I have a new Dell Inspirion 5110 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and want to install my old Pp Deskjet 710C.

My computer, a HP Pavilion with Windows 7, can't install my old deskjet 710c It is connected with a cable with on one side a USB plug en on the other side the old parallel connector for the printer.If I put the USB plug into the computer Windows update starts to find the printerdriver and that's the point where things go wrong.In the end it says no printer found.

I have an old desktop I'm thinking about turning into an HTPC. I currently have an Nvidia Geforce 8800GT videocard, which says it supports 1080P: PNY

I'm trying to determine what is the best way to hook it up to my HDTV, which has both VGA and HDMI ports. Should I get a DVI --> HDMI Adapter for best resolution / clarity?

Or is hooking it up via VGA fine, even though I doubt I will get full 1080P performance.

i got an aaxa m2 projector and im not sure how to hook it up to my computer with windows 7. In xp i know how change the settings to i can have an extended desktop, or duplicate desktop which the projector then acts as a 2nd monitor but in windows 7 im not sure.. Is there some hotkey combination that lets me toggle through the settings?btw projector is pretty nifty! all the more reason i need to figure out how to get it to work on my laptop not just my desktop.

I am trying to hook a monitor & keyboard up to my laptop for my wife (screen on laptop is too small). I can get it to show on the monitor, keyboard works, but I cant close the laptop without it going to sleep. I have gone into the control panel to change the power settings on what to do when the lid closes but it is greyed out. I am using the admin account but still cant change anything. Laptop is a Samsung RV511.

I have done all that everyone everywhere seems to think would fix this issue.

My Dell 964 printer will not print after installing W 7 x64.

I tried compatibility mode to Vista service pack 2, tried unplugging, deleting and reinstalling drivers, it just will not take.

I am at a loss here and why can't this just be a simple fix??

Everything else seemed to adapt itself from the upgrade from V x64 to W7 x64.

Sure a few glitches, but all updated fine.

Any ideas??

After finally getting the internet to work on this little guy (needed to flip a switch is all) I now find myself completely unable to get the printer to work. looks like i'm not the only one.

I've tried everything - the dell forums are no-help-whatsoever (though this guy does appear to have gotten an older driver version to work)

is it possible I installed the drivers in the wrong order and screwed the pooch so to speak?

Dell Photo AIO Printer Issue

I need help getting my Dell Photo AIO printer 926 to work w/ Windows 7. I only plan on using it for a couple months until I get a new printer (once Windows 7 comes out that I know should work hassle free), but i DO need it now because school is starting and I don't want to have to convert all documents to word 2003 and then email them to my old computer...

All the drivers are installed, and it IS running in vista compatability mode. It just WONT print. When I try printing I usually don't get any errors. In word I do get an error though which says that the printer is not set up correctly. If I try to do a test page it just says cannot print. Windows 7 does not say anything is wrong.

Now I normally try printing from random websites, heres what happens. The first time that I send a document to print from a website it flashes in the document queue for about a second and then disappears. Afterwords if I try to send a document it won't even appear in the queue. From MS word I cannot even send the document... it won't work.

Now i DID get it to work once but that was after I had installed like 3 copies of the driver and the same printer was registered multiple times... I just couldn't have that. Oh and for some reason it had stopped the print spooler so I couldn't print anyways. So I went to removed all the drivers (and I think I removed all the copies, not sure how to really check...) and reinstalled the printer. Now the printer isn't working even though Windows 7 says it's ok...

Any ideas?

EDIT: oh, and any non-computer related functions work such as copying, whereas stuff like scanning/printing will not. So I figure it's something with the drivers =(

EDIT 2: working now... I reinstalled about another 3-4 times with different install settings each time, and I changed the service pack that it was in compatibility mode for; not sure which worked but atleast it's working now.

This happened before though before it turned off the print spooler, so I will mark as solved for now but It may break again. I'll update this again with info soon.

I have a Dell 2135cn MFP printer setup on my established network at home and all computers connect to it with no problems except 1

My win 7 64bit system will not connect to the printer when I try to add it, I get the error that states that the printer is not connected to the network. I can browse to the printer on 192.168.1.8 and see the print configure page so i know its visable through port 80.

I then installed windows xp pro on a vmware on my win 7 64 bit system and then installed the printer on the vm OS with no problems so I know the problem is with the win 7 64bit installation.

I have the latest drivers from dell and regardless of trying the setup the printer I cannot get the win7 64bit to see the printer during setup.

I have an old Dell 1600n printer I love connected on my home network.It's connected to one XP machine (and shared). All our computers here use it XP laptops, Win 98 desktop and my Win 7 laptop.However, I can't get it to install to my new Win 7 desktop.I've downloaded Dells drivers and extracted them to a folder in my user area; however, neither running the setup utility that's part of the driver package (which can't find the printer on the network) or using the Add Printer function in Win 7 (which can't find an INF file) are working. I had a Dell MFP1600n laser printer given to me a while back (Praise the Lord) & it came at the right time as I was destitute then & couldn't afford cartridges for a Canon I960.Here's the rub.There was no problem connecting & using the printer with a wired connection to a Linksys WRT54GS & a wired XP Desktop & a wireless XP Desktop (both older 86X systems).Though the 64 bit, wireless, Windows 7 laptop connected through the same router to the internet. As usual, it would not & still does not "see the XP machines". It also would not, through multiple configurations, connect to this printer.At first I tried to update the driver, but Dell only had XP 32 bit available. After hours & days of wasted time with "Add printer", I resorted to using a flash drive for the few times I needed to print something from this infernal Windows 7 machine.

I finally wondered if my head was stuck in the "soon to be obsolete, XP mode".'know, this isn't the first time Microsoft has Pi**ed me off & I understand that we are all "beta testing" a product that we have paid several hundred dollars for. I also understand the reason for security, but I don't want to spend 50% or better of my time trying to use an OS that cannot tell ME from a scumbag intruder. There are AV programs for that...As it came installed on my laptop (& of course I received no restore or install disks whatsoever with it), I'm stuck with trying to repair, rather than reformat. Unless I wish to pi** away a bunch more money to Microsoft.
