I replaced an XP laptop with a Windows 7 machine. When I VPN into our 10 network I can't get to any 192.168.5 addresses. The XP machine works fine and I have used it this way for 6 years, only the Windows 7 doesn't. I looked at a lot of settings but I can't find anything out of sorts. Any clues? My ipconfig ip is whatever my local router is ex 192.168.1.x and my local connection 2 is a 10 network address.
i just bought dirt cheap Nec PCI card to USB 2.0 5-ports. and i cannot get it work at all i googled and there is no single prove it could work for win7 64 bit.so, which pci card to usb that actually works for Windows 7 64 bit?
once in a while I get a small dialog box pop up in the lower right hand corner of my screen that tells me there is a very high CPU usage with Microsoft Works Calandar. I know that program comes along with Windows 7. I never use this program.
I'm currently using Windows XP and making a lot of use of MS Works Version 8.0 (2004)for various databases and also printing labels from these databases. Is this MS Works program compatible with Windows 7 (and 8)if and when I decide to buy a new machine? Same question for MS Money Version 14.0 120 1105 (2004). I also have a brilliant but ancient (1988 vintage, updated for Windows) MS-DOS "Masterfile" database by Campbell Systems (later taken over by Tower) which still works on XP - what about Windows 7 and 8?
got problems with my USB sticks. I have 2 Platinum 16gb sticks. I run a dual boot system with XP an Windows 7. If I plug the sticks when I'm running seven, seven says the volumes have to be formated. When I plug them while I'm running XP everything is fine. No problems...
Same system. Different OS...
The sticks are new. I tried to format them, but after I plug them into my Pioneer CDJs. The same behaviour appears.
I've read through several threads & discussions here and at Microsoft and it seems that Logitechs don't work well with Win7-64b.I have two webcams Quickcam Communicate STX & Chat and the videos work but the sound does not. Have gone the full 9 yards to figure out why, consulted Logitech tech; seems that their webcams are not compatible with Win 7
We used to use ZetaFax, I'm told. I'm new to the company. We no longer use ZetaFax. Since bringing in Windows Vista Business and Windows 7 Pro computers, and Windows 2008 Server, we now use Windows Fax and Scan.We use Fax Server on the server with quad port RocketModems installed. Now, here's the problem. Some of our employees are having problems using Windows Fax and Scan. The way they use faxing is by finding the file (usually an Adobe Acrobat pdf), open it and then go to the Fax printer. This then auto faxes the document using Windows Fax and Scan. For most of our employees, this works fine. But, suddenly for some it does not work. When I visit the ones who can't fax, I open Windows Fax and Scan and try to launch it. It does not launch. On some of the computers, the user gets a message that the format must be tif. For others, they get a message saying that they can not access to the document folder.I'd like to remove Windows Fax and Scan on these computers and try to reinstall it and see what happens. How can I do that?
I have Windows 7 on 250 gb hardisk and do not work anymore, may be problem with MBR error. I want to install new instalation (not clean install) because i want to restore my old software back). How can I do that ?
my mothers computer got a few trojans and a bunch of other stuff so i downloaded the windows 7 iso file from microsoft site, mounted it onto a USB, deleted the partition, formatted it and successfully installed windows 7 again. Or so i thought...
- The only thing on the desktop is the recycle bin. Not that it matters too much, she wasnt using all the BS programs that came with the computer
- All the icon sizes real big, like an old school safe mode desktop
- Most important so far: Cant connect to the internet. The computer cant detect the wireless router as it dont have the drivers installed. Now the network of course works because im using it on my (Pardon my swahili right now) macbook. Now im old school (tried to find DOS to format type old school) and maybe i should have gone with the "restore to previous computer settings" option, but the bank that detected the trojan said format everything so i did. This option cant be used anymore.
I'm dual booting Ubuntu and Windows 7 and I've got a wierd problem. Internet, both wireless and wired, works normally on Ubuntu but doesn't on Windows. I've installed wlan drivers but Windows somehow doesn't recognize any networks.
Wanted to let ya know that Lotus Notes 8.5 works in Windows 7 RC. didnt try it in the BETA (7000 build) tho. I installed it with Vista Compatibility Mode.
My Gigabyte GN-WP01GS stopped working after upgrade from Vista 64 to Windows7 64.From another PC I went into Gigabytes website, this one: url...downloaded the latest driver for Vista 64 onto a USB-stick. Unpacked the file on the USB-stick. Installed on my Win7(64) PC. Accepted update. The network icon now indicated networks available. Selected my network. Now i works!

