Installed Windows 7 Now Mouse Stutters / Freezes Or Disconnects?

Feb 26, 2012

Just got windows 7 on my computer. Was running windows xp before. Ive been using the mouse i am now for over a year with no problems. Now since i went to windows 7, it often stutters when doing anything on my computer. The stutters usually are about a second long and are completely random. I could be playing a game, browsing the web, or anything else and it will stutter. When it does stutter, i do hear the "bu-dum" sound as if it was being disconnected/reconnected instantly. Sometimes the stutters dont happen for an hour, sometimes i get 5 within 15 seconds. I've tried installing drivers and what not.

Ever since installing Windows 7 (64 bits) my mouse stutters. Skipping every now and then, staying in one position while I move the mouse, etc. I do a lot of photo editing and it's really annoying and makes my work almost impossible. [code]

Mouse Lags (or Stutters) Every 5 Seconds?

Dec 27, 2012

I've been having this problem for the past couple of months and it's driving me insane. I've searched for hours on end without any luck of a fix.The problem is that my mouse lags (or stutters) every 5 seconds. The lag can sometimes be so bad that the mouse completely stops working for a few seconds.I've gone through 3 mice and they've all had the same problem so it can't be because of the mouse. The mouse I'm currently using is the Logitech Anywhere MX.

WMC7 Stutters During Playback - HTPC Box Freezes Sometimes

Jun 25, 2011

I am experiencing a unique issue with my WMC HTPC box. Anytime I watch content from either WMC7 or WMP7 I get audio and video stuttering every minute. Sometimes, the stuttering will cause the box to freeze up, forcing a restart. At no time do I receive memory warnings prior to or after each event. I've tried restarting the computer in the hopes of clearing the RAM, clearing the Temp Files, and running ChkDsk (at the time of this posting, the process has taken over 1 hour to complete - not sure if this is normal). I also installed Process Explorer to see if the issue was memory related. While it appears that WMC is hogging up to 3/4 of my RAM at some points, usage is mostly confined between 1.3-1.7 GB.

The spikes occur regardless of the RAM usage but not when WMC is running idle (meaning ON but not displaying content other than the main menu). Process Explorer appears to show that the issue is possibly related to SVCHOST - when I place my mouse over each spike, it displays SVCHOST but not the programs which that particular version of HOST is running. I am running WMC7 64-bit, with two 500GB drives (one mirrored), a third drive (2TB internal) for video and music, 4GB of RAM, an Intel i3, a Hauppauge 1850 Dual Tuner, and a ASUS P7H55-M PRO motherboard. I will update with ChkDsk info when it finishes.

Skyrim Stutters (Freezes Then Resumes) Every 5 Seconds

May 23, 2012

I played the game for 100 + hours without problem, then this problem appears. Skyrim freezes then resumes then freezes every 5 seconds after playing for a few minutes. I tried re-installing the game, lowering the graphics to low, removing all mods. This is also not a savegame issue, it happens even in a new game. Also tried running in windowed mode, did not fix the issue. I also tried using game booster(to see if a background is causing this). I also tried running the game in my Windows XP partition, got the same problem. I do have the latest drivers and patch. One thing I have noticed is my CPU load goes from around 90% to 30% during the freezing.

Mouse Disconnects/Reconnects Randomly

Dec 9, 2011

I've been running Windows 7 64x Pro for quite awhile (never had an issue) and recently my mouse will randomly disconnect and reconnect. It happens in a split second, basically windows makes that USB disconnect/reconnect sound. A couple times both my mouse and keyboard froze although the PC itself was not frozen. Additionally, all the lights on the mouse and keyboard were still on when that happened. I notice it mostly happens during gaming (fallout new vegas, mass effect 2 for example) although it does happen when I'm just on my desktop web browsing. The keyboard has only froze 1 time, the rest have just been issues with the mouse.

