is there a way of hiding desktop in windows 7. I have an application which runs automatically once the windows start. But the application takes a few seconds to start after windows. Windows Desktop will open during this period. is there any way i can hide the windows desktop on Start. I know windows desktop icons can be hidden.
View 1 RepliesI like to use the Desktop folder to save items temporarily, but I keep a clean desktop background with no icons displayed. This option is accessed by right clicking the desktop and deselecting View>Show Desktop Icons. I've been doing this since I was using Windows Vista. My problem is that now my Windows 7 OS never remembers this setting. Whenever I turn my computer on the icons have reappeared. Additionally, when I go to deselect the option, I have to do it twice for it to take effect. Is this a known bug? It's really annoying, especially when there may be things on the desktop you don't want others to see when you login.

It's called deskto configeration settings and after some looking around on the net I found sevealtutorials telling me how I'm not to delete it ut try and hide it.I've followed te insructions but when I go into the 'folder options,view, dnt show hidden folders. the box is already checked...
But when I lick on the icon propeties it says the icon isn't hidden.
My windows is minimizing the programs that im using. Well not exactly minimizing but sort of putting it back to desktop. I tried to install the windows again but whit no results. it's doing it again. I cant even write my documents in word properly because of this.

The hide/unhide arrows on my taskbar have disappeared and I can't figure out how to get them back. I went to properties and clicked on unhide inactive icons, but I still have the same 3 showing and none of my other ones.

The problem is that the window of some application is un-resizable ( I've also tried to download a small registery hack which makes it possible to resize un-resizable windows, but it seems like it won't work with that one)So, as you know, it is possible to partially hide a window on the left, right and bottom borders of the screen, but it is impossible on the top border, where the window would just go down again (while it can't be maximized though ).Is there any way to make it possible to hide a part of the windows over the top border so I can see the bottom of the window ?

However, when I hide my files/folders and then search for one of the file names in the Start Menu search bar, the file will show up despite it be hidden and the 'Do not show hidden files' option is checked. I also attempted to put a password on the folder (one folder has all the files I want hidden) using this site for a guideline: How to create a Password Protected Folder in Windows 7hen I lock the folder, I can still search for the files in the Start Menu search bar and they will open without the password. 1. "System reserve" which contains e.g.the Bootmamanger and MBR
2. First Win 7 installation ("main")
3. Second Win 7 installation ("reserve")
When I boot now at first the Bootmanager on the first primary partition is called/started which in turn starts the boot menu. In the boot menu there are currently two entries:
Windows 7
Windows 7
So I cannot distinguish between the "main" and the "reserve" Win 7 installation. How exactly can I modify/rename the two "Windows 7" entries in boot menu? After selecting and booting the actual Windows 7 installation the other Windows 7 installation is visible as a separate partition in WinExplorer:
C: Running Windows 7
D: DVD drive
E: Other (non-booted) Windows 7
How can I automatically hide the other Windows 7 installation? The drive E: should be available e.g. for USB sticks or network drives.
On occasion, when FF7 has been maximize, the Windows 7 taskbar (locked and set to autohide) can not be brought up with a hovering cursor. To get it back while in max screen, I have to fiddle around with minimizing and maximizing while bringing up the taskbar when it is visible...a real PITA, eh? Although I have researched this problem and have found out it goes back at least 5 years, I have yet to see a solution?
