I did a very stupid thing and now need assistance. I have redirect malware or something on my machine.A search on the topic, talked about using ComboFix as part of a solution. I downloaded it, installed it and it started running immediately, before I could do anything else.I know that was not wise.Now trying to start anything results in "Illegal operation on a registry key that has been marked for deletion."
System is Windows 7 Professional.
My computer has been lagging for about two weeks now. Figured I had a problem so I scanned it with a bunch of AV software (all in safe mode) to include: MSE, Malwarebytes, ClamAV, Hitman Pro, Bitdefender, and Spybot. ClamAV found two trojans and removed them, and I thought all was well with the world. I was wrong. Windows has been crashing and basic programs such as Outlook and Chrome have been sucking up major memory and freezing my system. So I downloaded it and ran the whole process. Like I said I was desperate. It wasn't until after it was finished, when I read the logfile and the quarantined-items file, that I realized that I was in over my head. I did some more research and found that I in no way should have been messing around with such a program, especially with my lack of IT background.

I have tried flushing dns,reseting,releasing,winsock etc. When I do ipconfig I get tunnel adapter local area connection media disconnected unidentified network, tunnel adapter wireless connection media disconnected unidentified network. ipv4 connectivity no internet access, ipv6 no internet access.

Once it was finished, my laptop rebooted and I was presented with the "Preparing Log Report" screen, so I eventually closed ComboFix. Nothing would run until I rebooted and now everything seems to have gone back to the way it was (sluggish performance included.)After some quick research, I came to realize that running ComboFix without assistance is a bad idea. I'd like to make sure I haven't done any damage to my system and, if possible, improve its performance.

Asus G50VT (BestBuy edition)
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel Core2 Duo P7450 (2.13GHz, dual core)
4GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 9800M GS 512MB
Aftermarket Broadcom WiFi adapter (I needed this to run Mac OS X alongside Windows and Ubuntu, but only Windows is installed now.)
Also, due to reheating, I recently removed the heatsinks from the CPU & CPU, cleaned out dust and applied Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease.
After I ran ComboFix, all my programs now receive an error message: Illegal opeertaion attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion. It doesn't matter what program I try to execute, I receive the same error message. I am also unable to start internet explorer on that computer. Is there some way to restore my computer to where it was before I ran combofix? I also can't get do a DOS prompt. I am running windows 7 64-bit.

View 2 Replies View RelatedVds.exe is missing completely from service.mcs. I made the terrible mistake of actually deleting this service. Now several functions do not work on my computer. I have ran combofix in hopes that it will repair/replace missing files. I did keep the log file if anyone is interested in helping solve the dilemma.Mod Edit: Removed ComboFix log attachment, not germane to missing Windows services and CF is a malware tool which is not used in this particular forum while no information has been provided to indicate malware.

My main HD won't work on my main computer, it has "error 15 file not found". It works in my old computer and boots fine.It appears the problem is caused by an old install of linux onto that drive. The accepted solution is to use the repair on the install disk and type into console bootrec.exe /FixMbr. It said it was successful but i'm still getting the same error. It then goes to a big red screen with grub command.

After booting it shows me ''Starting Windows'' and reboots so I tried starting safe mode but that showed me a black screen and did nothing. I'm having some trouble with media center, and actually also other video players..
I've been trying for some time to get media center running, but I keep having trouble with the codecs.
I'm running win 7 build 7100. First I installed ffdshow and used the MCDU to get media center to use ffdshow, and it worked. But then suddenly out of nothing about a week ago it didn't work anymore. When I tried to play a video-file I got the decoder error from media center telling me th-at the codec isn't working or isn't installed. It's all types of video files, avi, video_TS and so on. I then tried to uninstall ffdshow and install it again, but it didn't help. I then tried to uninstall again and install a different codec-pack. Didn't help. I have tried to install many different codec-packs but nothing helps.
Then I tried to play the video files using other media players. When playing video files in VLC the picture is kind of pixellated, doesn't look good at all (it's like watching the picture of Ripley's daughter as an old woman in Aliens if you remember).
I can't find a solution to this problem as I don't know what is wrong.
I replaced an XP laptop with a Windows 7 machine. When I VPN into our 10 network I can't get to any 192.168.5 addresses. The XP machine works fine and I have used it this way for 6 years, only the Windows 7 doesn't. I looked at a lot of settings but I can't find anything out of sorts. Any clues? My ipconfig ip is whatever my local router is ex 192.168.1.x and my local connection 2 is a 10 network address.

It worked perfectly fine all the time.Now, for several reasons, I have a new provider. This one requires auto detection for the IP address (or whatever it is called in English, "Automatisch beziehen" in German). And now I often have connection problems on the PC in my study, which is connected via router. Then I can't access the internet. Windows shows me my usual connection which is called Network 2 and tells me it has no connection, and it also shows me a new Unidentified Network which it obviously created by itself which also has no connection.Unplugging and re-plugging the network cable doesn't help; Windows does a new network scan then but the problems remain. I have to re-boot, sometimes even two or three times, and then all of a sudden the Unidentified Network is gone and my regular Network 2 is working again.

It works perfectly fine in no add-ons mode. Ran HJT to remove all BHO's and possible add-ons causing problems. I don't believe the computer has a virus anymore. I've ran MBAM, Combofix, Hitman Pro, Kaspersky, TDSSKiller amongst other ***. Oh AND it works fine in safe mode. Tried clean boot in regular mode, still didn't work. Created a new user account on PC, still didn't work. Ran check disk. Ran SFC. Reinstalled IE9. Manually removed all add-ons via registry editor.

When running what I consider to be normal programs (normally always with Chrome open) my computer will slow down or freeze altogether. Clicking on programs will cause them to fade out as they do when not responding. Pressing the windows key will sometimes bring up the start menu, often very slowly and then cause it to freeze as well.
