Installation Process Frozen At "Installing Update"

I've recently had ubuntu 10.04 installed on my laptop and I wanted to switch back to Windows 7. I have a copy of my windows 7 on my hard drive which I've used to reinstall windows 7 multiple times. For some odd reason when I try now every time I go through the process it freezes at "Installing Updates" and goes no farther. It doesn't have a percentage next to it or anything. I've deleted all the partitions, formatted it multiple times and still the same problem.

First things first. Brand new discovery! Did you know that it's impossible not to backing-up and lose your old files during Windows 7 installation? That's right! Microsoft contradicting it-self in the first steps of installation preparation step by step information. At first they say that we should back-up our old files as they WILL BE deleted. Then they practically force an option of where our old Windows files will be backed up into Windows.old folder. So the folders such as "Users, Program Files, Windows ...etc" will be stored in Windows.old folder. And any other files created by you that are stored in "C:" directory will remain untouched! So don't worry about upgrading or backing up anything, since Windows 7 does it all for you! My advice, just go with a clean install and you'll be safer that way. Now back to business. So, I just built my new system and everything seems to be running fine but I realized just as I was finishing the installation for Windows 7 that I was installing the 32 bit version (silly me I thought you would be given an option to choose once it started). Anyway, I'm at the screen where it is asking me to create a user name and name my PC for the first time. I tried restarting the computer with the 64 bit version but it just loads back to the setup screen. What is the best way to get the 64 bit version installed?

I am at the last part and it seems to be froze, it says "completing installation" its doing nothing, the little "..." at the end of the text are still going but that's it, is this normal? I am installing through a USB.

Hey. I got my windows 7 installation cd today. and I put it into my brand new windows vista computer. the installation started, but then it suddently stopped where it said "the computer has to be restarted". After having this message on the installation screen for 15 min I clicked the off button on the computer, and started it again.
Then the nightmare began, when the computer starts, it says: "starting installation" - then the error message - "The installation process cannot be started". if I click ok. the computer restarts and the same happends. if I X it. the computer restarts and the same happens. Im completely stuck with this error and cant either go back to vista or keep installing windows 7.
Tried to hold down F8 when it starts, but nothing happens. For now I just want to go back to vista.

Well this computer is brand new its supposed to have windows 7 its a Eee PC. A message pops up saying The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.as far as I know new programs were not added and the installation was completed the first time. I already tried safe mode but it does not allow me.
P.S. its the mini so it has no cd rom to insert the cd and it did not come with a cd.

i clean installed new WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL 32bit on laptop SONY VAIO VGN-FZ11Z.Operating system is genuine but downloaded from MSDN. But it is giving me a lot of process validation errors. Genrally these errors are coming on application launch. After that mostly application aborts or restarts.

Misunderstood a tech friend of mine and accidentally deleted both partitions when attempting to upgrade to windows 7. Now when I try to load the installation disc, it says there are no drivers anywhere and I'm unable to start the installation process. Is there somewhere I can download all new drivers?

I have a brand new install of Win 7, after which I tried to install a LINKSYS Wireless USB Adapter (WUSB300N) and during the copy files installation process I get ACCESS IS DENIED.and the process stops. I only have one id defined and it of course has admin authority, so I don't know what is wrong.

I have been trying multiple times to install Windows 7 to my hp pavilion g6-1007 laptop from an installation DVD but with no success so far. The problem is that I can't proceed with the installation. Every time I put the DVD and boot from there, first I see that black screen with the bar at the bottom saying "loading files".And after it finishes, it gets to a black screen (with only a cursor present) and then it does nothing more than that. It hangs there, no matter how much time I wait. The DVD-ROM also throttles down and the HDD activity LED stops blinking at all.I thought about a crappy image, so I downloaded the repair disk iso and burned a CD with it, but then I got exactly the same behavior. I'm thinking now of perhaps trying to install from a USB stick, as a last resort.

Mounted .iso image and proceeded to do a clean install, got till the end of the installation and an error saying: "Windows could not update registry data in the installation" popped up and reverted my setup back to Windows XP.
I don't have DVD burner so I don't have the option of burning the .iso to a DVD. I tried setting up a different partition through 'Partition Magic' but was not able to.

