My Dell Inspirion laptop consistently makes a series of loud beeping sounds (5 beeps, 4 cycles) when starting up and sometimes continues at an almost inaudible level while in use. The beeps don't appear to be coming from the speakers. The machine is fairly new. I've tried to research this via Google couldn't find an explanation for the beep codes or a way to make it stop. I've run complete BIOS scans, checked for Malware, etc and the beeps continue.
I recently replaced the power supply on my system, and when I fired it back up, no sound is coming from the speakers.I double checked the speakers were working, and they are.I downloaded updated drivers from realtek, even reverted and let windows install it.Checked BIOS to make sure onboard sound was enabled. Tried all the unplugging and replugging tricks. I do get a signal that the CPU is recognising sound in the mixer, but nothing comes out of the speakers.
Got some speakers for my PC and they make an annoying whistling sound and when my PC makes a noise like a disk whirring it is amplified through the speakers. Also, when I scroll up and down a webpage for example it makes extra noises.
First of all i have an ASUS P6X58D Premium motherboard and three days ago updated to 24GB of Ram.Suddenly while i was relaxing on my pc a few hours ago, a beeping sound that lasted for about 1-2 seconds started coming from the speakers. I instantly got worried as this is the first time it happened. I looked up google for "beeb sound", and i found out that this is some form of coding representing errors....but these sounds should not come from the motherboard instead of the speakers????
I have searched alot on multiple forums regarding this! Its hard to believe that nobody has a credible solution to this simple problem!!I have dell inspiron N4030 and when i plug in headphone in the stereo jack , sound keeps on playing from both speakers and independent headphones at the same time!! This really is annoying! I have tried refreshing the driver software , have installed IDT HD audio drivers, still of no avail
Sounds are coming out of my speakers even i plugged in my headphonesand by the way, when i go to control panel and go to hardware sounds and go manage audio devices, there is NO headphones sign/logo even when i have plugged in my headphones. And when i try to update my audio drivers, they say it is up to date.
I have an Asus K61-IC dual booting Windows 7 Professional x64 (default) & Fedora 16 x64. In Windows, whenever I plug in a HDMI cable to watch a movie on my LCD TV audio will only come out of laptop speakers and when I open audio properties it says HDMI audio not connected or something to that effect (at the moment, I'm not able to connect it to the TV) and it will not let me click on properties, but when I open the driver properties, it tells me everything is working fine. I cannot figure this out for s#%t.
My computer was recently RMA'd due to a faulty PSU and video card. I just received it back and the speakers that I used before no longer work. I figured it was a driver issue and simply downloaded the RealTek drivers but it didn't fix the problem. The AMD card comes with its own drivers. I had problems in the past with their HD audio codecs and tried uninstalling them but that didn't seem to fix it either. I went into device manager and located that there were drivers installed and they checked out. I checked for hidden or disabled devices in "Playback devices" and didn't find any.
Things I've tried: - Installing audio drivers. - Uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers. - System restore. - Checking proper connection of speakers. - Verification that speakers work.
By just looking at the audio mixer, it would appear that the system is playing sounds because there is activity in the mixer when a song or other sounds are playing. The problem is there is nothing coming from the speakers. Is it possible that my audio ports on the motherboard could be faulty?

One day my sound was working fine, and then after spending a long day of sound editing (with headphones in) sound suddenly stopped working from the internal speakers. Sound works from my headphones when they are plugged in but not my speakers and drivers are working properly. Now, here is the odd thing... whenever I change the volume for the 'Independant Headphones' from the sound panel, the sound works fine from the speakers with no problem for about 2-3 seconds! The default is currently set to 'Speakers and Headphones'. I have tried unplugging and replugging headphones to make sure the jack switch is reset in both slots, still no luck!
I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop and have recently upgraded to windows 7 professional (32bit) from windows vista. Everything seems to be running smoothly except I can get no sound from the internal laptop speakers. When I plug in external speakers in via the jacks on the front, sound comes through fine, but as soon as I unplug them there is nothing. Headphones also work like this too. Under sounds in device manager, it simply says 'High Definition Audio Device', and I'm not sure if I should be downloading some other drivers?
