I am running a Packard Bell desktop, model BV ixtremeX9610 with Win7 home premium. A couple of times I have fired it up and the displayed time in the task bar has been wrong. Also have a clock widget on the desktop page which is about 5 hours out. Emails have time stamps which are way out. This sounds like a CMOS battery problem to me, but when I asked a 'Tech guy' from Packard Bell and enquired which battery type I need he assured me that the machine didn't have one! I have reset the clock using the bios - but the widget clock is still wrong.Time zones checked, OK. Must admit, haven't actually checked motherboard yet, but feel sure there MUST be a CMOS battery there.
I don't know what to do I installed gta 4 on my pc and it worked and everything but when I played the game it's graphics sucked their were no walls and a lot of invisible. So I installed some patch 01.03.10 or whatever and now it won't launch the game at all. When I type in my information for social club it takes it, then the disc icon shows up, then it goes back to where I log in.
On windows 7 I have the CPU usage plug in, added when I became convinced that more was happening than I thought. Although nothing is set in shedule processes, the 4 cores of the CPU are often going mad, with 70-80% of the 3 GB memory being used... Is there a program which tells me what the bl..... machine is doing. Perhaps a permanant window on the bottom of the screen? It is so frustrating as it slows down internet explorer and generally seems to be more interested in its own thing than my requests.
For some unkown reason half my memory is no longer working i have 8gb of ram on my computer yet it says only 4gb is available and if i go onto resource moniter it says that half of my memory is reserved for hardware? also im not great at computer.

I bought this computer and it has Nvidia GeForce GT540m graphics card (i thinks its optimus)but on dxdiag>display it says intel HD graphics family.. wtf?I don't know what is with it but do I not have Nvidia?PS: on some games such a skyrim and oblivion it detected my computer and said i have Nvidia gefore gt540m but I wonder why it doesn't show up on dxdiag as 540 but as intel HD
I dont have a great graphics card, and it is integrated into my motherboard and uses a percentage of my RAM. I was just wondering if it is possible to dedicate more of my RAM to my graphics since i never use all of it anyway? I know this sounds kind of stupid but my mind wanders on occasion.
I wonder, can I assign some of the RAM to the graphics card, so the graphics card will think its its own memory, and will use that along its own memory.
I am asking because I need like 70 MB more memory on the graphics card for GTA IV, so the textures will stop disappearing. I know this would most likely cause slowdown, but I wonder if its possible.
sony vaio as above.. in device manager my radeon is showing as standard VGA, I tried to download the drivers from radeon using the AMD automatic driver installer it found the radeon but could not instal the driver, so I went to sony site for the driver I can download it but when I try to open it all I get is an error saying "compressed zip folder invalid".

For my graphics card, it says it is an Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset Family. I know it has 64 MB dedicated to it and I'm not sure if I can increase that or if I have to buy a graphics card.
I'm Trying to change the Dedicated graphics memory for my Laptop Since right now its only 256 MB out of the 3067 MB It has. I can't figure out how to change it[CODE]
i have just finished a remote assist with Microsoft to try to resolve a problem i am having with my win 7 os. It appears from my trolling the forums that it is not an uncommon scenario. As i use my machine i see the memory monitor gadget showing more and more usaage of ram until finally i get a "not enough resources to run application" prompt.
The guy from microsoft cleared my cookies, my prefetch files, google toolbar etc without effect. He suggested that some of my optimising utilities could be the problem until i explained that i had installed the to try to CURE the problem. He finally cleared off without saying anymore and i was left a link if i wanted to resume the chat support. This link didn't work. Any comments would be great.
I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop. I recently installed windows 7 home premium 64bit. I can't seem to get my built in Ricoh 5 in 1 memory card reader to work. I installed the recommended driver using the dell drivers on their website. None of the drives are appearing under my computer, and nothing happens when I insert a memory card. I have tried several 1 and 2gb cards. Both high speed and regular with no success. I went to folder options and unchecked the box to hide empty drives in my computer. I am unable to locate anything under device manager for the Ricoh card reader.A - I want it to display the empty drives in my computer B - I want it to read my darn memory cards
When i connect the first USB Stick (1 GB Kingston) everything it's ok, it shows up in Explorer, but when i try to connect the other one (i have two) it wont show up, but i can access it if i just type the drive letter in the address bar (J:).Also if i try to connect my phone as a USB device or any other memory stick, same problem...not showing up in Computer window.
My Compaq laptop no longer has color graphics. When I go to a website it just shows black letters...I just bought a new battery from HP and can't figure out what is wrong..
We have just bought new PC with Windows 7 after old PC died. Have tried to transfer files from a memory stick (mainly word / excel) onto new pc but Windows exploer says memory stick folder is empty. When put stick into laptop (running I think on XP) it clearly shows files are present. Have tried copying files onto different stick but get the same problem.
New PC has Kapersky and it scanned the stick when 1st put it in and found no problems with it.
I really must restore my PC to last night. I only gives me an option of either two days ago or earlier this morning though. How can I restore that exact time?
There is a new level of Technet called Standard which is available for $199 for 1st year subscribers...versus the typical $349 that MS charges for Technet Professional. If you are concerned about what comes with which version, this link is VERY SPECIFIC and lists every product you get with each. You will see that it's only a handful of "enterprise" versions of most things which are excluded;URL.If you do want the Professional subscription the promo code that is valid on it until end of July 2010 is TNWNF
I have a burnt up motherboard in my laptop. My question is do I have to match the exact model to the one that is in there already inside? Or can I get one alittle cheaper? The one that is inside is around $200, and I was hoping to spend a bit less.Me and hubby can replace and change out anything on a desktop, and even build one from scratch. But laptops aren't our thing. This one is an ASUS K52F REV 2.0. Any suggestions, or do I have to match it up with what is factory?
I recently bought a USB 3 flash drive and was curious why I was only getting 32mb/sec read and about 20mb/sec write speed. Could it be that my usb 3 slots are not really usb 3?
Is it safe to burn a Windows 7 installation ISO image using the 'exact copy' option, meaning making an exact duplicate from an already existing CD. Or is it safer to burn a CD from the original ISO file? Wouldn't the 'exact copy' option have higher chances for data corruption, especially since it is a boot/installation CD?
I am trying to get 15 monitors working on my system. I have a gigabyte GA990fxaud5 motherboard with amd fx 8150, 8 core CPU and 16 gb dual channel Kingston ram. I also have 4x firepro 2450 video cards 3 of x16 here: NTI--ATI FirePro 2450 PCI Express. 4 Display Video card.and 1 of x1 here: NTI--ATI FirePro 2450 PCI Express. 4 Display Video card.I am running windows 7 pro 64 bit I have 2 of the x16 cards installed and its working fine and it takes me to a black screen that says "loading operating system" and then everything else goes smooth and takes me to the windows os. When I run the system with these 2 video cards everything runs perfectly and I can get 8 outputs. The problem is, when I put the third card in the system, the system boots, gets passed the bios (where I can press esc to access bios) but then it takes me to a black screen with no further activity. It's when I place the third card in, is when this black screen occurs without having any message.Maybe the systems confused with this third card. Maybe it's something in windows 7 settings. Or maybe bios.I have installed this exact firepro driver: ATI FireGL?Do I need to have SLI or CrossFire to run multiple video cards? How do i do that for these video cards I have? What are the settings in the BIOS that will enable these 4 video cards. The expansion slots on the mb are compatible with the 4 cards and it does have enough grunt to handle these cards, but it's now getting all 4 cards to operate together on the os.
