched from the Intel to the Nvidia graphics card. But it doesn't anymore. I have read that my notebook used Nvidia Optimus technology to do this.

I have a notebook asus that doesn't have a disk drive or whater its called. I accidently turned my computer off while it was just starting to configure windows. I tried to turn it back on but it just says launch star up repair (which says it cant fix the problem) and start windows normally (which just brings it back to the original screen.

Windows 7 behaves as though dual display is working even though monitor 1 does not display. It's the same for single display, the monitor will not work on cable 1 except at startup.Both 'Extend these displays' in Windows Screen Resolution and 'Extend' in the Nvidia Control Panel is selected. And changing which one is primary does not turn on monitor 1. When I click the "Shut Down" button within windows, the computer will restart and not shut down.
When I physically HOLD DOWN the "Shut Down" button on the computer case, the PC restarts.
I do not have any BSOD's. I do have a memory dump file that say's to be 470,628KB in size but I can't open it.
I have tried disabling my overclock and I have left my overclock on and it DOES NOT make a difference. When I press the "Shut Down" it restarts. When I hold the "Shut Down" button down on my case, it also only restarts.
I would like to add that my motherboard has "Shut Down" button as well and a "Restart" button on the Motherboard, when I hold the "Shut Down" button it also restarts.
I was starting to think about the small 30 Gauge wires that have the super small headers, you know the ones that go to the bottom right of the MOBO, I was thinking perhaps that I got those mixed up in different spots.
But that doesnt logically explain or solve the problem I have from shutting down from within windows, does it?
Whenever I log in or any account logs in explorer.exe doesn't load.I don't have any viruses, restore didn't work, running sfc /scannow at the moment.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI started my computer this morning and it went straight to a black screen where I have to pick from two options:Launch startup repair or Start Windows normally. If I start normally, it just restarts my computer and goes back to the black screen. If I launch the startup repair, it goes to a screen with a Windows-style background and stays there doing nothing. From what I've seen online, there should be a window where I can choose to repair or reinstall Windows, etc. but I don't even get to those options.
I tried starting in safe mode and it looks like it's going through a long list of system files, then it stops and restarts my computer and it goes back to the black screen. Every solution I've seen online requires that pop-up window, which I never get to.
I also tried booting from my recovery discs and they just take me to the blank Windows background again. My computer was fine last night when I shut it down and I haven't downloaded or installed anything in ages.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Emachines E627 laptop. Last night I was doing some school work on my laptop, but then my laptop freezes, gets the blue screen of death and turns off. I then turned it back on, and the Window's screen pops up, quickly goes to startup repair and then it does the repair thing. After about 5 minutes into it, it freezes for about 10 min, then says: "Your computer will now turn off". So, it turns off, I turn in back on again, it goes to the windows start up screen, and does the same process over again

I tried booting my Win 7 64 bit recovery disc (aka system repair disc) but in the second screen where it tells you to select an operating system, it is blank! I attempted to add hard disk drivers but i couldn't figure out how. So i pressed next and got to the screen with various options. I selected "Startup Repair" but that won't work. Originally I tried starting up normal, it gave me two choices: system repair or start as normal. If I chose normal it would show the windows logo then reset. If I chose repair it would turn black for several minutes, then go to a blue screen for several minutes and wouldn't move past that. So i tried to boot from CD. I have the option of installing windows or repair. I chose repair, once again it goes to the blue screen and nothing happens (and I've left it on this blue screen a good 15 min mind you.) Finally I submitted and decided to just re-install windows. it goes to the starting setup... and sits there indefinably.

It just hangs there indefinitely (usually only takes a couple seconds) and doesn't load. I then tried startup repair, and that just takes me to a black screen. After that, I tried putting in my Windows 7 boot disc to do a clean install, told the BIOS to boot to CD/DVD drive. It tells me to press a key, I do. I get "Windows is loading files" and then it goes back to "Starting Windows" forever, yet again. This happened so suddenly, it was working fine just hours before this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWant to know if their is anyway to make my laptop startup w/o showing error when it doesnt properly shutdown.My keyboard shorted out,wiggled the ribbon & the connector came off the motherboard.I have no usb keyboards.So if i don't shut down properly,it shows the error message with options.Usually startup repair is highlighted by default.And since I have no keyboard to change the option,it starts that automatically after countdown & I can't cancel it.
It's very irritating.I just been using the on screen keyboard,I actually don't mind that.I know just shutting it down properly will fix this.But their is times where I lose power to laptop sometimes.Im not a noob,I normally leave my laptop plugged up w/o battery when I use it.Sometimes the plug comes out(dogs knock it out etc.).I know most laptops are supposed to stop sending a charge to batt once it's 100%.But I think it's bs & don't trust it.My preference & opinion
