When I attempt to open various programs (Genie Backup, Adobe X for example) I get this error message. I've had problems with the OS, and would really like to back up my files and do a clean install.
View 3 RepliesSince installing the latest Windows Update (Critical Update) I am unable to re-boot.The computer posts and gets to the windows screen and when about to load up into explorer I get the following error message in a Box. "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the applciation. The actual application is explorer.exe. Application error. If I click on OK the screen goes blank. (Black screen) Hitting CTR ALT Del gives me the options but when hitting on Start Task Manager I receive the same error this time the applciaton being Task Manager with the same error code as above. I am able to start up in Safe Mode and have tried to both use the built in Startup Repair (which is unable to fix the problem) and also have tried to go back to a previous version via System Restore without any luck. The same errors appear each time.

View 2 Replies View Relatedim currently working on an assignment for university, so the faster I can come to a fix for this the better!I restarted my pc earlier, after I noticed the audio was slightly laggy, the same sort of lag one would get if they had a very high CPU utilisation and I've experienced it in the past when doing some 3d rendering, nothing horrible, just slightly echoy almost, you wouldnt really even notice it.Upon restarting I noticed there was a lack of programs starting, my antivirus didn't seem to load, and neither did firefox, steam, irc - i thought I must have a virus, and then none of my programs that I would normally scan for malware would open - antimalwarebytes, adaware etcI did however notice that ventrilo would open and a few other selective programs, it appears that only 64bit programs are opening, I googled this and came accross a thread on these very forums, stating something about xonar soundcard drivers causing this - I do have an asus xonar d2, and it seemed to point towards this being the problem, I uninstalled the drivers, but the problem is persisting.I have already tried a system restore twice to no avail, ive had this install since about june 2010, with absolutely no problems until now, I really really don't want to reformat, but will have to soon unless I can find a solution
View 9 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a Windows Update the other day but then got an error that it didn't install correctly. Soon later my comp suddenly reboots by itself. Then when I log on I can't launch half of my programs. Things like notepad, command prompt, CCleaner, & task manager work. But things like Steam, Internet Explorer, FireFox, games, Notepad++, uninstallers, when you click them, you get the spinning circle for a couple seconds, then it goes back to the normal pointer like nothing ever happened, no processes show up in task manager.So I tried doing a system restore, but that didn't work. Then I tried the sfc /scannow technique. Then it said there were some corrupted files that couldn't be repaired. I open the CBS log and here's the errors that it had. [code] POQ 249 starts: I go to the files in question, but I can't do anything with them. When I try changing the permissions on them, I get an "access is denied" even though I'm an administrator. So now what do I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedGoing about my second install of windows 7, last time all programs running under x86 were locking up, During install everything went ok till about two hours later and its doing it again. IE x64 will run but not firefox, winamp, or even trying to play a CD, they just show up in the task manager and never pop up.
Bois & chipset are up to date, I'm running windows 7 RTM ultimate x64 on a ASUS P5N72-T Premium. No custom installs were done on windows, I've had no problems with previous versions of win 7 RC or Beta. Any suggentions on what to look at next. UAC controls are on the lowest settings, tried running programs under admin and no difference.
Starting a couple of weeks ago, (around Aug 3) I booted and noticed that a bunch of programs didn't start with Windows as they should. I'm pretty sure the only change that had happened since the previous boot was a Windows Update. Since I was in the middle of something for work, I decided to try a System Restore. That worked, so I put off researching the problem until I had more time. Then, a few days later, a new update came down that installed itself. In addition, it threw away the previous Restore Point. So, no going back, now. I limped along like that for a few days. Then, for no reason I can find, for two boots it worked perfectly. Tonight, another update, and it's back to not working. That's where I'm at now.
Running the programs manually works. No UAC warnings or anything like that.In addition to none of the programs in my Startup folder starting, when I bring up the Task Manager immediately after a boot, only about 15 processes are running. Normally, there's more than a screen-full. So, I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of other things that are not getting fired off, too.There are some things that are running. Under HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftCurrentVersionRun I see some items that are running and some that are not. Actual Multiple Monitors, GFI Backup, and Input Director are running and visible in the System Tray. AutoVer, Steam, and WallpaperChanger are not running. I just searched Autoruns for every mention of Actual Multiple Monitors and do not see anyplace else that would fire it off (it's mentioned in a context menu handler.) After a quick skim, it appears that all of the services are starting.
This system has been running under Avast. I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan. It did not find anything. I ran HijackThis and pored over the log, and recognized or searched to find everything. I ran sfc /scannow. No errors. The items do show up in msconfig, and they are checked. I downloaded Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us [...] 63902.aspx and they show there, too. I looked in Event Viewer, and nothing jumps out at me, there. I do *not* see a slew of messages telling me about things that didn't run.

