View 2 Repliesi am trying to create a restore point in my system but everytime i am getting this message: Error message was: "System Restore" did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed."Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0xc0000022)." i've even run System File Checker [SFC] and scan it but it shows that there is no integrity error. but after that while creating a restore point same error message was there. so,how should i create a restore point?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSince installing the latest Windows Update (Critical Update) I am unable to re-boot.The computer posts and gets to the windows screen and when about to load up into explorer I get the following error message in a Box. "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the applciation. The actual application is explorer.exe. Application error. If I click on OK the screen goes blank. (Black screen) Hitting CTR ALT Del gives me the options but when hitting on Start Task Manager I receive the same error this time the applciaton being Task Manager with the same error code as above. I am able to start up in Safe Mode and have tried to both use the built in Startup Repair (which is unable to fix the problem) and also have tried to go back to a previous version via System Restore without any luck. The same errors appear each time.

I don't need to use it but I would like my computer to be working since there is no reason for this not to work. I just keep getting ComPlusStaging failed to obtain original copy from %systemroot%/registration all the time.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI attempted to do a system restore as my laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-NW26M) was very slow and the internet browser was not working. No scans or diagnostics showed up any problems.Halfway through the system restore the laptop crashed and restarted. I was then confronted with the error message "Bootmgr missing, press Ctrl+alt+del" I tried to boot the laptop using a recovery disc, however I get as far as the blue welcome screen and I get the error 0x4001100200001012 - the computer then restarts.I am not bothered about any of the data - I have backed it all up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having major problems with System Restore for my HP Pavilion Windows 7 Home Premium desktop PC. Here's what happens - If I try and create a restore point I get Error 0x8004231F insufficient storage space for shadow copy. RAM is over 800 megs. There are no restore points and I cannot create any more either. I also get these errors from time to time when trying to system restore - Error 0x80073AFD and Error 0x8000FFFF Missing MUI File(s) but what MUI Files are missing or how I can find them and reinstall the damned things it does not tell me! I use Norton SS and various other security software.
One other post here suggested upgrading my Real Player which I did and although it's a nicer player and I like it better it did nothing to allow me to find my shadow copy pages or fix my restore points issue or even allow me to use system restore. I had a problem with Norton which came up with false readings under registry issues and an Error 2147212513 could not create a restore point in system restore. They did try and fix my PC and I think they screwed up system restore when they did but they of course deny it! What to do to get my system restore back up and running again and how to make it create restore points and how to do this shadow copy crap?
I restored to a Windows Restore Point. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have spent several intense days trying to figure out file sharing and networking. Yesterday I deleted all documents from the Document Library. I did not think they were literally in that location. Whatever they are all gone. I wondered if I could restore and get them back. Some of them did come back after the first restore. Then I thought I should just restore to about two weeks ago and I would undo all the changes I have been making and could start over. This is what I get.
Can not find Drive C:? I opened My Computer and looked at the Properties of Drive C: for some insight. I found a tab that said Restore previous version. I get a nice list of previous versions that I can open or copy but the restore button is not enabled. I was able to open one of the versions and copy My Documents and I got all my deleted documents back. I saved them to a different drive. What I need to do to get my restore function back on line in case I need to use it later?
