ChkDsk Errors Keeps Coming Up
Aug 18, 2012The past few days my computer has been giving me many errors. The way it started were lag spikes. I had opened word to write a bit, and it started lagging alot. My computer has always been fast, and although it could sometimes slightly slow down, it was never this bad. I mean, it was slower than my old laptop with 1gb of ram. I saved and closed word, and went to task manager to troubleshoot if there were problems. All normal. I closed task manager, and went to the start menu to shut down, just in time to get a Bsod. Yes I would love to share any dump files, however i now barely can access it (I just managed to run cmd for a bit) since windows explorer keeps crashing. Ok, so the only thing i know about the bsod is that it gave me the "KERNEL_INPAGE_ERROR", giving the the error code 0x000007e(i think). Also what i noticed was that the error when explorer.exe crashes it gives me the InPage error too. A bit of Google searching easily revealed that the INPAGE ERROR is often related to hard drive problems. Then, the next day, when i restarted the computer it went to chkdsk, (i never scheduled it) and scanned. What caught my eye was that it said "Recovering Orphaned File ### in directory ###, and it said there was not enough space on the drive" (where ### is was a random number that meant absolutely nothing to me) in some points. So the probability that i have a defective drive was getting higher. I decided i needed to do a virus check, but the result was a simple advertising software, which told nothing of the story, so i knew this wasn't a virus cause. I started up my computer, and, although explorer.exe kept crashing literally every 5 seconds, i managed to open up cmd prompt, and typed in "chkdsk /r /f' for a deeper scan. I restarted the system and let it run for a rough 4,5 hours. It founds many bad cluster and apparently "replaced" them. It found bad cluster everywhere on my drive, from files in system32 to my minecraft worlds! Now, I have just started another scan (it is still running) and it pointed out those exact same bad cluster and said it was replacing them.
So the big question is: Is my drive failing? Or is it just windows which is screwed up?
I am really hoping to get over this problem as soon as possible, because, even though i have this laptop i used to write this, my desktop computer is important too.
As for the memory dump files and chkdsk logs, they should be on my computer, and ill post them as soon as chkdsk finishes.
Java Errors Are Coming Up
Feb 9, 2012A friend of mine bought a new computer and is now having Java errors coming up. It always starts with hs_err_pid, and is then followed by either a 3 or 4 digit number that changes every time it comes up.I don't have much info on the computer other than that he has an Intel I3 Processor, 6gb DDR3 Ram, and is using onboard video.
Does any have any ideas what could be causing this?
Random BSODs After Coming Out Of Sleep
Apr 30, 2012I've been having problems with random BSOD's when i'm coming out of sleep mode on my laptop. Most of the time I can bring the computer out of sleep with no issues but every month or so it will crash with a BSOD within 5 seconds of waking up. I can't seem to reproduce the issue, it just happens at random. I attached two dmp files that may be relevant to the issue as well as screenshots from CPUz and the HTML report from RAMMon.

BSoD When Coming Out Of Sleep Or Unlocking?
Sep 27, 2012A user of mine is telling me she gets a BSoD often when she wakes up her laptop from sleep, or if she tries to undock it. My free tools for analyzing the dump file aren't giving me anything useful, so I figured I'd post it here in case someone with better tools would give it a shot.

When I press a key or move the mouse, the computer apparently wakes up but the monitor is still black and the PC speaker is gives off a three beep pattern. After a cold reboot, the system/win7 does not restart, but rather resumes the task I was doing prior to the sleeping mode. One more thing, does cold rebooting affect ssd's the same way as normal hd's?

I can hear the PC start up, the fan running, etc. I can even hear the Windows log on sound when I punch in my password. All power lights are on, but the monitor refuses to display anything, not even a blinking cursor.My keyboard then becomes unresponsive and I'm unable to shut my PC down using the power button. I've had to hard reboot several times by manually switching my surge protector off and on. After getting the expected message that Windows didn't shut down properly, my system then starts up as usual. I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). Bsod Coming Out Of Sleep (used To Work, But No Longer)
Jan 3, 2012I built this Windows 7 machine last year on an msi p55-gd80 motherboard with an i5-750 cpu. It would sleep fine and come out of sleep fine. Then I upgraded to a gigabyte Z68MA-D2H-B3 motherboard with an i7-2600k cpu. In doing the upgrade, all I did was boot the new hardware using the old hard drive, and then ran the new motherboard install dvd. Everything worked from the get go just as it had on the old machine, with one exception. Now, when coming out of sleep, I usually get a bsod. I assume this is driver related, but am not sure how to proceed as device manager looks fine and apart from coming out of sleep, the machine is perfect.

