I used to play Runaway in Vista but it did'nt open and it keeps me saying that "Error Starting DirectDraw" , but works fine in XP. Now if I play it in Windows 7 could it play. (I think it won't because Vista & 7 kernel is same. )

So anyway. Some time ago SP1 launched for Windows 7. I installed but it but something went it wrong and it didn't install correcly and then i was forced to use System restore. Everything worked and i haven't used SP1 because i don't want to risk screwing up my computer before some important things, i got plenty of time later for that . My objectives are to improve screen re-draw time and to decrease Windows' hard disk access. While there are other alternatives to consider, I'd like to invite the community to offer thoughts on two questions:
1. How to increase Window's RAM usage for paging/caching : The System Monitoring tools are showing that RAM usage is only about 30% of the 16Gb installed while Windows' hard drive caching is continuously busy. If there is a tweak to increase RAM usage, I would expand RAM memory to 32Gb.
2. Otherwise, I might install a 120 Gb Solid State Drive. Then, the question is whether using the SSD for the OS or as the cache drive as per Intel Rapid Storage
I have a Hp pavilion dv4-1225ee laptop. I was installing windows 7 in my laptop last night. I was sleepy so I switched off the laptop during the setup. In the morning when I switched on my laptop there is no display. So I attached an external monitor. When I put the windows 7 dvd, the hp logo comes and then there is a dash ( I dont get the press any key to boot) and then I get "Setup is starting services" error. When I press Ok. The same procedure is repeated.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo last night I went to reformat my laptop, halfway through I thought nah I don't wanna do this anymore so I clicked cancel. Now whenever I try to turn on my laptop, it just gives me the ERROR saying F3-F200-0002 and won't startup. I have tried pressing F8 on startup, but there is no option for recovery or repair in the menu, just safe mode, debugging mode etc.
I was browsing the forums and found out I should press 0 constantly while the laptop is booting and it will bring up the recovery wizard. Anyway, when I do this it says HDD recovery mode then it says Windows is loading files, then it goes to a page saying ERROR F3-FF00-0006.I have been told to download this file (Error code displays "F3-FF00-0006" on Windows 7 models) but I don't know how to make it work on my laptop that is broken (I'm on my nans computer at the moment). I have tried putting it onto a USB and slotting the USB in, but it won't work.
My friend has a virus on his laptop, which deleted his winnet.dll files. After trying everything he could he decided to do a restore. When he tried to restore he said it was taking way to long and decided to just to turn off the laptop. Leading to more problems, now every time he tries to boot the laptop it shows the loading files followed by the Windows loading screen. After that it shows a blank screen with the mouse. It says that "The ASInsHelp service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. When I search on my computer for anything with "ASInsHelp" in the title it takes me to an application extension file in a folder under Asus called PC Prove II. PC probe II is a program I tried to install but was unable to due so because my mobo did not support it.
Would uninstalling Asus Suite solve this error?

View 7 Replies View RelatedA while ago i dual booted windows 7 onto my vista running laptop and it works perfectly. It is a huge improvement on vista, it is faster, better designed and its new features are very useful. Because of this success I know am trying to dual boot it onto my xp running desktop. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like it.
I have used the same technique that i did on my laptop to install it. I have burnt the iso file onto a disk and run that disk while the computer is running. Checked for online updates and done a clean install. The installation works fine and quite quickly until it comes to the first restart. It restarts and I select "windows setup" on the bios screen as apposed to "an earlier version of windows" which is my xp partition.
It then changes to the starting windows screen that happens just like on my laptop, except the windows logo never materializes and it stays as a black screen with the words "starting windows" on it. i have left the computer on overnight and no change. I have tried reinstalling several times with no luck, both using the same method as before and booting from the disk at startup. Although when I boot from the disk it just skips straight to the same frozen windows startup screen.
I have downloaded the windows 7 adviser software but the program cant seem to make its mind up. Sometimes it announces that my graphics card cant run windows 7 aero and sometimes its fine. I have checked the windows 7 specs and my graphics card appears to meet all the requirements, both dedicated memory and direct x 9 support.

Currently I am experiencing a major issue with my computer. I will start my computer up and I get a BSOD within about 10 minutes. It has happened 10 times already and I have no idea how to fix it. I have read numerous forums, tried updating graphics card drivers, hard drive drivers. I have performed disk check and run a memory test with no errors. I am not sure if it is a hardware fault or other. The BSOD also occurred while I was in safe mode with netowrking turned on. I have tried doing clean boots and even tried disabling my graphics cards, network adapters and audio drivers. I will post the dump file which is always the same every time the BSOD happens.

FS9 (Flight Simulation 2004) used to run OK, no problems. After installing REX2004 patches and Overdrive, a few seconds after starting FS9 a BSOD occurs. So far no other programs have caused a BSOD. I have tried fully uninstalling FS9 and reinstalling it and the BSOD returns after the reinstall. At present FS9 is not installed. Have now created the file folder you requested to support this thread, see attached. I can again run FS9?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI received an unmountable boot volume error when starting up my computer last night and came to the conclusion that my 120gb ssd which contained the windows installation has failed.I still have my 1tb hardrive however, if I buy another harddrive or another ssd, will my computer work normally if I install windows with my recovery disk on the new hdd or ssd? Also, is it as simple as placing the new drive in and then installing a copy of windows on it or do I have to do some other steps prior to that?
View 22 Replies View RelatedA couple of months ago, I bought a new graphics card: a Nvidia 560GTX (Gigabyte GV-NV56GOC) and a new PSU (Corsair CX500 V2 Builder Series, 500 W) to run it and after 3 weeks the PC began to fail with the 116 error.At the begining it crashed only at Windows 7 blue starting screen (after the loading screen with win logo and a progress bar). It happened once every 4 or 5 days.After a month it was almost imposible to run unless starting in "FailSafe Mode" and began to crash in the desktop in idle. I tested it with another drivers, clean installs, changing cabes, etc... and nothing worked, only with another graphics card (an old nvidia 220GT wich came with the PC) and worked properly so I decided so send the card in RMA.
A couple of days ago the seller sent me an email saying that they couldn't find any issue with the 560GTX and they sent the card to Gigabyte to further testing (I wil have to wait 20-30 days to have more info). Yesterday my PC with the old card (the 220GT) began to fail while playing Skyrim with a grey screen and a strange buzz in the speakers. After 2 seconds it restarts saying that there was an system error bccode 116. Today it has crashed 4 times in 5 hours while playing (same as yesterday), "youtubbing" or (I think, but not sure than) in idle with a white screen and a strange buzz in the speakers, but not starting like with the 560GTX.
I had to change my HDD a month ago too so I tested in 2 diferent HDDs, drivers are OK and I guess that the PSU is enough for the new card and more than enough with the old one. I also ran sfc.exe /scannow witho no problems.I'm running Windows Home Premium x64 (Service Pack 1) OEM, reinstalled one or 2 months ago. I will attach minidump files with errors of both cards.
