Just signed up to share this with you all, since you helped me with 7 so much. Normaly I'm such a noob, but I guess I fixed the C-Media chipset problem. It's rather easy. It appears that the HT Omega Striker 7.1 (C-Media chipset) works perfectly with Windows 7 RC. So I downloaded the driver (here HT Omega - Driver Downloads) for my Club3D Theatron DD (also C-Media chipset).
After that I had the Xear3D working. Than I installed the drivers to my own soundcard. Somehow it didn't update the Xear3D program. After assigning the sounds to digital out in the control panel and in Xear3D, I have full working 5.1 out via toslink.
This all started earlier today it worked fine yesterday no changes to my computer at all this only happens with avi files cant do system restore I dont use restore points uses too much HDD space
I am one of the developers of DriverMax. DriverMax is a good driver update application, but until now it only worked for 32-bit versions of Windows. The latest version of DriverMax (5.2) has added support for 64-bit versions of Windows.
I am running Windows 7, ver. 7000, on a LG S1 Laptop.
Everything has gone pretty well so far.
But trying to get the drivers and software installed for the direct media buttons hasn't gone so well.
I used the Vista drivers from LG, I had to run them with Vista compatibility. They seemed to run ok, but the buttons don't function any differently and I can't find the service anywhere except in the "programs and features" ie "add remove software"
I have installed Windows 2003 on my Dell Studio1435 notebook. Internet and Media drivers are not available with me. Please give the siggestion how an get the drivers for the above specificatin.
I have ran into a new problem with my media player, I tried to play a movie from a tv series and the video plays great but absolutely no sound. I tried music and it won't play either. I did some little research and I keep coming across things about codecs, I don't know what codec I need for windows media 12. I also have divx player and it wont let out a sound either. I'm clueless from this point and also I have updated my drivers for just incase but no luck.
I have VLC Portable as the default program for opening some video files, like .mp4 and .avi. And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players. But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)
How can I make Windows Media Player stop updating media every freaking time I start it up? It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I've unchecked every option that seems to make it scan and update but it still does it.Basically I want to UNLINK the Windows Explorer Library from the WMP Library.
I'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.
I can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to get some videos and pictures off my backup DVDR disk, but for some reason when I tried to restore them on my computer I always get this message:The media in the drive is not the requested media. Please insert the media with the following label into F:Name-PC 1/5/2011 10:49 AM Drive 1
I wanted to ask if it is possible to set Windows media player to open as the default player inside media center. The reason that I ask this is that I find media center sound is very low quality. I am using it inside windows 7 ultimate X64. I also use Media Browser and have set it to use media player as an external player but it loses some functionality after something is played I have to restart media center and media Browser to play anything again because it will go back to menus but not play anything untill
My main HD won't work on my main computer, it has "error 15 file not found". It works in my old computer and boots fine.It appears the problem is caused by an old install of linux onto that drive. The accepted solution is to use the repair on the install disk and type into console bootrec.exe /FixMbr. It said it was successful but i'm still getting the same error. It then goes to a big red screen with grub command.
I did a very stupid thing and now need assistance. I have redirect malware or something on my machine.A search on the topic, talked about using ComboFix as part of a solution. I downloaded it, installed it and it started running immediately, before I could do anything else.I know that was not wise. Now trying to start anything results in "Illegal operation on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." System is Windows 7 Professional.
All of a sudden the Up & Down Arrow Keys, the Page Up & Page Down Keys, the Home & End Keys no longer work properly. Whenever I click on any of them nothing happens or I am taken to the very bottom of the page. The only way I can move up & down the page is to use the Scroll Bar.
The last few times I have restarted my windows 7 PC everything goes according to how it should, the desktop appears in under two minutes but nothing will work. I can click on any icon and nothing happens then after about 20 minutes evey programme I clicked on earlier will open one after the other. after closing these progs the comp performs normally, I noticed that even Ctrl alt and delete does nothing during this period of disobedience, anyone had this before? It's a hi-spec machine with 4 gigs of mem
I followed the turorial and tried three or four times to make a VHD and it works but upon re-booting my PC the VHD I created is gone. I can get it back by re-attaching it but reboot and it's gone again. Oh my Bios is set up correctly in case any one asks.
I went on vacation for 4 weeks after returning, I plugged my pc back in and try to start it. After booting it shows me ''Starting Windows'' and reboots so I tried starting safe mode but that showed me a black screen and did nothing. I also tried Reinstalling Windows but the same thing happens It loads the files and then black screen nothing works. So I decided to use another hard drive but it also didn't work the same thing happens. My pc is an Alienware Aurora R2 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Not really sure what my specs are but my videecard is an HD Radeon 5670 I have a seagate hd 500gb My processor is an i3 not sure what sort but a dual core 3,02 Ghz and I have 3gb ram the motherboard is made for Alienware not sure what it's called.
When I try to install, I get an error in the beginning after the initial web update, every single time...
It says something about not having all the files available for installation? How is that possilible if I can succesfully install it on my other system? Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
I am also installing the CD on an external DVD/RW drive, since this old PC does not have a DVD drive installed. It also does not support USB 2.0. (1.0 only)
By the way, Windows 7 on my laptop has been running great! But my PC used to run 100 times faster with Windows XP. Is there any way I can get my PC running with Windows 7 just like my laptop, and even faster like before?
I'm having some trouble with media center, and actually also other video players..
I've been trying for some time to get media center running, but I keep having trouble with the codecs.
I'm running win 7 build 7100. First I installed ffdshow and used the MCDU to get media center to use ffdshow, and it worked. But then suddenly out of nothing about a week ago it didn't work anymore. When I tried to play a video-file I got the decoder error from media center telling me th-at the codec isn't working or isn't installed. It's all types of video files, avi, video_TS and so on. I then tried to uninstall ffdshow and install it again, but it didn't help. I then tried to uninstall again and install a different codec-pack. Didn't help. I have tried to install many different codec-packs but nothing helps.
Then I tried to play the video files using other media players. When playing video files in VLC the picture is kind of pixellated, doesn't look good at all (it's like watching the picture of Ripley's daughter as an old woman in Aliens if you remember).
I can't find a solution to this problem as I don't know what is wrong.
I replaced an XP laptop with a Windows 7 machine. When I VPN into our 10 network I can't get to any 192.168.5 addresses. The XP machine works fine and I have used it this way for 6 years, only the Windows 7 doesn't. I looked at a lot of settings but I can't find anything out of sorts. Any clues? My ipconfig ip is whatever my local router is ex 192.168.1.x and my local connection 2 is a 10 network address.
For years I've had an internet provider that required me to use certain IP addresses, assigned to me by that provider. It worked perfectly fine all the time. Now, for several reasons, I have a new provider. This one requires auto detection for the IP address (or whatever it is called in English, "Automatisch beziehen" in German). And now I often have connection problems on the PC in my study, which is connected via router. Then I can't access the internet. Windows shows me my usual connection which is called Network 2 and tells me it has no connection, and it also shows me a new Unidentified Network which it obviously created by itself which also has no connection.Unplugging and re-plugging the network cable doesn't help; Windows does a new network scan then but the problems remain. I have to re-boot, sometimes even two or three times, and then all of a sudden the Unidentified Network is gone and my regular Network 2 is working again.
