i can't seem to repair the NetGroup Packet Filter Driver in my laptop.. i'm using windows 7 home basic..when i tried to start it, it says "The system encountered the following error while attempting to start the service. The system cannot find the file specified." i don't have a repair disc
tracking down and getting rid of things that cause error to appear in event log. one of the few left is the rx filter failed to load issue. seems to be due to roxio program somehow and perhaps related to 32/64 bit issues. suggestions or ignore?
Okay, I was playing with the settings of the Live Family Safety Filters and I cant seem to get rid of this pop up message when i start my computer. See attachment. I click ok and it goes away PLUS I have no problems surfing the iternet. There is some inconsistency cause I shouldnt be able to suf the internet as the error messg states.
There should be a much simpler way to turn this off.
By the way i am the administrator and sole user of this computer.
I have been reading other threads about the instructions to update the driver for the "keyboard filter" but I didn't feel adequately that they applied to me. So, my basic question is, do I absolutely need to do this to have a working keyboard when I finish?
I have a Gateway AMD laptop running Win 7 Home Premium and it will not recognize a couple of my USB devices. After doing some research, I read that it can be caused by AMD's USB (Audio) Filter Driver and that I need to disable or uninstall the driver.
The driver does not appear anywhere in the Device Manager; but, I did find it in the C:/Program Files (x86)/AMD folder.
The problem I'm facing is that I cannot uninstall it. If I go to Control Panel and pull up the Programs, it does not appear there.
Can someone please tell me how I can uninstall this driver?
I have installed amd usb audio filter sp46291 downloaded from the HP website for Windows 7 x32.I seem to have problems with the usb wireless Internet. The usb internet times out when pinging after few hours and the internet becomes unstable. Although my usb mouse and usb sound works fine. I have to then reinstall the usb composite devices in the device manager to fix the internet problem.
I have packet loss, and randomly connection loss (but otherwise i have very good pings!) under windows 7 with two different computer with realtek 8111B and 8111E onboard chips. But there is no packet loss under windows xp with the same computers.I tried old, new, and motherboard manufacturer's drivers, new windows 7 system without any antivirus software, disabled windows defender, in safe mode, but still the sameI have no router, just a modem directly plug into the pc.
im having troubled with my acer netbook wireless network connection.i can connect to servers..but i cant browse in the internet. .the notification icons..prompts that i am connected at all.until i view my status.. 650 send packet data but 0 receive??and if i tried to direct into websites.. it will just say "taking too long to respond" or unavailable.i dont know if there was something wrong setting on my network ip or what??
I can't enable wake on lan on my computer. First I tried with an on board LAN cart then I added external cart - Intel(R) PRO/1000 GT.In the device manager I checked "Allow this device to wake up the computer" and "Only allow a magic packed to wake up the computer" for the network adapter. In BIOS I enabled the PME Event Wake up property. On my machine I installed a Magic Packect sender/receiver to check whather the packets can reach the computer and I see that the packets are received when I send them from my phone. But when the computer is turned off I can't wake it this way. Also there's light from my LAN cart, so I assume that is has power from the mainboard when the computer is turned off. My mainboard is Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 and the operating system is Windows 7 32bit.
I have: Laptop: Acer TravelMate 5744 CPU: Intel Core i3 M380 OS: Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 64 bit Network Card: Broadcom NetLink Antivirus: McAfee
From time to time (an average of 5 minutes) I experience a packet drop, whatever host I connect to or I ping. The problem is not related to any network device because the problem does not occur on another PC connected to the same switch. And, more interestingly, the problem does not occur on a Linux virtual machine (VMware) installed on my laptop. The problem occurs even if I disable the firewall or the real time check of the antivirus. So, every clue brings to Windows 7 or the network device driver (that is up to date, though). It's important for me because I have to connect to other machines remotely (and the connection drops).
I just got my Windows 7 upgrade kit in the mail today. When I got to the Compatibility Report, it told me this:
"These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers." Keyboard Filter And
"These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.)" HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video * iTunes (Please deauthorize computer prior to upgrade) Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile * Bejeweled 2 Deluxe * Chuzzle Deluxe * Slingo Deluxe * Wedding Dash * Zuma Deluxe *
I'm afraid to continue the upgrade because I don't know what's going to happen or how it's going to affect the programs and devices. Should I just go ahead and uninstall everything listed in the second message? And how do I update the driver for the Keyboard Filter? I don't really know what I'm doing.
Win 7 lacks a search filter in the search bar of windows explorer. The only way to search with filters is to find the keywords such as "kind: videos" etc. XP had a much better search than Win7
I am trying to upgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium. When I attempt to install it. it keeps telling me that the "Keyboard Filter" might not work properly. What is that? And what does it do?