Mar 24, 2011I've set it to "no password" in all of the power plans. I also changed it on the main power settings screen, where it has "require password.." on the left. I click on that and select "no password" there as well. Screen saver is set to "none" I'm about to remove the password from my login account altogether. Is there something else that could be causing this behavior? Because I am at wit's end with this issue. The only band-aid I have is to run the Caffeine utility to prevent the system from sleeping.

Whenever I resume my session out of sleep mode by hitting either a key on my keyboard or mouse, my PC fires up, but the display doesn't come back, almost as if I had pulled out the cable from the monitor. Aug 1, 2012I keep getting a message on a bluescreen, often when the cpu comes out of sleep mode, that it is shutting down to avoid damage or something. I also often have trouble getting ctrl alt del to work. Recently, we removed several viruses, and hijackers from the computer, that made it so I couldn't even google search, and its only been doing it since then. As I write, malwarebytes said it was removing threats. I have scoured everywhere I could think of and removed almost all unnecessary programs, files and downloads. Could there stll be a virus? Could a previous virus have corrupted the comp irreversibly?

Won't Sleep From Start Menu But Sleep Timer Works?
Apr 1, 2012I know there are a bunch of sleep problems out there but I couldn't fine one similar to this after doing a forum search. Running Windows 7 Ultimate. Sleep used to work ok but now when I choose sleep from the start menu, the screen blacks out but the computer doesn't actually go to sleep. The fans, activity lights, hdd lights are all still running. If I move the mouse the screen comes back. However, if I just wait for the sleep timer to kick in then the computer does go to sleep (all fans stop running and all lights go out). I'm not sure what caused this. I use my pc as an HTCP and now when I push the power button on the remote the pc does not go to sleep.

Network Coming And Going
Oct 8, 2009Ive just installed the 64bit signature edition - curtesy of MS and House party. Setup went ok but I am having an issue with my network not staying put. what I mean is that I can click on the network link - go to the network and find maybe my pc and one other. Another time I will find maybe an additional pc or a totally different one or all of them.
But the one Im havng the most problems with is my external drive which is linked direct to the network. If I use its installed software I have no problem but if I try to access it through the network - as I would normally to stream our music - I frequently find it is missing off the list.
What I should have is as follows:
PC1 - me cable connection - Win 7 (64bit retail)
PC2 - son 1 - cable connection - Win 7RC (32 bit)
PC3 - son 2 - cable connection - Win 7RC (32 bit)
Laptop1 - Daughter's - wireless - no problem so far - Vista Home Premium (32 bit)
Drive 1 - external network drive - cable connection
It played up for a couple of hours but at present they are all there but it gets annoying when one or another just seems to disappear for no reason that I can see. Ive checked the various setting and nothing has changed apart from my having done a clean install of Win 7 on PC1. Only thing different on that one is Ive pt on the 64bit version instead of the 32 but I cant believe that that is the cause. Any suggestions?

May 6, 2009When Windows 7 shuts does my monitors after 15 minutes of inactivity, it crashes completely when I bring it back.
So when I left for breakfast this morning and came back, I moved the mouse to get the display on again...the mouse moved around for a few seconds then stopped. Freeze. No task manager nothing...I had to pull the plug and restart the computer, and it works fine.
I replicated this as well. I just left it sitting there for 15 minutes, the monitors went off. I went to bring it back and again, freeze.
Only programs that I was probablly running during both instances are uTorrent and Firefox (No-addons, one maybe two tabs.)
My screen saver is set to "none" if that helps. For now, I can alleviate this issue by setting the "Turn Display Off After" to "Never" in the power settings, which is fine with me. I just thought I'd post this up.
No Sound Is Coming From Speakers
Jan 22, 2012I recently replaced the power supply on my system, and when I fired it back up, no sound is coming from the speakers.I double checked the speakers were working, and they are.I downloaded updated drivers from realtek, even reverted and let windows install it.Checked BIOS to make sure onboard sound was enabled. Tried all the unplugging and replugging tricks. I do get a signal that the CPU is recognising sound in the mixer, but nothing comes out of the speakers.
