May 18, 2009Whenever I play a video file (.wmv, mpg, etc) or audio (.mp3), MP starts out at the last size it "remembered." But when it opens the file and starts playing it, the window gets really small, like a default size and makes it difficult and annoying to re-size it to an appropriate size. Most annoying is MP becomes smaller such that the volume control on it disappears to just being a toggle for mute. Is there any way to change the default size of MP?

Dec 30, 2010My WMP12 used to work. but nowadays, what it does whenever i try to open it is show its window for like 20 milliseconds, then close. My Encarta 2009 doesn't work well, it says it needs the WMP to play, so does my desktop gadgets. I think something happened. i tried using sfc/scannow but even it cannot solve the problem. i don't know what to do. I am currently in dilemma because most of the Win 7 features rely so much in wmp12. how am i going to use it if doesn't work? P.S. i also tried turning on and off media feature pack. it doesn't work. I am currently using Win 7 Ultimate, 2 GB ram, 1 GB vid card and Intel Duo P6100. my laptop is just a month old but its system is like failing

May 3, 2012I am trying to take some training videos at a website [URL]. The videos are in windows media player format embedded in IE. I selected 4 trainings. So these are in my favorite list. I launched the first video, a new window opened and it started buffering the video and then the video started. I face a problem when I closed this video and wanted to go to the next one. A new window opens with windows media player embedded in the window but it doesn't do buffering to play. Interestingly, it still showing the title of the previous training that I closed. Looks like it is getting stuck in the memory. I am using IE 9 on Win7 (64bit).

It always hogs up massive amount of CPU power and goes into (Not Responding) for a min while updating.I only add media files to the Windows Explorer Library so I can get indexed searches. I don't even use WMP to view files or anything. Just to burn some music CDs sometimes.I've tried deleting the files from the WMP library but the next time I open it up, it scans and updates all my files again! And I have Foobar (portable) as the default program for .mp3.Usually the icons on .mp4, .avi, .mp3 files get updated with the icons of the assigned media players.But on this PC it's not working. They're still the same icons as if WMP was the default player.Does it have to do with the Standard user account? (Because on other PCs I run from an Admin account and I don't have such problems.)

The media center worked fine then. It was loading my ffdshow and ac3filter along as I checked it.But then yesterday I noticed that the same pop-up od recommended/express install of WMP came again. Initially I thought that it must be some bug or something, but then when my MKV and AVI files didn't work in WMC, I realized that somehow WMP x64 got triggered, and now it is using the x64 bit of WMP in WMC. And I just wanna revert back to 32-bit WMP in WMC.

Dec 20, 2009I can't get eithe WMP or MC to play a DVD. I've set the region code. WMP acts like it will play, but then just goes blank, and MC says it cannot play the DVD. These are original discs, not burned copies. I have a custom built system, with 2 graphics cards (GTX 260 and a GT 220) 6 GB of RAM, and an i7 processor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nov 14, 2012Media player won't rip CD's. When you go to options, Rip Music, there is no default location shown for the file. When you click "Channge Location", nothing happens. So I can't rip CD's in my version of Windows 7.

I copied a DVD from a friends LG Portable Super Multi drive (her computer is XP - in case this might be important?)to my external HD. Something from my Norton popped up earlier regarding GEAR software, but I did not understand it and so dismissed it, at the advice of a friend...I am not so computer savvy. Apr 30, 2012I just installed a clean install on my 64bit machine with Windows7 Pro. Media Player is nowhere to be found. Searching the drive discovered hundreds of files that are not executable and have the registry naming system in them, also found several .dlls but no executable. Microsoft's site simply says that it is installed with the OS and there is nothing about how to add it. I did look through all the add windows features and did not find it. I also tried to find the .cab file on the install DVD to see if I could manually install it, but I could not find that as the file structure of install discs has changed since I knew how to do this before.
