I have Windows 7, fairly new computer. I was typing on word and the computer just froze up. The mouse moves, but nothing responds when I click. I restarted, started in safe mode, still no response. The keyboard works, I can go up and down with the arrows and tab, and enter, and I can type things in a search box in the safe mode

Whenever I put my system to sleep or shut it down, and it comes back on on its own (for example, Vipre anti-virus turns the comp on at night to run virus scans), the system boots up just fine, but the keyboard, mouse and display don't do anything. When I leave my computer on for a bit and walk away, the screen will turn off by itself (this is not standby!!!) and sometimes, the keyboard or mouse seems to have lost its connection to the computer, and will not respond to anything, I have to hit the reset button.
Desktop does not respond to mouse actions as previously nor the front panel power switch.I have to disconnect the power cord, reconnect, and press the front panel power button. Then the unit starts up and returns to window without the login window as if it was sleeping.The problem started after my attempts to install a defective external drive enclosure connected with an esata cable. I have since obtained a working external enclosure connected with an esata cable. The present Sleep wakeup malfunction is now present with or without a working external drive.

One of the issues was me not being able to install/uninstall microsoft antivirus, since it seems some files were deleted which it needed. I tracked that issue to yet another issue what windows installer could not start, which suggested me to check if it was enables in Msservice.exe, which I couldn't start either.After some googling, I found a fix on MS website, which moved some dll around and asked me to reboot PC. After doing so, it stopped recognizing my keyboard and mouse (both usb) at the login screen, they are completely dead even thou they work on boot and in bios (and are detected in bios).I tried to restoring to the point before the "fix", but same issue.

I can use the mouse on the msi bios. I then exited bios and installed the OS windows 7. During the install I was unable to use my logitech optical usb mouse however the keyboard was fine.Windows installed successfully but the mouse still wont work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI Can't seem to figure out what went wrong. I think it needs a Device driver update of some sort. I am running Windows 7 64 bit off of an original MS DVD that was installed only about a month ago. I built this system a little over a year ago. I have since pulled some memory sticks (sent for RMA) as they gave me random BSOD because of memory errors. When I try to install updates it gives me a BSOD. I have tried to do a system restore but it says it is unable to complete. Any Ideas? See attachment for dump files.

Sometimes the laptop gets stuck and then none of the keys or the mouse works. Yesterday I was watching a movie and the same thing happened but the movie didn't stop.
Today morning the laptop wasn't booting and then later I took out the battery and reinserted it and it worked. Are these two problems somehow related?
I ran a complete system recovery and now start up freezes. Seems mouse etc work perfectly fine in safe mode.

I'm assuming, when this happens the computer freezes because, when I hit the hot key I set up on my keyboard to shut down, nothing happens...So, the only option I have is unplugging or holding the power button until the machine shuts off. Then, I restart.When I try my hotkey for shut down during normal usage, it works just fine, but not when the monitor decides to take a coffee break and leave me hanging.If I was doing something lame, like work, it wouldn't be so bad, but right in the middle of online gaming??? I was able to work on the laptop with a USB mouse and the onscreen keyboardAfter going through about 10 AV software I finally got rid of all the Trojans (the scans on various AV software ran clean multiple times after removal); but the keyboard and trackpad continue to be disabled.Under the Device Manager it lists as the device as a "code 10" error.Doing some Googling I found a post that said do delete the registry entries that were labeled "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters"; which I did and I rebooted.Now my USB mouse OR my USB keyboard won't work.I tried using a Linux Live CD and the trackpad and keyboard DOES work there no problem. Also the keyboard works fine when I'm in the BIOS.It's only when I'm in Windows (even in Safe Mode) that the keyboard/trackpad/USB Mouse/USB Keyboard doesn't work...so it's not a hardware problem.Things I've tried (besides deleting those registry entries)- Startup Repair- sfc /scannow- Reinstall the drivers (when I DID have access to Keyboard and Mouse)So to recap; I cannot use the keyboard/trackpad (or a USB Mouse and USB Keyboard) in Windows (including safe mode); but they DO work when not using Windows.

I'm running Windows 7 64bit and it started installing the drivers, first it was installing "HID Wireless Mouse", then it switched to "USB Input Device" but failed after 3 seconds. now it's listed in Device Manager as "USB Input Device" with yellow sign that indicates it doesn't work. I tested it in 2 other Windows 7 32bit computers and it works just fine! installing drivers and everything. moreover - I testes my bro's logitech wireless mouse on my 64bit Windows 7 computer and it works fine. I think Windows fails on recognizing it. I mean the drivers are there.. the Logitech Mouse works but mine doesn't.. how do I make it work?

My main HD won't work on my main computer, it has "error 15 file not found". It works in my old computer and boots fine.It appears the problem is caused by an old install of linux onto that drive. The accepted solution is to use the repair on the install disk and type into console bootrec.exe /FixMbr. It said it was successful but i'm still getting the same error. It then goes to a big red screen with grub command.

As title says, my wifi works fine on my laptop but won't work on my computer. This hasn't been an issue previously but I moved house and now can't get on. I've tried two different dongles, changing the channel my router goes on and a new router. The computer connects and says it has internet access but then whenever I try and load a webpage it just keeps loading and never actually brings up the page. Also tried a few ipconfig (flushdns, release and renew) through cmd as I was instructed to by a friend - but now can't think of anything else. Also, it has three out of 5 bars of strength but sometimes when I switch the computer on it doesn't even detect the network at all.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, from just turning it on today, my laptop (a dell inspiron) now only works in what it calls 'safe mode'. This has literally just started, and no amount of turning it off and on again has fixed the problem. When I turn it on it loads up to the windows welcome screen, but instead of loading my desktop the screen goes completely black, sometimes with the mouse still on screen that I can move around. When I force it to shutdown, something in it bleeps loudly. (Note: I don't know if this might be related, but I've been having problems with my screen for a while now where it goes all pink and green, I know this is the wire between the screen and whatever it plugs into being loose, I just haven't gotten it fixed yet, but it's never done this and gone all black before.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have windows seven RC1(32 bit) and I get a BSOD when my computer works hard for longer periods of time. I do not have this problem with my vista partition. For example if I do a 30 mins skype call or play a game for 20 mins I get the BSOD. However I can surf the internet and listen to podcast for hours and have no problems.
