Keyboard / Mouse Works On Boot But Not Login?
Jan 12, 2012trying to recover from a system crash here.. One of the issues was me not being able to install/uninstall microsoft antivirus, since it seems some files were deleted which it needed. I tracked that issue to yet another issue what windows installer could not start, which suggested me to check if it was enables in Msservice.exe, which I couldn't start either.After some googling, I found a fix on MS website, which moved some dll around and asked me to reboot PC. After doing so, it stopped recognizing my keyboard and mouse (both usb) at the login screen, they are completely dead even thou they work on boot and in bios (and are detected in bios).I tried to restoring to the point before the "fix", but same issue.

Sep 4, 2012The laptop I'm working on (And HP G series; running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium) had a NASTY trojan that disabled the keyboard and mouse (is what I'm assuming). I was able to work on the laptop with a USB mouse and the onscreen keyboardAfter going through about 10 AV software I finally got rid of all the Trojans (the scans on various AV software ran clean multiple times after removal); but the keyboard and trackpad continue to be disabled.Under the Device Manager it lists as the device as a "code 10" error.Doing some Googling I found a post that said do delete the registry entries that were labeled "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"; which I did and I rebooted.Now my USB mouse OR my USB keyboard won't work.I tried using a Linux Live CD and the trackpad and keyboard DOES work there no problem. Also the keyboard works fine when I'm in the BIOS.It's only when I'm in Windows (even in Safe Mode) that the keyboard/trackpad/USB Mouse/USB Keyboard doesn't work...so it's not a hardware problem.Things I've tried (besides deleting those registry entries)- Startup Repair- sfc /scannow- Reinstall the drivers (when I DID have access to Keyboard and Mouse)So to recap; I cannot use the keyboard/trackpad (or a USB Mouse and USB Keyboard) in Windows (including safe mode); but they DO work when not using Windows.

Mar 6, 2012When I boot and the Windows 7 desktop appears I can't use my keyboard and mouse for about 5 seconds. As a matter of fact none of my USB-connected periphals are available at that point. I have to note that it's my first system with a lightning fast SSD. Booting Windows to the desktop takes only 10 seconds. Maybe it's just too fast for everything to initialize?

Dec 25, 2012I recently bought a replacement mouse + keyboard. (Both Wireless, use same connector). So, I plugged them in last night, and the keyboard worked in the startup. I log in, and it stops working? I have no way to access any files on that computer since i have no working mouse/keyboard besides the one that wont work on that, so I need a way to fix it without accessing files that are only accessible after login.

When I leave my computer on for a bit and walk away, the screen will turn off by itself (this is not standby!!!) and sometimes, the keyboard or mouse seems to have lost its connection to the computer, and will not respond to anything, I have to hit the reset button.
Computer Needs Startup Repair, But Can't Use Mouse Or Keyboard?
Aug 12, 2012I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but recently on my girlfriends computer we installed a webcam and everything kinda froze. Upon restarting the computer it comes up with the screen saying a device failed and may need a startup repair. Also gives the option to start windows normally. The problem is the keyboard is not recognized to choose an option. It counts down and goes to the screen to start the startup repair, but again no mouse or keyboard. I have tried accessing the BIOS but considering the keyboard is not working i cannot do that either. I'm not sure what all is in it as I got it from a friend when he built a new one. It is a custom computer, not from a typical manufacturer. It has worked perfectly up until trying to install the webcam. I have tried using every USB port and also tried using a ps/2 converter to no avail. I'm not sure what to do anymore, and I'm afraid of messing with it too much or hard-booting it too much.

May 21, 2012I have been having this problem for a while now, never managed to sort it. Basically when I start my computer using the keyboard in BIOS for f12 and think like that are fine but the second I get into windows login screen I cant type or use the mouse for a good 10-15 seconds which is a right pain. Anyone know why this would be happening? Or anything I can test to see what the problem is. (Mouse and keyboard work fine on other computers)

I'm running Windows 7 64bit and it started installing the drivers, first it was installing "HID Wireless Mouse", then it switched to "USB Input Device" but failed after 3 seconds. now it's listed in Device Manager as "USB Input Device" with yellow sign that indicates it doesn't work. I tested it in 2 other Windows 7 32bit computers and it works just fine! installing drivers and everything. moreover - I testes my bro's logitech wireless mouse on my 64bit Windows 7 computer and it works fine. I think Windows fails on recognizing it. I mean the drivers are there.. the Logitech Mouse works but mine doesn't.. how do I make it work?

