I have had this problem for some time, and it seems to come in spurts. When running what I consider to be normal programs (normally always with Chrome open) my computer will slow down or freeze altogether. Clicking on programs will cause them to fade out as they do when not responding. Pressing the windows key will sometimes bring up the start menu, often very slowly and then cause it to freeze as well.
View 1 RepliesMy A200 has been upgraded to 4GB RAM, and Win7, worked fine for a while, then started randomly freezing with weird screen stuff (video not displaying properly). Power off only worked. Much frustration and removal of progs later, tried on safe mode - works fine. Safe mode with networking - works fine. Can plug it in (surefire way to get it to fault normally) and in safe mode it works fine, in normal mode, immediate fault.
Thought perhaps a horrible malware, did clean install from disc of win7, no change (except now, coz I deleted all the Toshiba drivers, the dvd drive is noisly lol). Can't load progs to run the damned thing properly because it won't run in normal mode, only safe mode. Tried formatting the hdd, but it won't let me (partitions) which I thought were reformatted during a clean install anyway?
Haven't tried changing the charger yet, because it works fine in safe mode, so I thought probably a software issue? Have tried minimal or "clean" normal boots, freezes immediately.
I have just installed Seven(7100), I like it (it seems like a better Vista version ) but I have some mouse issues, it is a bit hard to explain but when I rollover a link, a folder, a button ... it freezes for few millisecs.Is it a video driver problem ? A mouse driver problem ? When I plug in the Linux device to the Windows 7 machine, it takes about 50-60 seconds to obtain an IP Address on the 10.XXX.00.X network from Windows. In Windows XP with the same configuration, the IP Address is obtained almost immediatelyAfter the minute of waiting, everything is fine. I bought this Fujitsu laptop for less than a year. Its only for my school work. It takes forever to bootup, startup and it sometime hangs when I open up a program or typing.For the bootup, it takes very long time on the window logo, after that the black screen, followed by the welcome page with the loading cursor. Each of this process take a long time. For startup, its not so long but its still quite lag. For the opening up of program and typing, everytime I open up my visual studio, it will take a long time to show up and even if it showed up, it will be "not responding".So I will have to open it a second time before I can start using itWhen I am typing my codes, it will randomly hang and show that the program is not responding. I am still able to move my cursor though.

when i have been on the internet for say 3 hours i get at least 3 crashes (mouse pointer will not respond and ctr alt del will not respond.
my daughter says that windows 7 is prone to crashes. could my problem be due to the encryption? or is it due to a fault with windows 7.
During installation using 64 bit dvd it says the product key isn't valid, but it works fine on 32 bit dvd.
Any ideas?
i've had this pc for a year almost now and it just started to freeze at random moments for like 10 seconds, but after that it return to normal. it can really be annoying while watching Internet or something the sound gets really irritating. the picture stays the same, and after few seconds it just quickly rewinds in few pictures.

My computer lately has been lagging or momentarily freezing when I open a program or window. The most disturbing problem is that my laptop shuts off whenever it feels like it. I had to do a System Restore just to get it to turn on yesterday. Luckily I have come acrossI have a working knowledge of computers, enough to get me by so far, but this is way out f my league. In case the info is important I use AVG for anti-virus and also Windows Advanced Care (recommended by a friend). My computer is used mainly for gaming so I would love to get this fixed ASAP since shutting down mid boss fight is highly irritating.

On many occasions, after I close IE8, seems like iexplorer.exe freezes. I can open Task Manager via Ctrl+Alt+Del but it does not respond to any mouse/cursor action. Therefore I can't "End Process" since the window does not respond. I can see two iexplorer.exe processes still running but I cant terminate them.
The workaround is to "Log Off" and then log back in. I am the only user and have full administration rights.
When I log off, I can see all pending actions blink momentarily before I am logged off. Ex; Start pullup opens, Taskbar right click popup shows up, etc.
Other than that it seems to work fine. Only four (4) add ons on the Browser; IDM, AVG, Adobe and Google.
SpyBot, AVG and Malware Bytes don't find anything wrong.
Any suggestions?
Every time I click on a gray scrollbar and drag to scroll, Windows 7 freezes. I notice this most in explorer (first happened in control panel), and it seemed to be just a problem with any scrollbar in explorer, but then it happened in OpenOffice too.
In Firefox however, there doesn't seem to be a problem. I have just installed Windows 7 RC (32-bit) on my brand new computer, so surely not a virus/malware issue. All drivers up to date.
I'm able to reset or hard shutdown. Cannot Ctrl+Alt+Del.
every time i move my mouse, my mouse will freeze for few sec. Also while it' freezes, the plug and play sound is played.