Second, I've tried scouring the internet for a similar problem, but as of yet have been unable to find one.The problem I'm experiencing occurred after some hardware problems, which meant the computer was periodically crashing. I think I've now fixed these, however a software problem with windows 7 seems to be occurring.Every time I go to the start menu and load a program, not one but two instances of these programs start up. This doesn't occur with all programs I've tested, but this may be because other programs only allow one instance to run at a time. Examples of ones I've tested include Speedfan, Handbrake, Calculator. If I start the programs from within explorer, only one instance starts.
Interestingly, not sure if this is related, if I go into explorer and double click on a folder, it does not open the folder, i have to right click and then use the open option.The computer generally feels a bit slow. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar, or whether I should try a repair install (which will be a bit of hassle as I'll have to try to uninstall SP1 first).
Why are programs like internet explorer, mozilla firefox, and even Battlefield 3 hogging resources? Each of them has at least between 200,000kb to 500,000kb worth of resources even when i run it one at a time.

So anyway. Some time ago SP1 launched for Windows 7. I installed but it but something went it wrong and it didn't install correcly and then i was forced to use System restore. Everything worked and i haven't used SP1 because i don't want to risk screwing up my computer before some important things, i got plenty of time later for that . In the morning when I switched on my laptop there is no display. So I attached an external monitor. When I put the windows 7 dvd, the hp logo comes and then there is a dash ( I dont get the press any key to boot) and then I get "Setup is starting services" error. When I press Ok. When he tried to restore he said it was taking way to long and decided to just to turn off the laptop. It says that "The ASInsHelp service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. When I search on my computer for anything with "ASInsHelp" in the title it takes me to an application extension file in a folder under Asus called PC Prove II. PC probe II is a program I tried to install but was unable to due so because my mobo did not support it.
Would uninstalling Asus Suite solve this error?
A while ago i dual booted windows 7 onto my vista running laptop and it works perfectly. It is a huge improvement on vista, it is faster, better designed and its new features are very useful. Because of this success I know am trying to dual boot it onto my xp running desktop. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like it.
I have used the same technique that i did on my laptop to install it. I have burnt the iso file onto a disk and run that disk while the computer is running. Checked for online updates and done a clean install. The installation works fine and quite quickly until it comes to the first restart. It restarts and I select "windows setup" on the bios screen as apposed to "an earlier version of windows" which is my xp partition.
It then changes to the starting windows screen that happens just like on my laptop, except the windows logo never materializes and it stays as a black screen with the words "starting windows" on it. i have left the computer on overnight and no change. I have tried reinstalling several times with no luck, both using the same method as before and booting from the disk at startup. Although when I boot from the disk it just skips straight to the same frozen windows startup screen.
I have downloaded the windows 7 adviser software but the program cant seem to make its mind up. Sometimes it announces that my graphics card cant run windows 7 aero and sometimes its fine. I have checked the windows 7 specs and my graphics card appears to meet all the requirements, both dedicated memory and direct x 9 support.

Currently I am experiencing a major issue with my computer. I will start my computer up and I get a BSOD within about 10 minutes. It has happened 10 times already and I have no idea how to fix it. I have read numerous forums, tried updating graphics card drivers, hard drive drivers. I have performed disk check and run a memory test with no errors. I am not sure if it is a hardware fault or other. The BSOD also occurred while I was in safe mode with netowrking turned on. I have tried doing clean boots and even tried disabling my graphics cards, network adapters and audio drivers. I will post the dump file which is always the same every time the BSOD happens.

Every time I try to log in to my user, (which is administrator) I am met by a box containing the error in the title. I am able to use safe mode fine (which I'm using now) and have tried doing numerous scans and fixes such as SFC-Scannow, Norton Antivirus and System Restore but each one cannot find any threats. Close to the time this started happening, I turned off my laptop by the power switch instead of using the "Start" menu as it was taking ages to switch off.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo last night I went to reformat my laptop, halfway through I thought nah I don't wanna do this anymore so I clicked cancel. Now whenever I try to turn on my laptop, it just gives me the ERROR saying F3-F200-0002 and won't startup. I have tried pressing F8 on startup, but there is no option for recovery or repair in the menu, just safe mode, debugging mode etc.
I was browsing the forums and found out I should press 0 constantly while the laptop is booting and it will bring up the recovery wizard. Anyway, when I do this it says HDD recovery mode then it says Windows is loading files, then it goes to a page saying ERROR F3-FF00-0006.I have been told to download this file (Error code displays "F3-FF00-0006" on Windows 7 models) but I don't know how to make it work on my laptop that is broken (I'm on my nans computer at the moment). I have tried putting it onto a USB and slotting the USB in, but it won't work.
Just recently my computer will not start up! This is all it says "Fatal error C0190003 applying update operation 1802 of 125622 (package...)." It just stays frozen I have to hit the power button to restart. I also tried running it in save mode and it too stops responding, this is all i see

Everything else runs fine, and Autodesk products are the only things that cause any form of error. What do I do to make this no longer happen?
View 7 Replies View RelatedFS9 (Flight Simulation 2004) used to run OK, no problems. After installing REX2004 patches and Overdrive, a few seconds after starting FS9 a BSOD occurs. So far no other programs have caused a BSOD. I have tried fully uninstalling FS9 and reinstalling it and the BSOD returns after the reinstall. At present FS9 is not installed. Have now created the file folder you requested to support this thread, see attached. I can again run FS9?
