Installed New Boot SSD / Internet Connectivity On Boot Up
Feb 7, 2012
I recently installed a new SSD and put my OS on it but every now and then when I boot up it just wont get an internet connection.Once its booted up and I restart Windows though its fine.It doesn't happen everytime but 50% or so I'd say on boot up.I'm thinking its something to do with how fast its booting up now and for some reason my network settings or drivers have not had a chance to load or something and its not getting a handshake with my router.

I tried to install Internet Explorer 9 for testing a website. It prompted me to restart after the install, so I did. It never started back up. Now my computer will not boot into windows except in safe mode and system restore doesn't facilitate at all.
This is my ntbtlog.txt:

this is what I did, since I have no CD-ROM, to install Windows 7 I created a partion X: NTFS and set it as the ACTIVE ONE, the put there the Windows 7 installation files, and opened prompt command to type bootsect.exe /n60 X: , next I restarted my computer, and automatically it booted into the Windows 7 setup, I installed Windows 7 on the partition C: and formatted the partition C:, everything installed and after the installation finished, a multiple choice menu appears that reads:[CODE]

I have a Toshiba M750 TabletPC running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Never had a problem until a few days ago, possibly until I installed SpiderOak's latest version, 9810. (SpiderOak is a backup/sharing software similar to Dropbox).
I'm using IPv4 with the following settings:
Fixed IP of 192.168.200.192
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.200.100
DNS1: 192.168.200.144 (our SBS2003 server's IP)
DNS2: 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS)
After I have used the computer for a day or two, IE and FF stop being able to browse, period. This is both on a home network, as well as when using Wi-Fi networks out of the house. Haven't used the laptop in the office so far. I have trace routed site names (not IP addresses, thus DNS resolves), which I am able to do successfully. SpiderOak is not running, but possibly any modifications to the OS/networking might have changed things. However, this could also not be a result of SpiderOak, but rather Windows Updates as well.
Other computers on the network (home) are able to browse the internet. I am only able to browse the net and get e-mail (Outlook) when I log into a VPN connection, and then it works fine. I have tried putting in DNS1 as the gateway IP, like all the other machines have, but the laptop cannot browse or get e-mail access - no idea why. I have tried disabling the LAN connection in Windows 7 and then restarting it, but this has no effect. No recent updates of LAN connection/drivers have been installed either.
IPConfig details:

Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : xxxx.local

I have a 260 GB SSD with my Windows 7 system on it, and I connected an old laptop HDD. Afterwards, it booted from the laptop HDD, and I did some perusing to run my Windows 7 disk and boot from that to "activate" my OS on my SSD.I tried this, but it doesn't display anything. I have disconnected all of the other HDDs (two laptop HDDs total) and now nothing is listed in terms of disks with Windows on it. It says, "If your operating system isn't listed, click Load Drivers and then install drivers for your hard disks." I can do this, and it brings up my SSD with all of the folders. Would this be a place to load a driver? I am not sure what I am looking for.I have spent about an hour looking elsewhere online but it doesn't seem that any body else has had my problem (or I wasn't able to find it). It recognizes my SSD in the BIOS, but it simply won't load from it. As well, when it was loading from my laptop HDD's OS (Windows 7 Professional 64-bit), I was able to access my C: drive (the SSD) and all of its folders.

Here's my setup, I was dual booting XP and Windows 7 RC1 7100 on two separate partitions and that was going swell.
When I found out 7127 got leaked I decided to use GParted to clear my XP partition and I installed 7127 on that partition. I can still see my files from the RC1 7100 partition but my bootmanager doesn't recognize another operating system on my PC.

I just installed a new HD and didn't think to take the old one out first. I installed windows 7 enterprise 64 bit and after installation could boot to either HD.When I removed the old HD, the new one would not boot giving "Disk Boot Failure" I have tried to repair the boot with a repair disk but no success. Maybe hook old drive up and boot to the new drive and copy the boot files from the old drive to the new one?

I installed a new motherboard for my Windows 7 Home Premium system and was surprised to find Windows won't boot now. I tried repair option from the install disc but didn tried the in place upgrade but after selecting the Install now option I end up with a message that the system was booted from the install disc and I need to start Windows normally and then insert the install disc again which of course won't work when Windows can't boot.I made a new install on a test hard drive to check my motherboard and it is working fine. What can I do? I would like to boot on my regular drive with all my data and programs and not have to go through the long process of finding and installing everything anew.

