Windows Media Player Won't Load
Aug 16, 2012When I select Windows Media Player or "Play With" for any of my music nothing happens. I went into control panel and selected "turn windows features On or Off" and switched of media player, rebooted and then switched it back on again, rebooted again and it still won't work. I have a lot of other problems with my laptop too such as slow running, constant crashing and freezing, not starting up properly. I've done countless virus checks and not come up with anything. Most of these problems I've had since I bought the laptop but the media player has only just happened.

Apr 24, 2011Now i know there are a couple hundred posts about this subject on different sites too. But not one has had the same issue im having. So I try to open up WMP 12 and it doesnt even show that it loads, i then try to open a movie it flashes real quick and closes. I'm fairly sure that it started when i just did an upgrade to ultimate, but not 100% positive as i dont normally use WMP. So looking on sites and posts ive tried the usual, uninstall reinstall, deleteing library, even found one about mcafee likes to block it and tried messing around with that, but the issue ive seem to come across is it works on "my account" which is set up as an admin, but doesnt work on any standard user accounts, anyone else have this issue or know what to do? maybe its something with ultimate, but that doesnt seem likely.

May 3, 2012I am trying to take some training videos at a website [URL]. The videos are in windows media player format embedded in IE. I selected 4 trainings. So these are in my favorite list. I launched the first video, a new window opened and it started buffering the video and then the video started. I face a problem when I closed this video and wanted to go to the next one. A new window opens with windows media player embedded in the window but it doesn't do buffering to play. Interestingly, it still showing the title of the previous training that I closed. Looks like it is getting stuck in the memory. I am using IE 9 on Win7 (64bit).

Jun 13, 2012I'm having a problem with catalyst drivers. I installed Windows 7 32-bit yesterday and everything was working fine until I installed catalyst control center, which now causes the system to stay stuck on the blue windows wallpaper without explorer or mouse cursor. I can get to safe mode and perform a system recovery, then I can boot normally. I also tried multiple versions of drivers, but it always does the same thing. Im using Radeon HD5770, Gigabyte P43T-ES3G Mobo, Intel Core2Quad 2,5 GHz (not sure about the exact model number) and 4 GB Ram. Everything worked fine before reinstalling windows and my system specs are exactly the same as they were before.

A couple months ago I got the bad image date virus that disable my google chrome and my epson workforce printer, I had found it disable my print spooler, I got rid the the virus, but it did more damage, I uninstalled the printer drivers and went through the windows services and set them all to automatic, but I cannot reinstall the driver.
Then I saw my graphics and sound drivers are out dated but I cannot update them either, it just times out when I try to update them. I noticed when I try to update other programs, they hang up on the system restore point, so I tried to create a new one. I get the shadow volume cannot be created message, I set the shadow volume services to automatic, and went through all the dependency's but I still can't create a restore point, I am guessing the problems are related

May 30, 2012Anyways my problem is that my vaio is running Windows 7 64bit and suddenly one morning NONE of the network adapters were working. No WiFi, no ethernet, no nothing. I figured something just happened to the drivers (happened before) so i'd just reinstall them...except this time I'm hit with:

I have tried everything short of a full restore. I tried downloading the drivers straight from Sony, just the driver files for Atheros, I can't do a restore point since I don't have any from before the problem. I have searched everywhere for a working solution but haven't found anything yet. I would like to avoid sending it in.....it's still under warranty but I don't have a Sony store near me and I'm gonna be going out of town in a couple weeks..

Nov 11, 2009I installed Windows 7 Professional over the weekend and after installing all the Windows updates the computer ran extremely well. Today, I installed Office 2007 and didn't have any problems. When I turned off the computer there were about 20 updates for Office that got automatically installed.
When I turned on the computer again, the starting process was painfully slow, and the display resolution was not correct. On the Device Manager, the display adapter includes the correct NVIDIA adapter but there is a warning "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" (But it worked fine before I turned it off!) If I update the driver software, it says that the one I have is up to date! This also occurs with the coprocessor.

Dec 2, 2011I have ran into a new problem with my media player, I tried to play a movie from a tv series and the video plays great but absolutely no sound. I tried music and it won't play either. I did some little research and I keep coming across things about codecs, I don't know what codec I need for windows media 12. I also have divx player and it wont let out a sound either. Oct 26, 2009I'm rather new to Windows 7 but I've done my fair share of installing versions of XP and Vista to my machines and I've never run into this issue.
I have a Dell XPS M1330 computer with 3GB ram. I chose to install the 32 version of Windows 7 Pro from Vista Home. Everything, including Aero was confirmed would work when I ran the upgrade advisor. I did a clean installation after backing up all my files and loaded the most current drivers from the Dell website that were applicable to my serial number.
My problem is that when the OS is shut down or restarted PROPERLY, some drivers don't load properly and I'm stuck with a frozen home screen. I definatly know that my trackpad and video drivers aren't loading because the cursor will not move and the screen resorts to the lowest resolution possible.
However, if I do a hard re-boot by pressing and holding the power button, effectively triggering my safe-mode prompts, everything loads properly. It seems VERY strage to me that this would happen - I would expect it to either work or fail - not a combination of both!
I'm just curious if this is something anyone else has come accross - or if I should call Dell and make sure the drivers are current for 7 and try re-installing everything.
Usb Devices Will Not Load Drivers?
Aug 27, 2011when i plug in any thing into my usb plug it will say it failed to load drivers and then it shows up onder other devices in the computor management screen. It will show the name of the device but will not find the drivers. I can plug in the same devices into my lap top that has same windows7 on it and they will work.

Windows 7 Refuses To Load And System Repair Wont Load
Jun 25, 2012I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal. First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly. After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects.

Oct 5, 2010Ok so I recently moved from vista to windows 7 and everything is great except that about 40% of the time when I restart my computer, the mousepad and video card drivers don't load up. The mousepad stops responding and the resolution goes to 800x600. When I look in device manager those two drivers say they failed to initialize and need a restart, I will post the exact error messages soon. Then when I restart everything runs fine. But this consistently happens, I believe it happens everytime I install something new and then restart. I can't figure out how to stop this from happening, anyone know what to do?
