No Type Filter In Search?
May 14, 2012Win 7 lacks a search filter in the search bar of windows explorer.The only way to search with filters is to find the keywords such as "kind: videos" etc. XP had a much better search than Win7

How To Add A Search Filter To Windows Explorer
Jul 29, 2010When I'm browsing local/network drives in Windows 7, the Search box (upper right in any Explorer window) only offers two filters "Date Modified" and "Size".
The "Add a Search Filter" is grayed out.
Here's some info on search filters that are available to be added-- but I haven''t figured out how to add them yet:
Date Created: Searches according to when the file was created. You can select the date (or a range of dates) from a mini-calendar that appears.
Kind: Search for files of a specific type as selected from the drop-down list that appears when you click the Kind option.
Type: Searches based on certain file types by extension, such as .pdf, .jpg, or .docx.
Name: Searches by filename. You can enter all or part of the filename in the search text box after the Name filter.
Tags: This filter lets you search for a file by the tags assigned to it. Enter one or more tags after the Tags filter in the Search text box.
Authors: Search for file by a particular author. Enter an author name after the Authors filter in the Search text box or select the name from the drop-down list that appears. (This filter is called Artists when searching audio files.)
Proper Syntax For Search Filter Within Time Frame?

Sep 16, 2011Suddenly when doing a search in Yahoo the display font of the results is not correct. It is not clear type. Everywhere else clear type works fine. Everywhere.
I have done system restore to a point I know it was working and that did not resolve it. I have disasbled and reenabled clear type text both in Windows and in IE8.
I did do all the Windows updates on Tuesday but I can't think how one of those would effect only Yahoo Search.
I recall this happening on my old system for one user and not another and we could never resolve it. It was summized that it was a corrupt profile but I can't understand how it would only effect Yahoo.
how I can get the Yahoo search results to have the proper font? therwise it's off to Google but I'd rather resolve this..
Type Letters To Select A File Or Folder Instead Of Typing A Search Term?
Oct 5, 2012In XP (and Vista), you type alphebets to select a file or folder. For example, you are trying to access a file named "My file.txt", you type "m", "y" and it goes directly to folder or files start withm and y so it's close to My file.txt. This is convenient way to find a file you need.But, it's not the same in Windows 7 anymore. Typing anything will activate the search. It narrows down the files in folder window and it shows many unrelated documents and folders.Is there a way to disable that so I only search by keywords when I press Control-F while typing only takes me to the folder or file?

I enter the same keyword (one of the words contained within the title of a completed task) in the Outlook Task search box as I do the Windows 7 orb 'search programs and files.' The Windows 7 search returns the correct search result (along with a lot other results having the same keyword) practically immediately whereas Outlook is still searching...and searching.
If I have index options set to include the C: drive and Outlook, what's going on with Outlook?

It is fixed now, but the other issues I was having at the same time was not being able to view indexed files through the "search programs and files" and "windows explorer search" box. The screen goes blank or does not produce any results. Also, one of my downloaded software disk programs will not open--error. This particular program, Logos Bible software, index its files quite often. Even when I am not using the program. I also cannot change my desktop background to any picture except solid colors. I think my laptop has a corrupted file somewhere, or it is infected with malware.

Dec 13, 2009I have a Gateway AMD laptop running Win 7 Home Premium and it will not recognize a couple of my USB devices. After doing some research, I read that it can be caused by AMD's USB (Audio) Filter Driver and that I need to disable or uninstall the driver.
The driver does not appear anywhere in the Device Manager; but, I did find it in the C:/Program Files (x86)/AMD folder.
The problem I'm facing is that I cannot uninstall it. If I go to Control Panel and pull up the Programs, it does not appear there.
Can someone please tell me how I can uninstall this driver?

I click ok and it goes away PLUS I have no problems surfing the iternet. There is some inconsistency cause I shouldnt be able to suf the internet as the error messg states.
There should be a much simpler way to turn this off.
