No Display Signal Coming Out Of Sleep Mode?
Nov 1, 2012
Just recently was doing some additional overclocking on my PC and had this happening just now. Whenever I resume my session out of sleep mode by hitting either a key on my keyboard or mouse, my PC fires up, but the display doesn't come back, almost as if I had pulled out the cable from the monitor. The PC is running normally as this is going on, and the only way for me to get my display back is to do a hard reset.

I seem to be getting BSOD every time I come out of sleep mode with my new laptop (Asus G74SX-TH71). I put in an SSD did a clean install of Windows 7 Professional x64. I have disabled the bluetooth in device manager deliberately as I don't plan on using it.

Just built this computer last week and I've had problems when the computer goes to sleep. When I press a key or move the mouse, the computer apparently wakes up but the monitor is still black and the PC speaker is gives off a three beep pattern. After a cold reboot, the system/win7 does not restart, but rather resumes the task I was doing prior to the sleeping mode. One more thing, does cold rebooting affect ssd's the same way as normal hd's?

For the past several mornings, when clicking my mouse to wake my PC from sleep mode, my screen remains completely black. I can hear the PC start up, the fan running, etc. I can even hear the Windows log on sound when I punch in my password. All power lights are on, but the monitor refuses to display anything, not even a blinking cursor. My keyboard then becomes unresponsive and I'm unable to shut my PC down using the power button. I've had to hard reboot several times by manually switching my surge protector off and on. After getting the expected message that Windows didn't shut down properly, my system then starts up as usual. I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). My processor is an AMD Athlon II X4 630 and I have 6 GB of RAM. Both my PC and monitor are brand new.

I've set it to "no password" in all of the power plans. I also changed it on the main power settings screen, where it has "require password.." on the left. I click on that and select "no password" there as well. Screen saver is set to "none" I'm about to remove the password from my login account altogether. Is there something else that could be causing this behavior? Because I am at wit's end with this issue. The only band-aid I have is to run the Caffeine utility to prevent the system from sleeping.

Windows 7 Startup folder allows you to open a file when starting the computer, but I seldom shut off my computer. Instead, I would like a file to open every time I put in the password to bring it out of sleep mode. Is that possible?

When my PC goes into sleep mode (typically while not logged in), I am asked for my password, I enter it, I briefly get the bright blue screen saying Welcome - and then boom, back to the login screen and I have to enter my password again. And I don't think it's a matter of first login wakes me from sleep; second gets me to my desktop.I've started just pressing enter on the password screen the first time, which of course tells me that there's a password error. Then I'll enter my password and I'm in - after just one successful password entry. If it's some kind of bios-specific thing, my MB is a Gigabyte, with the specifics shown in my HW profile. Why is Windows 7 asking me to enter my password twice to get to my desktop from sleep mode?

I've been having problems with random BSOD's when i'm coming out of sleep mode on my laptop. Most of the time I can bring the computer out of sleep with no issues but every month or so it will crash with a BSOD within 5 seconds of waking up. I can't seem to reproduce the issue, it just happens at random. I attached two dmp files that may be relevant to the issue as well as screenshots from CPUz and the HTML report from RAMMon.

A user of mine is telling me she gets a BSoD often when she wakes up her laptop from sleep, or if she tries to undock it. My free tools for analyzing the dump file aren't giving me anything useful, so I figured I'd post it here in case someone with better tools would give it a shot.

I built this Windows 7 machine last year on an msi p55-gd80 motherboard with an i5-750 cpu. It would sleep fine and come out of sleep fine. Then I upgraded to a gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 motherboard with an i7-2600k cpu. In doing the upgrade, all I did was boot the new hardware using the old hard drive, and then ran the new motherboard install dvd. Everything worked from the get go just as it had on the old machine, with one exception. Now, when coming out of sleep, I usually get a bsod. I assume this is driver related, but am not sure how to proceed as device manager looks fine and apart from coming out of sleep, the machine is perfect.

I have been having troubles with my display port monitor, and I just realized that the monitor is picking up 1923x1080 60hz (thats what the HP settings say on the monitor) but according to Windows its sending out 1920x1080. ATI Radeon 5770, I don't have CCC installed because of previous issues, any ideas why I'm getting such an odd resolution?

I have been facing a wierd problem recently. My desktop monitor turns off itself after a few minutes but the CPU works, I can hear the fan running and see the lights blinking. One thing I noticed is that when the monitor turns off, the Orange light on the CPU stays on which normally just blinks. My PC works normally on safe mode, but the worst part about safe mode is that I cannot work on my software CorelDRAW. Can this be the SMPS problem? because recently my mouse and keyboard inputs were not working because of which I got a USB keyboard and mouse. I have recently installed Windows 7 64bit, but I think that should not cause the problem as I have worked with 64bit Windows before on the same machine.
PC configuration -
Intel Core 2 Duo 4500 @ 2.20Ghz Processor
ASUS P5QPL-AM Motherboard
3GB RAM
No Graphic Card (Maybe inbuilt, not sure)
1TB Hardisk

I am pretty decent with computers but not an expert. I am having a little trouble with my home theater PC display flickering. My video card is a Radeon HD 6900 and the drivers are up to date. I have the HDMI out of my PC going to an Onkyo 7.1ch HT-R590 receiver and it's output going to my LG 42" TV. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate X64.The system used to work perfectly fine but over time the display started to flicker at random times. I tried to hook my PC directly to my TV and it works perfectly fine, so I am 100% certain the problem is in the receiver. I did a bit of research and it appears to be a problem with my receiver over heating.
Now, if I run my HDMI to my TV, I cannot use 7.1ch surround sound. (Even after playing with Audio Return Channel) If I run optical to the receiver, my video card only puts out 5.1ch surround sound for some weird reason. So I did the next obvious choice, I ran a DVI to HDMI to my TV for video and HDMI to my receiver for audio. I thought it would trick it into thinking there was two displays but this does not work, I do not get audio. was wondering if you guys knew of any utilities that would allow me to output audio on one HDMI stream and video on my DVI port. I did a lot of looking around and it looks like DMCA calls for HDMI to be encrypted and you can't separate the stream. Or would I just be better off getting a separate audio card to connect to my a/v receiver

I tried putting it in safe mode and it went through running some files and when it came back to the start menu, the mouse was frozen. I could still type in my password, and it went to the desktop but the mouse remains frozen. I hope I don't need some other password because I don't have one.

I just bought a Netgear WNA3100 wireless usb adapter for my HP Win 7 64 bit laptop. I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.

Pretty self-explanatory by the title. I haven't had this problem until two days ago, and I Sleep my computer on a regular basis. This now happens about one out of three times I wake my computer. The computer turns on, but the display doesn't. It's not the monitor--if I power it off and on, nothing changes, but it will turn on as usual after I forcibly restart my computer. Every time this happens, my only option is to hold down the PC's power button until it shuts off and then power it back on. I've also checked all the cables. My guess is that it's the graphics card, though it's strange that it started recently--I haven't installed any video driver updates. The only change I can think of is Windows 7 auto updates that installed recently (none were for the display, all were for "x64-based systems").My graphics card is an EVGA 9600 GSO with 768MB DDR2.Windows 7 x64Hanns-G HH251 connected via DVI (video card end) to HDMI (monitor end) cable.

I keep having to go back and adjust color and contrast every time my laptop wakes up from sleep. I keep hearing it's something to do with the drivers, but I tried going to device manager, right clicking on display adapter and seeing if there are updates and it says i have the latest installed.I just got this computer too, so you'd think it'd come with all the new drivers?
