I have documents created in Works 7 Database. Is there any conversion means to open them in Windows7 ? I have found a Microsoft site offering conversion software but only up to Vista.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my battery went dead while the computer was on two days ago, but I've been able to get into the mail since.Windows Live Mail could not be started. If you've moved the database files to a new location, click OK to rest the database path to that location. (0x8007002) So far, to attempt to remedy it: Run a disk check Restarted three times Run Repair on the Live stuff Tried system restore to four days ago I even removed my anti-virus (temporary of course) None of the above has any affect.How can I save my emails without being able to open the mail program itself? As one of the few idiots, I did not back up my emails. Where are the located? I figure if I can find them, pull them into another folder and the reload the Live stuff.

It just won't open. Also on my taskbar I have a shortcut that shows my Libraries. I can access the Music and Video Libraries when this opens. But not the Documents or Photos one's. I get a click sound, but they won't open. I also can't save any picture project am I am working on in the photo's library. It just says I can't save there.

The order would be that the last file would open first, then the remaining files would open in the order they are listed in Explorer.Windows 7 is not like that. Here's what happens.Pick all 42 files, hit enter. Nothing. No error, no warning, just nothing happens.Pick 2 files, hit enter. Opens just like normal.Pick 20 files, nothing.Pick 10 files, works fine.Pick 15 files, works finePick 16 files, nothing.More oddness. When multiple files open, they open in a random order.More more oddness. Close them, then open then again. Random, but in a different random order!My thought on this is that it is just a bug. That the number of files is (16) or (2^4) or (hex f), suggests to me that the programmer didn't allow for numbers large than (hex f). Although that number could mean nothing and is simply a coincidence.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a folder in My Documents that doesn't open up (other folders in my computer works fine). I double click on it and it makes that clicking sound and flashes for a sec but nothing opens up. I can only look at what's in the folder by using Word 2007 then open and select all files. I scanned it with AVG and there's no virus. Most of the stuff in there are not downloaded, it's mainly documents which I typed on this computer, and the few things that have been downloaded I have opened before and there never seemed to be a problem until recently. I made a copy of the folder to an external hard drive and funnily that opens up. I tried to delete the original folder in my documents but it says folder in use and won't let me delete it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a number of users that I support that cannot open a PDF file downloaded from a training website (external website, not intranet). Using IE8 they get a flash of status bar activity and then nothing. On my computer with IE9 I have no issues opening them at all. I've changed all the security, privacy, content and advanced settings to match what I see in my internet options, but that hasn't helped.
I can't figure out what has changed between IE8 and IE9 that causes this. Adobe Reader 9 is installed on all machines. Firefox 10.0.2 will open the files also, but has issues with some of our propriety software so we can't use it as a workaround unfortunately.
They were working then I rebooted the pc today and went to click on computer and nothing happens, the only thing is the little folder icon comes on the taskbar and that's it, it doesn't open.Also all of a sudden my events viewer doesn't work either, get this error, specified query is invalid 15001BTW system restore wasn't on, I guess when I fixed my booting problem it turned it off, the only drives that had restore enabled where my other 2 drives not the one I needed.

The problem is all the solution I found to open those documents in Word are for Word 2000, which I don't have.

I think I might have picked up a virus. Anyway, after avoiding a crash , when going into my documents and then opening my pictures, there are no folders. But, when check "my pictures" properties, it list that I have 5,032 files using 6.32 gb. I tried to restore to different dates without any luck. I have also look at making sure it is not hidden

I dont want to save it - it is already there! How do I open it? View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having issues on an HP windows 7 home desktop. it had been infected by a virus, but this error came before it. Anytime I try to run Microsoft's fixit or any troubleshooter, it comes up with the error of that Sdiageng.dll is either missing or corrupted. so, I tried to run sfc from command prompt. well, if finds stuff alright, but alas, it can't fix it! so I look at the log, and it says that it's database is also corrupted. well, I have no idea what to do. I found sdiageng.dll in the windows directory/system files. it's there. I even replaced it. still, same error. this all started with me trying to fix windows update error 1 and 643. I have run numerous scans of malwarebyte's and trend micro and super-anti-spyware. they found some stuff, I got rid of it. but still the error remains. I have searched around for a way to be able to fix sfc's database, I tried one, but the commands were for vista. I was hoping it'd work, since vista and 7 are really similar, but it didn't. so I am hoping someone on these forums can give me some help. I know a fair amount of knowledge of computers, and whatever I don't know, I can usually find on google. and I know some information about malware and viruses and the whatnot that's bad stuff. I've had to remove malware twice from computers and I didn't kill them in the process.

I setup the new server 2008 R2 Installs SQL server 2008 express with management tools and called it MSSMLBIZ Install outlook 2010 and BCM and SQL 2008 express on a new windows 7 PC When I tried to connect my windows 7 pc to a new share database. I put in my servername and it found the databases I create and shared. But when I try to choose one they are all grayed and I cannot hit the connection button. I tried changing the permission in the data base (SQL). View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to centralize the Hosts file onto a network hard disk for a group of computers at my work place. However, the HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersDatabasePath registry item appears to be ignored by WIndows7. So far, after hours of researching on the Internet, and experimentation on one Win7 machine (Home Ed.), I have come to a personal conclusion that Windows7 does not support the DatabasePath anymore, and the existence of DatabasePath is either a left-over or backward-compatibility for apps and programs. I have found on the Internet only one (ask&ans) post on Aug/24/2011 that directly asks about both Win7 and the fact that the DatabasePath registry value being ignored. From the Internet, it seems that the problem with relocating the Hosts file happens mostly with Win7 (and works fine with WInXP), and any problems in the other Windows versions are mainly due to errors of some kind with either the registry's DatabasePath, or the Hosts file, or security authorization. In my experiments, I used a temporary folder in my 'c' drive to hold the test Hosts file, and I verified the following points:
-My test Hosts file does work as I've copied and tested it in the WindowsSystem32driversetc folder.
-No matter what the HKLMSYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersDatabasePath is set to in the registry, Win7 will always read the Hosts file in c:WindowsSystem32driversetc even after a reboot or "ipconfig /flushdns."
-I could MOVE the etc folder to the Windows folder, set DatabasePath to c:Windowsetc (or even %SystemRoot%etc), reboot, and Win7 will still try to find 'Hosts' in c:WindowsSystem32driversetc, after which Win7 operates as if the Hosts file was empty. (After verifying that Win7 will not load the Hosts file from c:Windowsetc, moving the etc folder back to c:WindowsSystem32drivers, and either rebooting or issuing an "ipconfig /flushdns"--without changing the registry--will reload the Hosts file table properly.)
-On the chance a program was interfering, I did a clean boot (using msconfig to prevent loading all non-system programs at boot-up), and Win7 still tried to read a c:WindowsSystem32driversetchosts file when DatabasePath was pointed somewhere else.
-The registry really is case-INsensitive.