My PC beeps 6 times when I try to turn it on, no error messages come up on the screen, the moniter and computer just go striaght on to stand by and the beeping continues.
have been playing battlefield 3 since came out.no problems.but 3 days i think after i installed 285.79 nvidia beta drivers after ~15 minutes of playing computer freezes.even curson doesnt move..i only can restart..but i only noticed freezes during the game..and not always but most of restarts are followed by (i havent counted) ~8-10 beeps and computer opens..bios is award..i didnt find any beep codes for that since award has no that kind of beeps regarding to the internet..and the beeps doesnt come on post screen..it comes right after i push restart button...
Have a custom made desktop running 7 32bits on an Intel DG43NB board 4GB and a Q0650 processor.I recently acquired this machine for nothing and changed the thermals and did a good clean up and it has been running fine as my tester until last night when I booted it went to get a coffee came back to find a blank screen and the CPU fan running full tilt. Rebooted and the machine starts up then stops > three beeps > machine starts up again and runs full tilt again. There is no video - have tried the DVI and the AVG output out of the card and the mobo connections so I cannot get into BIOS to see if there is a problem there. Being three beeps I thought memory so change it for same - another brand - no differences.Took the CPU cooler off and powered on an the CPU started to get warm but not so much as one could not keep your finger on it. Reinstalled the CPU with AS and replaced the original RAM - no change.Has the mobo crashed for some reason or is there another thing I could check? Perhaps the PSU volts as my mate suggested?
Recently my computer (HP Pavilion Slimline s7700e PC, running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit) has been starting with two short beeps; lower in tone than previously... the first beep a little lower in tone than the second. The tone repeats itself one more time.
A couple of weeks ago the computer was making beeps that signaled a memory error, so we removed and replaced the memory modules and the computer booted up again, but with the new tones. It's been running fine since.
This morning I attempted to turn the computer on and nothing happened. I went and booted up my laptop to check my email, and while I was doing so the desktop computer suddenly came alive, with the same two lower-toned beeps has been the norm lately.
If I restart my laptop, on the BIOS (i guess?),it will ask me to choose OS, which there's only 1 option (Windows 7).After that, the laptop will beep contionuously, short continuous beep to be exact.Nothing weird happens, except the beeps. And if I boot my laptop normally, it won't beep. From what I've searched, I assumed that it's RAM's problemBut, it will only beep if I restart the laptop.
i use my PC every day and it has been rock stable for years. however lately i have an issue while browsing: the computer freezes randomly when i'm online. It freezes completely -even the mouse- for a few seconds. Then it beeps once from the speakers and unfreeze at the same time. No BSOD or anything else.
Seems like a hardware problem, but i am not sure. It should beep from the desktop inside if it was the RAM. Also, i tried a lot of stress-tests to ensure 24/7 stability It passed memtest for >12hrs, HD tune, IBT, and even prime95 for 24hrs, to fail when i opened 5-6 chrome tabs!
I have my USB plugged in, it's bootable, and it has Windows 8 installed on it. When I restart my PC, my BIOS has USB set to first boot. It just keeps beeping and beeping until I remove the drive and reboot.
My computer beeps twice during start up then option comes of pressing F1 to continue, F2 to enter menu and F12 to enter Boot menu. I have DELL XPS 15 laptop, and I am using my lappy from last one year. Is there a problem with my hardware?
I have a Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme PCI-Ex, and Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX speakers. All speakers work; all software, drivers and codecs are up-to-date. Recently I noticed that in the Speaker Setup screen, the test button only results in sound from the left and right front speakers.
I checked because after a VLC update, mkv files no longer played correctly in the 5.1 mode. Music played, but the voices were muted (while no speakers are muted, and all are connected). I have to select "2 front, 2 rear" Audio Device in order to hear the speech as well.
I have the same problem when playing movies in PowerDVD, where I have to select the 2-speakers setting in order to hear all the sound.