I bought my HP Pavilion dm4 about a month ago and until recently, it had been working great and really fast while on the internet. Then lately, it started to load normal pages at half its speed, taking time to even load google. When playing MMOs like World of Warcraft, I was a lot laggier than i normally am, dropping framerates by 30-40 per second, even though my task manager said nothing else was running in the background. I thought something was wrong and my suspicions were correct after i found my WoW account to be hacked. I managed to recover my account and change the user/pass but my computer was still slow so i suspected that it was a virus.I uninstalled Norton Antivirus because it couldnt pick up on anything and got Sunbelt Vipre to try and solve the issue. Unfortunately, Vipre didn't pick up on anything either. I wanted to try to System Restore to remove any sort of keylogger or virus that was causing my computer to be so slow and hack my accounts. But when I tried to do the restore, picking the nearest restore point, it was stuck at "Initializing System Restore..." for nearly 3 hours. I had to hard reset the computer and try again at a different restore point, but I got the error message, "System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's systems files settings were not changed. The file or directory is corrupted and undreadable (0x80070570)." Then after clicking Run System Restore it gives me the error message "There was an unexpected error: Catastropic failure (0x8000FFFF)" I've also tried the following:-CheckDisk in safe mode, using command prompt as admin, and checkdisk at startup (this one took the longest, nearly 4 hours, and when i woke up the next morning i hadnt seen any changes)-Defrag in safe mode and normal (either way it would get stuck on 79% Analysis and then freeze), I managed to get defrag to work after a few resets and after disabling my antivirus/firewall. Still it did not make a difference and I was still unable to System Restore.-SFC using command prompt as adminPlease help as I really cannot afford to buy another computer and other than the fact that it is running at half its speed and cannot system restore, the computer is able to function normally.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that I am unable to use System Restore - each time I try to restore an older point, I get the message: "System Restore did not complete successfully, Your computer's files and settings were not changed. Details; System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anti-virus program is running on the computer . Temporally disable your antivirus program and retry System Restore. An unspecified error occurred during System Restore, (0x80070005)" The only anti-virus program I am using is Windows Security Essentials. Previously I also had Comodo Firewall (Free version) installed, but System Restore failed to work even when I disabled or uninstalled the Firewall.Previously I was using a program called Soluto to help my laptop boot up more quickly, and when I uninstalled it, I tested System Restore and it worked. I assumed that Soluto was the reason why I could not use System Restore earlier, but apparently it is not the case, as it turns out that I am still unable to use System Restore.
For some reason, this problem happens on both my Windows 7, 64-bit machines. One is a self-assembled small form factor desktop, another is an Asus UL80VT laptop. I can only assume that perhaps one of the programs that I have installed on both machines has broken System Restore, but despite many attempts, I am still unable to figure out exactly which program seems to be the problem.
The last microsoft updates that were downloaded failed to run properly and I had to roll back the machine a couple of days. When I do this I always get an error at the end saying system restore failed, it may be your anti-virus dadadada.I disable the real-time protection but no matter. I still get this error but the machine does get rolled back. I don't understand why I am getting this error when things appear to be restored to an earlier date.. ???Also, anyone else have problems with the last windows update release on Tuesday?

My friend has a fairly new Sony computer, when he turns it on it comes up with the windows 7 logo and then after that is stuck on a black screen.
I have tried pressing f8, repair your computer then system restore however I keep getting the 0x8000ffff error. I have tried a few different restore points but still the same.
Now on to the issue I have run into.
** I am currently running WIN 7 Ultimate 64 Bit RTM **
Every single time I try to use system restore, it comes back with the exact same error, on reboot:
{"System restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed. Details:
Unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0xc0000043)"}
I have tried different system restore points, (within Windows), but it does not seem to fix the issue. I have also tried disabling my security software, (KIS 2010), and that doesn't seem to help either.
The puzzling thing is that when I run system restore in safe mode it seems to work no problem, but it just will not work within windows itself, (normal boot).
When I try to use system restore I keep getting a message saying system restore failed to complete owing to error 0x80070020.

I am attempting to restore from a system image, but keep receiving a boot manager error message: Status: 0xc000000e Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible
The computer boots no problem normally, it is only when restarting to restore the system image.
I have tried to do a system restore to a point previously with another problem, but get the message 'Can't system restore, file or directory is corrupted and unreadable (0x80070570).'
This applies to all restore points available. I have tried System Repair, but that found nothing.
Shortcut Icons just show the >unknown< icon.I have tried to:
1. reboot in safe mode
2. move the shortut folder in and out
3. closed Explorer.exe and reopen it.
4. the last thing i've tried was to use the system restore as many say htat would help the problem. but when i want's to run system Restore it comes with the fatal error "0x80090067", so i cannot restore. WTF.
