I upgraded from 7000 x64 to 7057 x64 and now I can't load unsigned drivers even after changing the option in advanced options with boot into F8. I use a Rosewill RNX-G300E wireless PCI adapter so I can't connect to the internet.

i have just tried out the kensington beta trackball works for Windows 7 64 bit, it works great ,apart from the driver not being signed by MS,I have found that by pressing f8 and allowing windows to work with unsigned drivers the program is fine ,untill i reboot!!! when if I allow win to load normally it does not see the expert mouse ,if I reboot again and use the f8 trick it works fine .

My Actiontec GT701 modem only has drivers up to XP. That's what I used it on before and what I HAVE to still use now since I can't install in on Windows 7.

Does anyone know a good way of overriding the signature enforcement in Win7 x64? The solutions I have seen either require using the boot-loader menu every time you start windows or using rather dubious third-party software - neither of which seem to be good solutions...

I don’t think I can put 64-bit on that machine, but I am considering 64-bit on the retail version when it is released in October. I tested about thirty 32-bit shareware and freeware applications on 32-bit Windows 7 RC and they all work well. My questions concern 32-bit drivers and unsigned 32-bit and 64-bit drivers on Windows 7 64-bit retail.
I have seen references to a BCedit command. I ran Bcdedit /set Bcdedit nointegritychecks ON on my Vista SP2 machine and it ran successfully. I have not tested what it will let me do as I now have no Vista driver issues. Here are my questions:
Which of these is the correct command to disable the signature check on Windows 7 RC?

Is there any reason to use the correct command rather than using F8 during the boot process?

The problem I have is that my RAID card (Promise FastTrak S150 SX4) has 64 bit drivers available, but the setup complains that it can't find any signed drivers when I point it to the flash drive containing the drivers. I know they're the correct drivers, but they're unsigned and the setup cries about it. It's currently running 7 x86 but the system needs to be on 64bit. The only reason i'm sticking with the card for the time being is it's a hardware raid card with 512mb ecc cache, and the board doesnt run raid 5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently wiped my main HDD to perform a clean install of windows however after choosing to do the advanced install windows alerts me that drivers for the HDD's are missing. When I go to load my drivers from my USB the setup gives me an error that it cannot find the driver files from the USB in the folder I stored them in however it detects the 32 bit versions I have saved. I proceed with those, choose the 64 bit OS and proceed with the installation however this just throws my comp into a boot loop when it reaches the restart part of the install most likely from the computer having the 32 bit drivers. The next time I try to install i proceed by loading the 32 bit drivers and then when told to choose the HDD to install the OS I click the load drivers button, this time it detects the 64 bit drivers however will not let me install them as they are not digitally signed. I have a feeling setting my HDDs to AHCI in my boot options will allow me to install without all of the driver problems. However I have been told that doing so would wipe my data HDD that I currently have all my stuff on.

In Window XP you can still install unsigned drivers but in Windows Vista SP 1 and Windows 7 Microsoft has introduced very restricted module of driver signature enforcement which doesn't allow us to install any incompatible unsigned drivers.

I just installed 7 on my second computer, a Dell Inspiron 6400. Since this is my work computer I opted to upgrade rather than do the clean install. I'm having trouble with UAC. Anything I click with the shield gives me the error:
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrect....." etc.
I cannot even register my key because doing so requires UAC.
There is only 1 user account on the computer and it says I am the Administrator.
I'm trying to install a BTTrace device driver for a wireless/bluetooth led on my Shuttle case. the problem i have is that the 64bit driver was built for xp 64, and therefore is not signed for windows 7. I have tried installing the driver in xp compatibility mode, but i get a message saying that the driver is unavailable to the program due to it being unsigned.
however when i bootup using f8 and disable driver signature enforcement, it works! now... i don't particularly want to boot up using f8 everytime i switch my pc on, and don't want to permanently disable driver signature enforcement. has anyone got any ideas or solutions?
I know that the Windows 7 Homegroups only work with other PC with homegroup.But I'm trying to find my other computers running XP with my windows 7 laptop.

Finally got windows 7 installed after about an hour, then after all the restarts and boots, finally logs in...
and i find that although my usb mouse is working fine, my Windows Multimedia Keyboard isn't working at all.
I tried installing the 7 beta of intellitype but no difference. Also after restarting Windows 7 it now gets stuck at the boot logo...
seems like i should download and install either 7077 or just go back to 7000..
Are branch builds of RC1 capable of using windows update to bring it up to the later RC builds? or will it be like the beta's and require a fresh install or upgrade?
I ask, because if 7057 is a RC branch build, then it would be convenient if I could just use windows update the rest of the time until the full version is released.
Is it possible to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit, I reckon the answer is no, due to the architecture change ?
Also if I was to change from 32 bit to 64 bit, what - In laymans terms - would I notice different?

