View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a total of six computers on my network - 2 running Windows 7 and 4 running XP. With the exception of one computer, all of the machines see each other on the network and can share files. One XP machine does not see the shared folders of my new Win 7 machine but does list it as a "workgroup" computer. When I try to access the computer itself I am prompted for a password. Passwords are turned off on the Win 7 machine and none of the other computers on the network get prompted for passwords to access this computer. I assumed that it was due to the setting on the Win 7 machine but they are all set for sharing with everyone on the network. Passwords are off. Firewall is off as well. The network name is consistent across all the machines. I've been unable to find any information on why just one computer on the network would be prompted for a password to access another computer on the network.

All the other computers/laptops can read and transfer files without a problem except for the laptop connecting to one of the PCs.
Both the laptop and the PC that is asking for a network password are on the same version of Windows 7 Home. I have file and printer sharing enabled. All are on the same workgroup. I have firewall off and I have turned off password protected sharing yet when I try to connect or print from my laptop to the one PC it asks for a password and I can't figure out why.
This only started recently a week ago. Prior to that never had this problem and shared files/printer without a problem
Why do you have to hide windows updates more than one time? Some times over and over till it gets it.
PS: And I don't aways even have the program installed in some MS office cases. One I needed to hide five times and that was the last one on the list.

Whenever I transfer a large file over the network to another system the mouse and other applications will persistently hang for a second here and there as long as the transfer is in progress. I'm sending 8-10GB files over from the secondary 2TB 5400RPM drive and no resources are showing as maxed out so I don't get it. I'm thinking of trying a 3rd party file transfer solution again, but this still shouldn't be happening with the default.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been encountering a problem with a small netbook which has a 1024 x 600 screen resolution. The problem is that the window of some application is un-resizable ( I've also tried to download a small registery hack which makes it possible to resize un-resizable windows, but it seems like it won't work with that one)So, as you know, it is possible to partially hide a window on the left, right and bottom borders of the screen, but it is impossible on the top border, where the window would just go down again (while it can't be maximized though ).Is there any way to make it possible to hide a part of the windows over the top border so I can see the bottom of the window ?