I did what they said with update device drivers on Control Panel but it says it is all up to date. I am not good with computers and I have no idea what to do. It won't let me continue until i fix this. PLEASE HELP?
When I'm browsing local/network drives in Windows 7, the Search box (upper right in any Explorer window) only offers two filters "Date Modified" and "Size".
The "Add a Search Filter" is grayed out.
Here's some info on search filters that are available to be added-- but I haven''t figured out how to add them yet:
Date Created: Searches according to when the file was created. You can select the date (or a range of dates) from a mini-calendar that appears.
Kind: Search for files of a specific type as selected from the drop-down list that appears when you click the Kind option.
Type: Searches based on certain file types by extension, such as .pdf, .jpg, or .docx.
Name: Searches by filename. You can enter all or part of the filename in the search text box after the Name filter.
Tags: This filter lets you search for a file by the tags assigned to it. Enter one or more tags after the Tags filter in the Search text box.
Authors: Search for file by a particular author. Enter an author name after the Authors filter in the Search text box or select the name from the drop-down list that appears. (This filter is called Artists when searching audio files.)
I just got a new computer with Windows 7 64 bit and I cannot get a new filter to work with PSPx2 ultimate..Microsoft says it is compatible and I have installed all the dll files to both my SYSWos64 and System folders but it will still not show up in PSP. I installed it( Eye Candy 6 ) to a folder in the Corel program called plugins.
I have used Thunderbird for years with no problem but lately I have been trying to remove the message Pain (sorry Pane) from view and also the filter Bar but as soon as I leave and go back in its on show again I have tried uninstalling and re installing without success?
i have bought a laptop computer with win 7, i can't access some websites like face book, and so on, i mean they are all filtered. how can i get free filter breaker like vpn to unblock such webs.
I'd like someone to clear me up on the proper syntax to search within a certain time frame. such as since a date, between dates and before a date. I don't think I have windows 7 figured out. Start with this search. This is one I am looking for kay extract*.mpg
I use sometimes outlook to retrieve my emails but all spam email are also fetched, even after I mark them as Junk email in outlook. So I am wondering why the filter antispam in outlook (junk mail blocker) is not efficient?
In windows XP I remember I could specify whatever I remember of a file and I could get straight to the file I was looking for, I could only remember a range of dates, an approx size, tow or three file extension... and thats it.. the search in windows 7 is good, but only for looking files that you know are there and you just want to save time scrolling down until get it. I have been in this situation various times, but I cant stand it anymore
I am looking for an audio file (a recording of a conversation). I don't remember the name (probably the default name the recorder put on it [there fore must be hundreds of files with the same names but in different folders). The specs I remember from the file, or what I am sure it is are:
Size between 1mb and 20mb Create and or modification date: between 2008 and 2010 File type: wav, mp3, qcp or amr (i don't remember if i convert it, if i edited it... )
In windows xp I would have found the file, but in this windows 7 something CANT be so simple and when it is forced to be, it doesn't work properly. When I try to use the "So Super duper" simple all mighty space for searches in the upper right corner... it only give me options for (despite the name itself ...) "modified date" and "size". How do I chose a range of date, a range of size various fiile type? Why its so complicated in windows 7?
Since I haven't been able to find anything that directly refers to this, I'm taking a shot in the wild blue here, in case maybe someone here knows at least enough to point me in the right direction.
I am a long-time Windows XP user. But I have a couple of newer computers (including a laptop) that came with Windows 7 installed; the manufacturer does not support XP on these newer computers. Without drivers for the newer hardware, XP is not an option.
There are many things I don't like about Windows 7, but I've been able to overcome most of them, either by settings changes, or with "Classic Shell" (Welcome to Classic Shell) which allows users to change the Windows 7 UI to be much more like XP.
But there is one problem I haven't been able to overcome, which is the thing circled in red below:
I think it is called a "filter" popup, but I'm not sure.
The problem I have is, I never use this, but it sure gets in the way of what I do use, specifically resizing the column widths or moving the columns. In WinXP, there is a lot more leeway when you select the right side of a column. In Windows 7 (due to this infernal thing) you have to select it much more precisely, otherwise that filter thing pops up instead.
Search Engines using "Filter Bubbling"?I normally use [URL] (NOTE: NOT [URL] which is a porn site) as my search engine, because they destroy search requests every 24 hrs (UNlike Google which stores search requests for Years & freely supplys them to the FBI!!!).I read that GoDuckGo.com search engine does not use Filter Bubbling OR store search requests. But before I switch search engines, I need to learn more about this "Filter Bubbling".
I haven't been able to find a solution for this:I have an explorer window open, either pointed to the root of my C: drive, or to some folder (say C:data). When I click the Search window, the drop-down appears showing previous searches, but the "Add a search filter" is greyed out.