The problem is that after a period of time of using my laptop (movies, browsing,...) it just ends responding. (I'm talking about 10-15minutes of use) for example:
Im watching an xvid, the xvid freezes, I say '**** not again'. Then I try to exit the mediaplayer and get to my desktop, try to get to the taskmanager but can't. Then it freezes. The hdd light remains on and stays like this. after this I do a forced shutdown but pushing the button for 7sec.
This same problem also occures when I'm on the net with my mozilla firefox browser, I don't know about the other browsers but I'm guessing that they would have the same issue.
All my devices work fine except for the intel turbo memory (pci memory controller) for wich i can't find a driver... there's another thread about it on this forum but the people don't seem the have the same problem I'm experiencing.
Im using Windows 7 RC 64 BITS and i have one soundcard "C-Media CMI8738/C3DX Audio Device PCI" in my computer and every time that i click on the XEAR 3D icon to configure my audio, my computer freezy...he just stop working and i have to restart.
I try to download the last driver from C-MEDIA website but it doesn't work.
Is there's something else i can do?

I have a problem with my computer. It started when i play world of warcraft. Sometimes the game would freeze but i can still see the mouse cursor move around it would stay like that for about less then a minute and then continue like normal. It would happen a few times when i played.
Now its starting to do it when im not playing the game it happens if im browsing the Internet or messing around wint a media player or with anything i have installed on my computer. it just stops and says that its not responding for about a minute and then its working again. i don't know what it could be.
What would cause some of the games and printing flicker and freeze on me?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on a 640 GB western digital HDD running Windows 7 Professional.
The symptom is that the computer RANDOMLY - no pattern to the freezing whatsoever- freezes. During this time, whatever sound was playing will stutter for a while, the screen will remain frozen with the image that was last on it. Their is no keyboard response, numlock etc... or mouse response.
Upon restarting, the event log has no recollection of what caused the issue. I have checked,many, many times, over the course of 3 weeks now. The only error it contains is the one stating that the computer unexpectedly shut down. Nothing else is pertinent.
I have all the latest drivers, for everything, BIOS updates, etc... as well as windows updates.
On top of that, i have reformatted my computer, and the problem still persists, but here's the kicker:
On a secondary drive, running windows XP professional 64 bit, the computer works just fine, never freezes at all, so i doubt its any hardware component, i have left it on for days to test this, and it still functions properly.

E8500 Intel processor, core 2 duo 3.16 Ghz
8 GB of RAM
Cross-fire setup: two ATI Radeon HD4850 series cards

It works in my old computer and boots fine.It appears the problem is caused by an old install of linux onto that drive. The accepted solution is to use the repair on the install disk and type into console bootrec.exe /FixMbr. It said it was successful but i'm still getting the same error. It then goes to a big red screen with grub command.

All of a sudden the Up & Down Arrow Keys, the Page Up & Page Down Keys, the Home & End Keys no longer work properly. Whenever I click on any of them nothing happens or I am taken to the very bottom of the page. The only way I can move up & down the page is to use the Scroll Bar.

After booting it shows me ''Starting Windows'' and reboots so I tried starting safe mode but that showed me a black screen and did nothing. I am also installing the CD on an external DVD/RW drive, since this old PC does not have a DVD drive installed. It also does not support USB 2.0. (1.0 only)
By the way, Windows 7 on my laptop has been running great! But my PC used to run 100 times faster with Windows XP. Is there any way I can get my PC running with Windows 7 just like my laptop, and even faster like before?