2) PC crashes while making a restore point.3) Reboot - normal startup. But when I shut down later, the update tries to install and the installation hangs. After disc activity ceases, I shut down manually.4) Reboot - normal startup.At this point, I decided to use System Restore to clean out any residue from the failed install before downloading the patch again. Yup, you guessed it, I used the damaged restore point. D'oh!5) PC reboots as part of restore process - I get a startup error.6) Scan for problems - attempt repair - recieve the following error. So here I am. My PC appears to be running smoothly, but I don't know if there's any hidden damage in the system. I still want to clear out any residue from the failed install before I download the patch again, but now I'm wary of using System Restore. Also, the MSE update notification has me puzzled - the last restore point I tried to restore to preceeded an MSE definitions update, but that restore failed (didn't it?) and anyway, I don't normally recieve definitions update notifications from "Solve PC Issues". This las left me unsure where my system is at restore point-wise right now.

I have a program called vueminder calendar. It's been installed for about a year and has gone through several updates, but for some reason this update came up saying your computer has set administrator policies against installation. I am the administrator of my computer and I'm the only one who uses it. I'm not sure what could havechanged. I am getting this error all the time with Windows 7. I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.

None: Clean installation. All motherboard features have not been installed yet. Only the basic drivers for the Motherboard.

When I try to download the updates they don't even start downloading. Windows gives me two error codes: 80070017 and 800B0100.I have already tried a microsoft update standalone package but that only seems to have installed one item.

Windows Update seems to be stuck in and endless cycle of applying the same 5 important updates over and over again. Probably been happening for about 3 months now, and despite going through the install process and following all the instructions to the letter, every time I start up, the same updates are available for download again. I currently have an ASUS K53E that I've put a 60GB SSD into. I recently had to send out the laptop for service with ASUS, but I swapped the SSD for the original drive at that time (to save the chance they may re-format the drive).In any case, their repair apparently included a BIOS update... When I got the computer back, I naturally swapped the SSD back into the computer. Since then I've had numerous issues, the most prominent being that WLE stopped working (Every time I load Messenger it inexplicably stops working), and when I attempt to un-install it it will have a problem and abort the removal.With skype, I installed it fine, but it will launch, have a problem, then close! This is extremely frustrating..So really, my first thought is that there is a BIOS-update related issue, because the BIOS was flashed with the other drive in the laptop, and the installation on the SSD was installed/configured before the BIOS flash.Am I looking at a clean install of windows? Or could I get away with just a repair? I'd really prefer not to reinstall if I don't have to (Getting the OEM install on the SSD was hard enough in the first place).

I reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer a week ago when I bought an SSD, and then 8 came out, and I got it for super cheap so I decided to try it out. Well, I'm back to 7. ANYWAY, my issue is that virtually all of my updates are failing. I saw this problem before I "upgraded" to 8, and now I'm seeing it again. My computer stays on the "updating" screen for a while, and then says the updates fails, and reverts to the last known function version of Windows. So my computer is useable, but I would like to have my updates so I don't have to wait 5 minutes for Windows to scratch its butt and get on with life.My error code is 800705B4.I wanted to show a picture of exactly what I'm seeing in my update history, but don't really want to take the time to sign up for a picture hosting website. my laptop has 8gb of ram and intel i7 quad 2630m. i had mozilla firefox + google chrome opened with 3-6 tabs while playing Internet video but when i was installing this 1 windows update my laptop lagged until it the update was nearly completed.i don't think i should be lagging but my question is when installing windows update is it normal to lag and does it use the cpu or hard drive?

I had a power loss while installing a windows update about two months ago. Ever since then my system will hang either on logging off or shutting down.I have tried making a new user (No Help)it hangs in safe mode also.I also do not have a list of prior updates in control panel since this problem.The system works fine other than that.

FYI: On last shut down of system on 9-24-2012(win7 ultimate) windows update installed KB2538243. When starting system back up several hours later, window's would not start. Started in safe mode, used system restore, all ok for now! Checked recent updates and found that the above update "failed to install" and was the only update listed.