My grandfather called me yesterday and said the other day - his Dell Desktop automatically downloaded Sp1 and Sp2 and once it restarted - he could no longer connect to the internet. *Note - he is connected via a cable to the router* The computer shows he's connected to the router but it cannot connect to the internet.
He tried to use a "restore point" prior to the update, but they were all gone. There are 2 other computers connected to the internet and neither have any issues - one is connected via a cable and the other wireless.
I checked the settings on the router and modem and don't see any "stand-out" type issues. I'm not sure what else to do or check?

I am having a problem with my Toshiba NB505 Netbook - running Windows 7 Starter. I can connect fine at home to wifi- and also at my local public library. However I was unable to connect at a motel I was at recently and had the same problem when I visited a different local library. To be more exact, I was able to connect ok at these 2 locations - but there was no internet access. From reading, I suspect a 'DNS' issue of some sort, but I don't know how to go about remedying it.

I'm running 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP box we got about a month ago.
Lately, when I restart the system, I can't get any internet connection. I can access shares on my home network, so the nic is working and I'm getting an ip address from my router. If I disable and reenable the nic, the internet connection works again. I've tried disabling firewalls and things like that, but the only thing that fixes it is the disable/enable.
The network "troubleshooter" can't see anything wrong, and everything looks like it's configured properly, and nothing has been changes since the initial setup. It worked fine for a couple weeks and now doesn't.
Anyone seen this before? Hints? The disable/enable isn't a big deal but I know at some point I won't be home and my wife will have a problem and I'd rather not deal with that!

Two days ago I lost internet connectivity suddenly on my desktop (Dell XPS 630i, onboard Nvidia network controller, running windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) and have been unable to restore it. As my laptop (winXP sp3) can still connect to the internet and the router settings have not been changed (Dlink DGL4500), I'm making the assuption that my networking problem resides on my desktop alone. the network adapter gives me a 'limited connectivity' symbol and refuses to connect to my network, even though the router acknowledges the desktop's wired connection. The troubleshooting diagnostic sometimes finds nothing, sometimes finds that the computer is not obtaining a proper IP, and sometimes claims the problem is the router. I've also disabled windows firewall. Throughout this whole process I have been getting a 'Drive Power State Failure' BSOD during restarts (about once every four or five restarts, not consistently).
At first I was unable to replace the drivers or uninstall the adapter through device manager. After reinstalling the drivers using the Nforce 650SLI drivers on their website, I was able to do this, but this did not solve the problem. I also did a windows restore to before the problem occured, also with no luck. I've been through the event log and there are numerous code 5007 errors, which just tell me that the adapter timed out during an operation. I've also read through some forums online and tried several solutions including adding a DhcpConnBcastFlagToggle line into the registry: SOLVED: Network Icon Exclamation: No Internet

just upgraded my vista 64-bit install to win7 home prem 64-bit.
everything has been working great except for an internet/network issue. at random times, all of a sudden the icon in the tray gets that yellow exclamation point over it and says there's a network issue and no internet available. it's like that until i disable and re-enable the network adapter. there are other systems on the wired router and they're still working fine (vista and xp machines).
the strange thing is it *seems* to only do it when i start doing more than one thing at the same time. i.e. trying to watch Internet while playing an online game. or, downloading a pdf while streaming music. all of a sudden, all internet goes down (other computers still working fine though). once i reset the adapter, all is well.
any ideas here?

