Windows Media Player Format Video Doesn't Load In IE 9
May 3, 2012
I am trying to take some training videos at a website [URL]. The videos are in windows media player format embedded in IE. I selected 4 trainings. So these are in my favorite list. I launched the first video, a new window opened and it started buffering the video and then the video started. I face a problem when I closed this video and wanted to go to the next one. A new window opens with windows media player embedded in the window but it doesn't do buffering to play. Interestingly, it still showing the title of the previous training that I closed. Looks like it is getting stuck in the memory. I am using IE 9 on Win7 (64bit).
When I select Windows Media Player or "Play With" for any of my music nothing happens. I went into control panel and selected "turn windows features On or Off" and switched of media player, rebooted and then switched it back on again, rebooted again and it still won't work. I have a lot of other problems with my laptop too such as slow running, constant crashing and freezing, not starting up properly. I've done countless virus checks and not come up with anything. Most of these problems I've had since I bought the laptop but the media player has only just happened.
Now i know there are a couple hundred posts about this subject on different sites too. But not one has had the same issue im having. So I try to open up WMP 12 and it doesnt even show that it loads, i then try to open a movie it flashes real quick and closes. I'm fairly sure that it started when i just did an upgrade to ultimate, but not 100% positive as i dont normally use WMP. So looking on sites and posts ive tried the usual, uninstall reinstall, deleteing library, even found one about mcafee likes to block it and tried messing around with that, but the issue ive seem to come across is it works on "my account" which is set up as an admin, but doesnt work on any standard user accounts, anyone else have this issue or know what to do? maybe its something with ultimate, but that doesnt seem likely.
yesterday i made a clean installation of windows 7 in my notebook but i'm not able to play any video file in wmp 12 . i can play the mp3s though it worked fine before i reinstalled the OS whenever i try to open a video file it says wmp has stopped working and gets closed
I've tried reinstalling the player, i've repaired it using Fix WMP , i've cleaned up the registries using ccleaner but no luck yet..

I am new to windows 7, and was trying to run the tutorials supplied my microsoft, but every time I try, I get a message saying that I need to download windows media player.
I will never learn anything at this rate. I cant see why the windows 7 creators would insist I use a player with the windows name, windows media player, if it does not even work. How limited and it should be embarassing.
BSOD while I was watching a movie using windows media player and had a few Google Chrome tabs open. This has happened several times already with no apparent pattern. Built my system at the end of 2010, added the GPU 2 months ago. Has been happening before and after the addition.
After unsolvable problems with VLC player (constant crash reports) I want to move back to Windows Media Player as my standard program to play audio & video files. But whatever I click and do, I cannot find a way to (re)associate the 'VLC'-files to WMP12.If I rightclick a 'VLC'-file in a folder, I can select 'open with' and then select WMP. But only for one instance! If i want to make WMP the default opener, I get this error message: 'This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default programs control panel' - Strange message, because this file HAS a default program already, I just want to change it!I have desperately been looking for an option Windows had in the past, where you can (in explorer, I think) get a list of ALL file extensions, then select which program to use to open a specific extension, then check the box
This all started earlier today it worked fine yesterday no changes to my computer at all this only happens with avi files cant do system restore I dont use restore points uses too much HDD space
my windows 7 just did that D@#m automatic update! Now my media player wont play video. I can hear it but i cant see it. I tried to undo the update and there isnt one listed for media player.
I get this BSOD when i update my software and windows.I'm with windows 7 service pack 1, toshiba's laptop suddenly, my laptop usually get BSOD like play music or video with any other media file, accessing internet, startup, or even make a data with ms. office.
I was messing around with the permissions and sharing properties of an external hard drive last night. not sure what I did but I cannot play video files from that hard drive anymore. I get this error message in vlc media player.
I wanted to ask if it is possible to set Windows media player to open as the default player inside media center. The reason that I ask this is that I find media center sound is very low quality. I am using it inside windows 7 ultimate X64. I also use Media Browser and have set it to use media player as an external player but it loses some functionality after something is played I have to restart media center and media Browser to play anything again because it will go back to menus but not play anything untill
How can I make Windows Media Player stop updating media every freaking time I start it up? It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! Is there a way to completely purge the WMP library and make it not update ever? I've unchecked every option that seems to make it scan and update but it still does it.Basically I want to UNLINK the Windows Explorer Library from the WMP Library.
I have VLC Portable as the default program for opening some video files, like .mp4 and .avi. And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players. But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)
I'm in grave problem here. I just installed windows 7 x64 a few days back. And initially I installed the 32bit version of k-lite codec pack for my windows media player. The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.
I can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nothing working right. No icons on desktop. Ads running in background. have to go into computer to get browser etc. Purchased computer with Vista on it.Up graded to 7 with MS window upgrade. Can I format and load win 7 without installing Vista first? I run virus and malware software and they found nothing.
A file called wmpntwrk.exe is consistently using 2.5GB of RAM and runs constantly, slowing down my computer. This is Windows Media Player. Norton frequently gives me an error message saying that 'Windows Media Player Network Sharing Device has high CPU usage' or something to that effect. It is running as a process the entire time my computer is switched on, regardless of whether or not I am using this program.
anyone knows if we can install WMP 10 on 7 x64?I really hate WMP 11 behaviors, I want it to be maximized at all, when opening it, it re-sizes itself to the size of media being played. Some times, it won't open media files and after a while says: "server execution failed".I have to re-open the media and it will open this time!Any Media Library, I hate it, I don't want WMP to be opened always in Library mode, I want it always in Now Playing mode.
Earlier tonight I found when I tryed to open a music file I got class not registered. I can use another player but when I choose windows media as my default player I get this error. It loads the windows media player then says this: Doesn't say class not registered anymore.
Media player won't rip CD's. When you go to options, Rip Music, there is no default location shown for the file. When you click "Channge Location", nothing happens. So I can't rip CD's in my version of Windows 7.
Would Windows 8 fix this or is there another fix I can use?