LAN Sometimes Works And Sometimes Doesn't IP?
Oct 15, 2012For years I've had an internet provider that required me to use certain IP addresses, assigned to me by that provider. It worked perfectly fine all the time.Now, for several reasons, I have a new provider. This one requires auto detection for the IP address (or whatever it is called in English, "Automatisch beziehen" in German). And now I often have connection problems on the PC in my study, which is connected via router. Then I can't access the internet. Windows shows me my usual connection which is called Network 2 and tells me it has no connection, and it also shows me a new Unidentified Network which it obviously created by itself which also has no connection.Unplugging and re-plugging the network cable doesn't help; Windows does a new network scan then but the problems remain. I have to re-boot, sometimes even two or three times, and then all of a sudden the Unidentified Network is gone and my regular Network 2 is working again.

Oct 17, 2012I have the most strange issue with my keyboard. It works in Bios, it works in safe mode, it works when I try to repair windows (repair files are added to a partition on the laptop - its how I bought it) but whenever windows boots normally, the keyboard won't work.It is a built in keyboard to my laptop and the fact it works everywhere else tells me it's fine (just in case connectors were damaged I stripped it and had a look anyway).Things I have tried
1) uninstalling the driver in safe mode - this reinstalls when I reboot but still no joy. The strange part is I do not think the driver files are corrupted because safe mode and normal mode seems to use the same drivers (standard ps2).
2) The manufacturer (HP Compaq) has no specific drivers which leads me to believe that standard ps2 is right but I reinstalled quick buttons -no joy
3) there are no conflicts or yellow exclamation point in device manager
4) the only thing I did was upgrade my AV (AVG 2013) so uninstalled -no joy.
5) ran AV and MBAM and ran TDSS killer just in case - no virus or malware
6) cleaned registry with Ccleaner -no joy
7) no processes or startup items are unusual but I have killed /disabled just in case-no joy
8) did a system restore (no joy)
9) I had backed up the registry ages ago so I tried that -no joy
10) Tried on battery and plugged in no battery in case the power is an issue -no joy
11) reflashed Bios - no joy
12 - All language sttings looked ok
A USB keyboard works if plugged in Just in case I did run hijack this too

SB Audigy SE - Driver Works, Sound Doesn't
Dec 10, 2009So I have a SB Audigy SE (SB0570) and I installed Windows 7 about a month ago. Initially, my sound did not work even though I installed the drivers correctly. It began working one day when I restarted the computer in safe mode and then restarted it again normally.
Today, however, it failed again. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed drivers and software for my Sony Handycam last night. I've since uninstalled the software, but to no avail. When I click on the sound icon in the system tray with Winamp playing, I can see the green bar jumping up and down, signifying that there is sound. I've tried using speakers and headphones, so I know it's the sound card that's causing the problem.
I have uninstalled my drivers and I've tried daniel_k's drivers (first the ones that were too new for the SE - lol - and then the ones that were designed for the SE, the 2.0 version), the drivers that Windows 7 automatically downloaded for me, the 917x support pack, and the drivers that Creative provides on their site for Windows 7. None of them made any difference. My current driver reports its version as 5.12.1.2020, and Windows says that it's working correctly.
Can anyone tell me why I can't get sound even though my drivers seem to work? What might have caused this seemingly random problem?

Oct 22, 2012The Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network adapter works about 40% of the time. The other 60% it says there is a hardware issue and it cannot connect. I then generally fiddle around with the ethernet cable ie unplug it plug it back in move it around again and restart. This sometimes works and I have no problems. Then when I restart my computer its a whole game on whether I can get it working again or not.
I have the latest drivers, and it is not a firewall/security issue.
WIFI Internet - Internal Works, External Doesn't?
Aug 4, 2011I've googled this and found heaps of people having the same issue, but nothing that actually resolves it. I'm using a laptop with internal wifi but I also have an external wifi dongle as I connect to my neighbours internet (I have permission and the passwords, etc). Both the internal and external used to work fine and both would have internet connection. But something recently has changed and now the internal wifi still works with both network and internet connection, but the external one only has network connection and no internet connection.The reason I use the external one is it gives much better signal strength than the internal one and, as said, both used to work just fine.Now I've tried uninstalling the external drivers and dongle and reinstalling it but no dice. I've tried doing the netsh stuff people have recommended in some of the search pages but no dice. Tried release and renew of IP, but no dice. I've disabled all firewalls but no dice (and I figure the firewalls would stop both connections anyway but I thought I'd try it