So long story short, my current os (w7) is installed on a non-boot partition of a now internal drive that used to be external. This wasn't an issue/I didn't notice because I had another unused internal hdd which DID have an old bootable os partition, and then I'd just choose the correct instance of Windows when that one booted.I have to get rid of the old HDD with the bootable partition. Is there anyway I can change the non bootable my currant OS is on to a bootable partition (ie thru windows, cmd, bios etc)

I have an XFX motherboard (x58i), model # MD-X58I-CH09. It has three PCIe slots. I have an Nvidia GEForce GTX 260 graphics card in one of the PCIe slots (middle of the motherboard). This is running two 22" displays with no issues at all.
I also have a Asus ENGT430 video card with HDMI output that I want to load into one of the other PCIe slots. When I do this, the computer will not boot properly. It starts (displays the splash screen for windows7), but after that it appears as if there is some sort of conflict. Probably a driver conflict but I cannot even see anything or log in to the PC. Will the mother board support two different graphics cards? If so, what do I need to do to get it to work. I have not installed any drivers for the ASUS graphics card because the instructions have you do this after booting. With Windows7 I didn't think I would have to install anything.

i bought a new laptop, an asus g75vw best buy model. i knew it had a slow hdd so i got a ssd while i was there. i searched online how to swap windows to the ssd and found what seemed like a good artilce on [URL] (link How To Migrate Windows 7 to a Solid State Drive - How-To Geek). so i did everything here, brought the os over, and the 200mb system partion thought i was ready to go so i removed the hdd and tried to boot, missing bootmgr. i replaced the hdd and left the ssd in, now windows will not boot with both drives installed, and i cant get it do boot from the recovery disk either. i am really at a loss here, i was hoping to just try to redo what i did to the ssd

I installed windows seven and it boots up automatically without giving me the option to boot into my old vista partition.
Background:
I am sure this is something simple, but I can't get it working.
I had vista installed and I used partition magic to repartition my hard drive on my laptop.
I made the new partition come before my old partition, because I wanted windows 7 to be my primary eventually.
I think it may have someting to do with making the vista partition active, but I am notentirely sure how to do that.

I have a custom built system. windows 7 installed but it will not start up in this system. A friend put the hard drive into his system and Windows started up fine on his. I ran the memory check on windows and it never said that there were problems but you have to be able to get into windows to see the report so i can't be totally sure. The motherboard was sent back and checked by the mfg. and i doubt that the processor could be bad if it was able to install windows 7 onto the hard drive.

Google Redirect/rootkit infection (See here), I managed to get more or less rid of the thing. After this, I have encountered a "c0000135 %hs is missing" BSOD just after the end of Windows loading that I corrected by modifying the registry following. So now my installation works properly except that no internet connection is possible. I've been trying to do it via ethernet, wifi and mobile phone tethering and it just doesn't works. No IP address displayed, even when I try to force a manual IP (normally everything is sorted out via DHCP) or flush all DHCP/DNS... infos, the diagnostic tool from Windows concludes to a possible defunct driver. I've got a clean installation of W7 x64 (same version, up to date) on another hard drive and of course, everything works well (it's from this installation that I managed to properly clean up the other one and modify the registry). Little detail : I uninstalled Zone Alarm in a not really proper way so it may be something with it too.

I had my HTPC up and running last night, watched a movie, turned it off and went to bed. When I woke up this morning I found that I couldn't get any sound while playing videos through my web browsers, thinking it might be a video card issue I first checked some of my movies, but they also wouldn't play with sound so I deleted my nvidia files and reinstalled them. No luck, on one restart I lost my internet connection with my router. If I look inside the Buffalo's settings, I can see my HTPC's IP address (after running ipconfig /all on the htpc) I did a system restore but that didn't work. I even went so far as to do a clean install of Windows on the HTPC, but that also didn't work. I keep getting the yellow triangle and the message "unknown network" The HTPC tells me to check my router, which I have restarted a number of times unplugging the cable modem and the Buffalo. Turn on the cable modem get it online, then plug in the Buffalo, but nothing works. I have tried switching ethernet cables, ports, but no luck.

My system was working fine last week until I've installed an additional SATA HDD, windows will boot up until the windows 7 logo after that its all black screen, I've waited for hours for some response to happen but nothing happened, I've reformatted it a few times with the same outcome. I've tried resetting CMOS a lot of times but to no avail. But this evening I tried taking out my Graphics card and other peripherals and then windows boot! it boots with all other accesories(wifi card, firewire etc.) and the new HDD but when I try to reinstall the Graphics card it goes back to a black screen after the windows 7 logo!! is it a case of a busted video card? if so then why does it have display? I also checked the back of the Graphics card's heatsink and it has this white paste-like goo that has hardened, should i clean it and apply new thermal paste?