After switching on computer win7 x32 receive the error RPLUD is compressed. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart After switching on your computer received the error RPLUD is compressed. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart on a black screen with white writing when trying to boot into Windows. Also tried to system restore by inserting win 7 disk but its also not happening.I keep getting the following from all the restore points I try."System Restore did not complete successfully. i was unable to create a restore point(or should i say the restore point which were created were all shown up with this following error earlier, Error message was: "System Restore" did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed."Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0xc0000022).Anyways,today as i was updating my display driver, while uninstalling the old display driver and installing the latest one,my system didn't accept the driver and thus my system went out of order(more preciously,as i uninstalled the whole catalyst control centre, every icon was appearing bigger and my display adapter was also deleted). now, coming back to the problem, when i tried to go back to a restre point ,i actaually managed to get all my previous settings back but after the completion of system restore that same message was again there which saidError message was: "System Restore" did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed."Details: An unspecified error occurred during System Restore (0xc0000022).Now,i am a bit confused to what actually happened as all my settings were back and the system was there in its previous setings but then why i got that error message?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently ran a program called RegOwnit.exe on my windows registry to take ownership of the registry. But before I did that I made a backup copy of the registry by selecting Export and All from RegEdit.exe and saving a file called backup.reg. Since then I've been having issues such as no sound, I can't open "My Computer", "Control Panel", "My Documents", "Recycle Bin" When I try to I get an error message stating "there is not enough free memory to run this program."So I tried restoring the backup I made of the registry by going to Import and selecting backup.reg from there. But nothing changes in the registry at all. I just get various error messages each time I do that such as. "Cannot import C:UsersOwnerDesktopackup.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes." I've even tried doing it in Safe Mode.So my next guess I thought was to run System Restore but that hangs and never completes. The first time it ran I let it sit for 12 hours before I realized it was never going to finish. I've tried running it several more times since then, even selecting older restore points but it always hangs and I end up sitting here waiting for it to complete but it never does.I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit My computer is a HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC with 4 GB RAM and 76GB free space on Drive C. Intel Core processor. I don't have any usual configuration. It's practically new.I found someone else with the same problem on here, and one thing I was able to fix was by following the directions at the thread at

Someone said to make sure All Users has permission to access the registry: Quote: Make sure that System and Users (and just to make sure maybe Administrators and your account name too) have more or less unrestricted access to the registry hive"HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" So I added Users to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and now I can open My Computer and Control Panel etc, but I still have no sound. In fact when I try to put on an MP3 I get an error that says "Your soundcard driver does not support this type of sample format."What I'd really like to do is run system restore or be allowed to import my full backup of the registry to the point before all of this happened. What's the point of having a tool for backing up the registry and making restore points if you can't roll back to them?
Today I started getting a strange error message pop up that stated "This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." It seems to pop up at random. First couple times, I ignored it. When it persisted, I googled it, only to find most people with this error are having issues with links in outlook. I do not use outlook or IE, and wasn't doing anything browser related during any of the errors, so, lazily, I ignored it again. Finally, when one of these errors kicked me out of my Portal game, I decided I had to do something about it. I decided to just system restore before I went through any huge hassle before I tried figuring anything major out.
System restore went swimmingly, didn't seem to have any issues. But.. My keyboard and mouse, both wireless and usb, weren't working upon reboot. Okay. Different port. Nope. All of them are dead. All. Even the motherboard ones in the back. NO usb device I plug in works, or even registers. To make it weirder, I see that my wireless isn't connecting (the internet is fine) and my sound is muted. Sound was on when I started system restore. It's like all input into my machine is no longer accepted. I know the CD drive works, because inserting a CD even brought up the autoplay window, even though I can't actually input anything.
System Restore will not create a restore point or restore to a previous date & time. The error message was: A restore point could not be created: An error was detected in the Volume Shadow Copy Server (VSS).The problem occurred while trying to contact VSS writers. Verify that the Event System Sevice and the VSS service are running & check for associated errors in the event logs (0x80042318).Volume Shadow Copy is started & running (done in system events).Event System Sevice and the VSS service are started and running. But no cigar, SR still broken.
