In Windows 7 if I open "documents" I can see my files but if I double click on one I get a dialogue box inviting me to "save" it. I dont want to save it - it is already there! How do I open it? Same problem if I try to find all files of a similar name in the "start search" box of the start menu. - I can see them but it wont let me open them.

The order would be that the last file would open first, then the remaining files would open in the order they are listed in Explorer.Windows 7 is not like that. Here's what happens.Pick all 42 files, hit enter. Nothing. No error, no warning, just nothing happens.Pick 2 files, hit enter. Opens just like normal.Pick 20 files, nothing.Pick 10 files, works fine.Pick 15 files, works finePick 16 files, nothing.More oddness. When multiple files open, they open in a random order.More more oddness. Close them, then open then again. Random, but in a different random order!My thought on this is that it is just a bug. That the number of files is (16) or (2^4) or (hex f), suggests to me that the programmer didn't allow for numbers large than (hex f). Although that number could mean nothing and is simply a coincidence.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a folder in My Documents that doesn't open up (other folders in my computer works fine). I double click on it and it makes that clicking sound and flashes for a sec but nothing opens up. I can only look at what's in the folder by using Word 2007 then open and select all files. I scanned it with AVG and there's no virus. Most of the stuff in there are not downloaded, it's mainly documents which I typed on this computer, and the few things that have been downloaded I have opened before and there never seemed to be a problem until recently. I made a copy of the folder to an external hard drive and funnily that opens up. I tried to delete the original folder in my documents but it says folder in use and won't let me delete it.

It just won't open. Also on my taskbar I have a shortcut that shows my Libraries. I can access the Music and Video Libraries when this opens. But not the Documents or Photos one's. I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had an unusual happening on my PC. First noticed some instability while trying to open a file from Explorer, could not scroll down to file and it was jittery. Then, every time I tried to enter on an input line, an endless string of zeros were input and I could not overide or erase. Even on Email addressees. I tried a reboot and the zeros appeared on the start up password line and I could not logon. Same thing after complete power cycle. I suspected a stuck key on the keyboard and tried a different keyboard but no help. So I tried a complete restore. At first, it seemed to have the same problem, but somehow, eventually, I got logged on and now everything seems OK. But I don't really know what caused this and fear it could happen again.

From time to time at any old time of the day (randomly it seems in other words) I'll go in and try to arrange, rename, or get rid of files and I'll get "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. When I try to open it I receive the error message "viewer.bat not a valid Win32 application". I'm also not sure how a .bat has anything to do with a video file (unfortunately I have no experience with .bat files).
There are is also a folder on the CD called "disstech" and it has three folders in it called "bin", "dis" and "log". What am I working with here?