I have just recently built a new computer and am trying to use my older vga monitor with it. The monitor displayed fine while installing the os but after it finished the monitor goes right into sleep mode. I updated all my drivers for the onboard video and my video card and have switched between the two in my bios trying to make it work. So far the monitor displays up to the loading windows screen then goes straight into sleep mode. The most annoying thing is that the monitor works fine as a secondary monitor, just not a primary.
I have recently purchased a new desktop PC which runs windows 7 (64 bit) My previous pc ran windows XP together with a wireless USB adapter (BT Voyager 1055) Where can I find a driver that will enable me to connect to the internet?
1st time poster, I have a HP 425 laptop, windows 7 professional. The laptop works fine in Safe Mode but in normal mode it works for few minutes and then goes blank. There is power and nothing works (the wireless button stops responding)I have changed the system board/motherboard, did a complete reinstallation, ran HP hardware test and memory test that comes with the laptop. I hooked the laptop to and external display and the display is blank as well. I logon in Safe mode and used msconfig and stopped th
When my new laptop goes 'to sleep' it occassionally wakes up with a hang up on the wireless connection. It is easily regained by a simple re-boot, but in XP the 'repair network' function was very handy, and actually worked.
However, on Windows 7, the 'troubleshooter' is useless - it never repairs anything, indeed, when the connection is lost, it doesn't even highlight that the laptop has a wireless capability. Going into 'network adapter' also is useless as it doesn't show the 'wireless' connection either, so I can't even disable/enable it.
Is there a small utility program out there that actually works to regain an occassional wireless hang up??
I could use my Windows 7 for exactly 1 hour then it stops responding which leads me to restart. After restart, I get an error of boot manager corruption so I have to use Setup disc to fix startup issues since this option won't show up the second reboot.
1) Checked the cables inside
2) Resetted CMOS to default
3) Restored Win7 to an older (working) version using Acronis
I have a mid 2010 iMac 27" 3.2Ghz i3 4GB ram 1TB hard drive space ATI HD4870.Running windows 7 x64 and OS X 10.6.6..I am using a wireless internet source from nearby, and the connection works great on OS X when I boot into windows the internet is completely un-responisive and when it does work its slower then glass (for those of you who don't know glass is technically a liquid)
My issue is that I have a usb device that when connected to my Windows 7 machine works just fine, however, when I connect it to a usb hub it does not. When connected to the hub, the device is detected by windows and goes from unknow device to the actual device name and the light on the device lights which it doesnt do if not installed properly.Has anyone else seen anything like this? Its not that the hub isnt working or that the device cannot be installed. Programs that interact with the device simply cannot when the device is hooked up to a hub.
I have documents created in Works 7 Database. Is there any conversion means to open them in Windows7 ? I have found a Microsoft site offering conversion software but only up to Vista.
I have an Alienware m15x running windows 7 64bit and recently reinstalled to try and improve performance. I installed using the cd, and then used the resource cd to install any drivers. Everything on the disk was installed, but I still can't connect to any wireless networks. Troubleshooting either says there are no networks available, or that I need to connect an ethernet cord.
I downloaded all drivers from the alienware and dell sites, and sill nothing.
I've tried all drivers, reinstalling and installing drivers in different orders and nothing is working.
We have a script that installs an application on a user's box. It can run on XP, Vista, Win 7.... So it uses the ver command and find to figure out what the os is. It used to run on my win 7 box. It no longer does. The find command now gets an error. I tried substituting findstr and it returns a good completion code regardless! The grep command works great but most machines don't have grep so that is not an option to use. I would just like to figure out why find doesn't work. The date for find.exe in the System32 folder says 7/13/2009. Is there something I can do to restore find? Listed below is the the command & output that helps determine the OS version using find/findstr/grep
I have a seagate 2 TB external HDD. It has 1 FAT32 partition. Everything works as expected in Windows Vista/7 and even in Ubuntu. When connecting the external HDD to any XP machine (tested 3 computers with XP), the device will not show up under My Computer. It is visible in Device Manager.Under Disk Management, the drive shows up without any labelling and has improper file system and partitioning. It's as though the partition table is messed up, however, the drive works perfectly on any Vista/Windows 7/Linux pc. [code] Not only is the capacity incorrect, but darn well everything else about the drive shows up incorrect under Disk Management. This happens with all XP PCs. Also, I ran a SFC /SCANNOW with one XP machine in the event the FAT32 drivers or DLLs were corrupted and no resolve.I reinstalled XP on the same machine and the results were identical.
I am having Windows 7 OS in my laptop. Tried to connect HP Deskjet 610c printer with the laptop using cable wire. In Windows 7, I searched for Windows update and it recognized the said printer. Now, the printer is added and I am also able to print the test page. Now, the problem is- if I am trying to print any other document (File--->Print) then the printer prints some special character #$% etc instead of printing the document properly.