Here are my specs:
Windows 7 64x (6.1 build 7601)
RAM 8192MB RAM
DirectX 11
Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.4GHz
ASUS P8Z 68-V LE (Bios v0803)
nVidia GeForce 460 (285.62)
Corsair HX 750
mouse: Logitech mx518

As I'm typing this all my temps look fine (CPU: 34c, Mobo 28c). I read several posts that it could be something with Windows 7 saving power, but I've essentially turned off everything that would cause any sort of power shortage to my USB's or PCI buses so I'm out of ideas. I can't figure out whether its a Windows issue, Nvidia, my mouse is just dying (which I don't think it is considering the keyboard froze as well), my motherboard is bad (hope not since I just upgraded in july!)? OH also, I was having the issue, and did a complete reformat and it still occurs, although that doesn't rule out W7 if its a software bug.

Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Disconnects When Idle?

Nov 23, 2011

I just bought a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and it works fine when connected but it disconnects when my computer is idle. Once disconnected it is not recognized again when I start using my computer again. To get my computer to connect to it again I either have to restart or delete the drivers and reconnect the mouse. Is there a way to change the bluetooth settings so that it doesn't "sleep" after a period of time? I dont know if that is the problem but I cant think of anything else. I'm using the mouse on my desktop outlined in my system specs.

Mouse Freezes, Followed By System Lag And Mouse Icon Turns Fuzzy Pics?

My computer qwill freeze for a few seconds followed by system lag which seems to get worse (freezing every few seconds/taking 2 seconds to recognise a click etc.). If i reset my computer it resolves the issue but i was hoping you guys may be able to give me more insight as to what the issue may be.It nearly always happens when i am browsing in firefox. Have never had it happen to me during gaming etc. which is why i'm hesitant to believe it is to do with my GPU or it's drivers which are always kept up to date.i have included pics of the cursor and what processes were running at the time of the freeze/lag

Any Way To Get All Mouse Settings Back To Way They Were When Installed Windows

Dec 20, 2012

So today i installed the drivers for my razer deathaddder mouse on my laptop. The installation went fine, but the problem is it seems to have taken over or just messed up the configuration for my touchpad. After installing, the touchpad moved really slowly even though i hadn't changed any settings, and the acceleration had turned off.I decided to uninstall the drivers to reverse the problem, but it didn't change. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the touchpad drivers (latest synaptics drivers, same ones i had installed before), but this didn't solve anything either. I've tried fiddling around with the mouse settings but everything is configured the way it was before, it's just not the same.I want my touchpad to go back to the way it was. Is there any way to get all the mouse settings back to the way they were when i installed windows or something like that?

Windows 7 64bit Freezes After A While But Mouse Still Moves

Feb 1, 2013

I have upgraded from 32 bit Windows 7 to 64 bit Windows 7, and I've been having problems with it. After a while, a program would freeze, then everything else would freeze. I have checked for viruses, chkdsk, sfc /scannow, memtest86+, defragged updated my graphics drivers, etc, until I finally re-installed. The problem still persists, but it's not as dominant, but it is preventing me from working properly. I feel it's kinda obvious that something is activating it (but still random) but I don't know what.

Here is my System info:
System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 4541 Mb
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, 1024 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 1174695 MB, Free - 914805 MB; D: Total - 255999 MB, Free - 45742 MB;
Motherboard: Dell Inc., 0TP406
Antivirus: Microsoft Security Essentials, Updated and Enabled

And I attached some log files from DxDiag and HijackThis at the bottom of this post.

Windows 7 Blocks Or Mouse Cursor Freezes Even If PC Is Idle

Feb 5, 2011

Lately I have problems with my pc, sometimes the windows blocks/freeze and I must restart from the button; this happens like 1 time in 3 hours or 1 time in 7 days, it's random. The image freeze even if the pc is in idle. I have found another problem, the mouse cursor freeze for 2 sec (the image doesn't freeze, only the cursor), and after it's coming back to normal. I tried with several mouse's. I tried with another HDD and I have the same problem..