Note:
- Previously the test button did sound all 5 speakers
- The test button on the Logitech remote still sounds all 5 speakers
only my front left and sub and main speaker work and if i put the cords in a different hole then only one will work and i got all of the in the right colour coded hole i have tride everything WHAT DO I DO!
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Dell Inspiron 1545. I have had this laptop approximately 3.5 years and have never had a problem until we returned from vacation a few weeks ago. I shut down my perfectly working computer and came back to beeping and auto-scroll. I have run virus scanners, registry cleaners, driver scanners, and pc cleaners and have yet to fix this problem. There is no pattern to the beeping, It will beep anywhere from 2-5 times at the Dell logo screen and then continually for approximately 100+ beeps at the Windows start screen before booting normally. My screen auto scrolls in all browsers as well as my email. I use Chrome and Thunderbird
I am having a major problem with my laptop (Dell inspiron 1520). The laptop starts up, whe the dell logo disappears I get some very quick beeps (there must be about 8 beeps in total). I then get a boot manager screen which shows windows 7 at the top, and windows memory diagnostic in the tools section at the bottom. When I press enter it goes to the password screen and then after entering the password it seems to boot up as normal. I can probably get 2 - 3 minutes use out of my laptop before everything freezes. From this point I cannot do anything and have to tur the computer off by the switch. This is all it does in a constant loop.I have tried everything I can think of but still the same issue.
A couple of weeks ago my daughter spilt a little water on the keyboard. I mopped it up but next time I booted it up again the beeping noises started on start up. I removed the memory stick from under the keybpard and noticed there was signs of water damage. I removed the memory stick and the beeps on start up continued every time I booted the laptop up. But everything worked. Last Friday I was browsing the internet and that is when everything frozeI have tried to restore to an earlier date but it won't let me complete the restore. I have run the various disk repairs that are offered when pressing F8 at the dell logo screen but to no avail (it doesn't seem to find any issues). I really just want to get my files/photos off and then try and reinstall windows but as explained my computer won't stay on long enough for me to be able to do anythingThe computer will stay on in safe mode, however, it will not load in safe mode with networking. Could it be something to do with wifi? Reason I say this is I have been reading various threads and this has been suggested as a possible issue for one person's similar problem.
i posted earlier today on another thread and how convenient i have another problem, i have a sony vaio L series touch screen that all of a sudden beeps twice on different occasions, when i have my projector to it (projector is not on all the time) i may be watching netflix online and then beep beep everything minimizes. doesnt happen all the time when it beeps but its just annoying.
My laptop (Hp Pavilion dvx4 1 1/2 years old) suddenly won't load Windows 7. It turns on, fan and DVD drive run but the mute and Internet icons on the keyboard remain red and there are two flashing lights on the keyboard (one beside the caps lock key and the other is above the scroll key). That's all it does. No beeps, sounds or cursor. I had noticed a problem with my sound on a couple web sites prior to this but no error messages ever displayed indicating any problems. I bought this laptop at Best Buys and they installed a recovery disc but other then that I don't have the original Windows 7 disc in order to try to boot from CD-rom.
I Just brought a brand new Lenovo G570 laptop and was browsing the internet using wireless usb stick from a provider and my battery drained out and when I connected my power cord back up, the Laptop re booted and since then I am having an issue. The PC beeps a booting and asks for a OS selection highlighting windows 7 as the OS and waits for me to select it.
My computer boots up fine. All programs work fine. While I'm not using it (at least it hasn't happened while I'm using it) I hear it beep once and when I go to check the computer the screen wont show any picture, it's like the monitor is on but the PC is off.PC light is still on, hard drive still spinning and the fans are still on.I have to reset the PC and I get the "Windows was not properly shut down" message upon reboot.
I bought a new CPU and Motherboard today and put them together. I'm assuming I plugged the wires properly. So far no beeps when i start the computer but the fans are working and the LED lights light up. The monitor says "power saving" everytime I start it up. I have windows 7 32 bit installed on my hard drive and was planning to format it into windows 7 64 bit but I can't when my computer won't even start.
