Ran Combofix And Now Nothing Works
Jun 25, 2011I did a very stupid thing and now need assistance. I have redirect malware or something on my machine.A search on the topic, talked about using ComboFix as part of a solution. I downloaded it, installed it and it started running immediately, before I could do anything else.I know that was not wise.Now trying to start anything results in "Illegal operation on a registry key that has been marked for deletion."
System is Windows 7 Professional.

Feb 22, 2013My computer has been lagging for about two weeks now. Figured I had a problem so I scanned it with a bunch of AV software (all in safe mode) to include: MSE, Malwarebytes, ClamAV, Hitman Pro, Bitdefender, and Spybot. ClamAV found two trojans and removed them, and I thought all was well with the world. I was wrong. Windows has been crashing and basic programs such as Outlook and Chrome have been sucking up major memory and freezing my system. So I downloaded it and ran the whole process. Like I said I was desperate. It wasn't until after it was finished, when I read the logfile and the quarantined-items file, that I realized that I was in over my head. I did some more research and found that I in no way should have been messing around with such a program, especially with my lack of IT background.

Mar 16, 2012ComboFix was recommended to me in the past, so I disabled avast! and I ran ComboFix as an administrator. Once it was finished, my laptop rebooted and I was presented with the "Preparing Log Report" screen, so I eventually closed ComboFix. Nothing would run until I rebooted and now everything seems to have gone back to the way it was (sluggish performance included.)After some quick research, I came to realize that running ComboFix without assistance is a bad idea. I'd like to make sure I haven't done any damage to my system and, if possible, improve its performance.

Asus G50VT (BestBuy edition)
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel Core2 Duo P7450 (2.13GHz, dual core)

Aftermarket Broadcom WiFi adapter (I needed this to run Mac OS X alongside Windows and Ubuntu, but only Windows is installed now.)
Also, due to reheating, I recently removed the heatsinks from the CPU & CPU, cleaned out dust and applied Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease.
Windows 7 RAM Usage Error?
Jun 21, 2012I have a Hp Pavilion dv7 with Windows 7 Home premium 64bit. on it. I have the pc now a year and recently it crashed because of a malware program. I backed everything up and restored my pc to shipping options. After this restore I get a lot of problems with my RAM usage (my pc has 3gb ram). When I work with normal things on the computer it mostly lasts for like 1 or max. 2 hrs before it freezes and i have to reboot. When i play a game like League of Legends, it mostly lasts for like 20 minutes and 50 minutes with game booster on. The point is, before my crash , my pc didn't have these RAM problems... I played LOL as much as i wanted to but now i can't play at all.

Apr 28, 2012Vds.exe is missing completely from service.mcs. I made the terrible mistake of actually deleting this service. Now several functions do not work on my computer. I have ran combofix in hopes that it will repair/replace missing files. I did keep the log file if anyone is interested in helping solve the dilemma.Mod Edit: Removed ComboFix log attachment, not germane to missing Windows services and CF is a malware tool which is not used in this particular forum while no information has been provided to indicate malware.

Just a few days ago I've started to have an issue where after my computer is running for a couple hours all processes continually increase the amount of memory they are using until I get an out of memory error. At the moment I've got a Windows Vista 32 bit version and 4 GB of RAM.
32 bit Windows 7 requires at least 1 GB of RAM, but can only use around 3.5 RAM.
64 bit Windows 7 requires at least 2 GB of RAM, but can use larger amounts of RAM.
Now whats best for me?
Buy a 64 version so I can use my full amount of RAM (but loose 2GB for the OS)
or just upgrade to a 32 bit version, neglecting the 0.5 RAM that Windows cant use?
(how much RAM does Windows 7 (32/64) use in an idle situation?)
Ram Usage Keeps Going Up?
Jun 13, 2011When I turn on or restart my PC after everything is loaded the task manager says I'm using 25% of my Ram. After two or three days my ram usage goes up to 50% while just sitting there.
It never really goes up past 50-55% but I want to know why it starts at 25% and then goes to 50%.

Jul 4, 2011Ok so my computer is acting up , at first i thought it was a ram issue , but when i am only use 1 gb of ram ( i have 2 gb) my cpu usage goes to 100 then drops to 30 then back to 60 and so on , even on start up it goes to around 50% without anything opened. So i tick the show all process on my task manger and i see alot of svchost , more than 6 running, should i be worried, i heard some of them could be a virus and i also MsMpeng.exe running and it uses 50,000 usage, it uses more memory than google chrome. both svchost and MsMpeng.exe worries me , iknow svchost is safe but it also good be a virus.