If you want to revert back to build 7048 without having to do a fresh install and re-install all your programs you CAN actually do an "Update" from Windows 7 7057 to 7048.
You'll just get a Warning that the version is older than your current and that a device or two might not work --mine indicated the Motorola sm56 fax modem -- but I've got the driver for that anyway if I want to use it.
This leads creedence to the fact tha 7057 was "an Interim" build never intended for serious development use whereas build 7048 was actually part of the "True" development cycle.
Maybe my English might be mis-understood here -- I am NOT implying that build 7057 is a FAKE but just that it is a "testing" type build designed to check out certain parts of the process -- for example a lot of people experience longer install times before the Language menu comes up (perversly the better your gear the longer it takes to "start").
My advice would be that if you haven't installed 7057 don't bother --stay with 7048 until the next decent "leaked build" or the official RC1.
At least you won't have to look at the HIDEOUS logon screen.
Im running build 7057 on my Asus G50vt-X1 laptop and for some reason when I go to shutdown it will freeze on the shutdown background and not shut down. I'm not quite sure why. I have manually changed the logon and shutdown backgrounds via a regedit but it wouldn't complete the shutdown long before that. Any ideas?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 Professional over the weekend and after installing all the Windows updates the computer ran extremely well. Today, I installed Office 2007 and didn't have any problems. When I turned off the computer there were about 20 updates for Office that got automatically installed.
When I turned on the computer again, the starting process was painfully slow, and the display resolution was not correct. On the Device Manager, the display adapter includes the correct NVIDIA adapter but there is a warning "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" (But it worked fine before I turned it off!) If I update the driver software, it says that the one I have is up to date! This also occurs with the coprocessor.
Can someone confirm that it's a general problem or have I just got a bad D/L.
If I try and UPGRADE from Windows 7 build 7048 X-64 to Build 7057 X-64 it starts OK but after a while (during the expanding files stage) I get error -- some necessary files for installation cannot be copied ??
Clean install seem to wok.
HA1 and checksums of my iso seem correct.
Actually upgrading from a beta to another beta is not a goood idea anyway but I want to make sure that I haven't got a bad D/L before I try an upgrade from a Vista installation.
when i right click "computer" and then choose "manage" i get the following error:
i went to the specified folder and the file opens OK from there.
also it's associated properly in the default programs control panel.
i must mention the i upgraded to this build from build 7000.
I'm facing some trouble installing windows 7 x64 build 7057
When i click "install now" button after booting from the DVD-Rom. I get an error at times stating that i need DVD/CD-Rom Device Drivers and it does not detect the harddrive. However if i wait a little while before clicking the "Install Now" button, i pass on to Licence Agreement page.
From there i get a choice to Upgrade or Custom Install. If i chose upgrade it gives compatibility issue report as i do not have any OS running on the Drive i wan to Install Windows 7 on.
When i chose Custom i get to choose a partition. I chose the Primary Drive C partition as this 120GB hdd has no windows installed (my regular 500GB HDD that has winxp and vista64 is physically disconnected through this process). The Partition 1 has 29.8GB free when formated. I start the installation on that
The first Step "Copying Windows Files" takes few seconds and reaches 100% without error
The Second Step "Expanding Windows Files" stays on 0% for around 5 to 10 minutes and returns an error:
"Windows Cannot Install Required Files. Make Sure all files required for Installation are available, and restart the installation."
After I click 'OK', it says on the Screen "The installation was cancelled. Any changes that were made to your computer during the installation process will not be saved."
I do not understand if this is my hardware related issue or do i have a bad DVD. My DVD seems to be loading up fine and files do copy around from it. The ISO i copied this from seems to be ok. Could someone explain why am I facing this error and how can I solve it?
I tried installing the upgrade build 7057 over 7000 (x86) and it seemed to work fine. But then Windows 7 boots into the message "preparing your desktop for first use". It follows the message "Setup will continue after restarting your computer" and after ca. 1 Minute it restarts and does exactly the same. I tried that for about 5 times and it keeps doing that. No error messages.
Did anybody have this problem as well? Any ideas for troubleshooting?
Addition: I have just seen that people have problems with Norton 360, which I have installed, too. Maybe I can boot into safemode and remove Norton - I will try this tonight and report.
I've upgraded windows 7 from build 7000 to build 7057 (totall reinstall not just upgraded). My pc is connected to the TV (for movies and such), when the computer boots both displays work fine. After logon however I cannot get the second display to work. I can expand them all I want but, it simply won't work.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm rather new to Windows 7 but I've done my fair share of installing versions of XP and Vista to my machines and I've never run into this issue.
I have a Dell XPS M1330 computer with 3GB ram. I chose to install the 32 version of Windows 7 Pro from Vista Home. Everything, including Aero was confirmed would work when I ran the upgrade advisor. I did a clean installation after backing up all my files and loaded the most current drivers from the Dell website that were applicable to my serial number.
My problem is that when the OS is shut down or restarted PROPERLY, some drivers don't load properly and I'm stuck with a frozen home screen. I definatly know that my trackpad and video drivers aren't loading because the cursor will not move and the screen resorts to the lowest resolution possible.
However, if I do a hard re-boot by pressing and holding the power button, effectively triggering my safe-mode prompts, everything loads properly. It seems VERY strage to me that this would happen - I would expect it to either work or fail - not a combination of both!
I'm just curious if this is something anyone else has come accross - or if I should call Dell and make sure the drivers are current for 7 and try re-installing everything.
when i plug in any thing into my usb plug it will say it failed to load drivers and then it shows up onder other devices in the computor management screen. It will show the name of the device but will not find the drivers. I can plug in the same devices into my lap top that has same windows7 on it and they will work.

Stardocks LOGONSTUDIO works on both X-86 and x-64 versions of Windows 7 including build 7057 (which is the one with the hideous Dove on it and the pale blue insipid colour).
Whilst the supplied screens aren't very adventurous you can download others or "Roll your Own".
Maybe we should have a competition here -- It's a bit difficult to post the image as one hasn't logged in yet --so you can't capture the screen.
I might have a go by using a VM and then capturing the Virtual Machine image from the Host OS.