PC config:
cpu: i5 750 2.66
gpu: msi gtx 460 hawk
mobo: asrock p55 pro/usb3.0
ram: Corsair 4GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 XMS3 Dual Channel Kit
hdd: Samsung 250 GB SATA-II 7200RPM 16MB SpinPoint F1
psu: AntecBasiq Power 550W

I did reinstall the windows, update drivers and bios update, cleared cmos, tested the RAM with memtest86 (no errors).

Windows 7 Randomly Freezes. Mouse & Keyboard Then Unresponsive?

Feb 9, 2012

I got a new machine recently and it all works fine, except the operating system seems to randomly freeze. When it does the only way I have found to get out of it is to manually plug it out and restartOn freeze the keyboard and mouse become entirely unresponsive, the cursor does not move, nor do either click buttons do anything, if I'm typing somewhere the text does not appear, and Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't bring up the usual screenI'm running windows 7 home premium on a 64 bit machine. I haven't found anything quite like this problem around so I thought it deserved a new topic by itselfI can't think of what to do to determine the cause or any potential solution. Everything's up to date. I think all the drivers are too. I put in different virus software 'cause I thought that might be itdit: The last time it happened I tried putting the keyboard and mouse into different USB ports, but that didn't work.Edit2: I just went to my device manager and manually checked for updates for all the drivers, and it turned out my graphics card needed an update (I updated it myself about three weeks ago so I discarded this as a potential problem). So I installed the update.

USB Mouse Cant Be Installed In USB Second Port?

Nov 23, 2011

My laptop won't install my USB mouse when i plugged it into my second USB port. It only works in my first USB port when i first restored my windows 7. I tested using my pendrive in the second port and its working just fine. However, when i tried to use my mouse in the second port, it wont work, even the broadband which I am trying to use in that port.I recalled clicking the option "skip searching for drivers from windows update" coz i was on a slow net at that time and was kinda in a hurry, so yeah. Is there any way to make my laptop re-install the drivers in it coz my wild guess is that I chose not to install it last time so it wont try to auto install the drivers again.

Mouse Randomly Freezes For No Reason

Dec 8, 2011

Sometimes for apparently no reason at all my mouse cursor will just freeze for a couple seconds and I won't be able to move it. When this happens (I have Process Explorer minimized to tray) I can see that just about no CPU is being taken up either. So I know that this freeze isn't because my processor is being overworked. Also, it's not because I'm opening a program or anything, hence it is seemingly very random. Is there any reason why the mouse should randomly freeze from time to time when nothing that major is happening on the system?

Newly Installed Freezes At Startup

Nov 19, 2009

I just installed Windows 7 yesterday from Vista (I got a CD through the upgrade because I got a new computer) and the install went fine. It worked for about 4 hours perfectly, but suddenly it just froze. I couldn't do anything with the mouse or keyboard. After manually shutting it off (power button) I can turn it back on, it loads the desktop and I am able to move the mouse for a few seconds, then it freezes.

I've tried booting in Safe Mode (what I'm in right now) and removing all the startup programs, and that didn't help. So now I've come for help.

Current Operating System, pre-install

•Do you have a single OS on your computer, are you planning on multi-booting with this installation? Just 7 right now. I'm planning to do Ubuntu once I get 7 working.

•Are you multi-booting now? No.

Current Hardware

•How many internal hard drives (HD) are connected to your system? 1 250 GB drive.

•Are they IDE or SATA? I don't know. Probably whichever one's worse.

•How many DVD drives are connected to your system? 1

•Are they IDE or SATA Drives? I don't know.

•Any external HDs used? No.

•Are they connected by USB or eSATA? N/A

•Check Disk Management for any HDs listed with a yellow triangle and explanation point? No

•Is this a New Clean HD? No

• Have you pre-formatted the HD? What?

Windows 7 installation details

•Build 7600, Home Premium, 32 bit, from a DVD/CD upgrade disk.

Other

•Any Over Clocking of the RAM, CPU or GPU? No.
