BSOD Starting, Playing, Internet Explorer And In Idle. Error 116?
Nov 20, 2011
A couple of months ago, I bought a new graphics card: a Nvidia 560GTX (Gigabyte GV-NV56GOC) and a new PSU (Corsair CX500 V2 Builder Series, 500 W) to run it and after 3 weeks the PC began to fail with the 116 error. At the begining it crashed only at Windows 7 blue starting screen (after the loading screen with win logo and a progress bar). It happened once every 4 or 5 days. After a month it was almost imposible to run unless starting in "FailSafe Mode" and began to crash in the desktop in idle. I tested it with another drivers, clean installs, changing cabes, etc... and nothing worked, only with another graphics card (an old nvidia 220GT wich came with the PC) and worked properly so I decided so send the card in RMA.
A couple of days ago the seller sent me an email saying that they couldn't find any issue with the 560GTX and they sent the card to Gigabyte to further testing (I wil have to wait 20-30 days to have more info). Yesterday my PC with the old card (the 220GT) began to fail while playing Skyrim with a grey screen and a strange buzz in the speakers. After 2 seconds it restarts saying that there was an system error bccode 116. Today it has crashed 4 times in 5 hours while playing (same as yesterday), "youtubbing" or (I think, but not sure than) in idle with a white screen and a strange buzz in the speakers, but not starting like with the 560GTX.
I had to change my HDD a month ago too so I tested in 2 diferent HDDs, drivers are OK and I guess that the PSU is enough for the new card and more than enough with the old one. I also ran sfc.exe /scannow witho no problems.I'm running Windows Home Premium x64 (Service Pack 1) OEM, reinstalled one or 2 months ago. I will attach minidump files with errors of both cards.

I started getting BSOD two weeks ago. As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.

My computer will crash at random times when playing WoW. When it happens, my computer will kind of hang there, and everything will freeze except I can use my mouse, but about 1 min later I'll BSOD. When I BSOD, my POST hangs at a black screen before the MSI screen, where it says A2 in the bottom right corner, which changes to A3 eventually, then it loads.
When it crashes via my keyboard crashing, I'll randomly be typing (pretend the last key I hit was 'n') it will spam the 'n' button and nothing else, kind of like the drivers crashed. The only thing I can do is log out of windows and as soon as I hit log out it crashes. And the most obvious one, when I come back from work and my computer is on I'll sometimes come back to a BSOD, or a black screen that says an error has occurred. I've attached the SF diagnostic results.

the PC I built seems to BSOD about once a week. Usually it was on Mondays at any given time. Now it happened again Tuesday. The bsod flashes to quick for me to catch anything but "inpage". I also ran chkdsk and sfc. I want to assume it is the hard drive even though chkdsk showed no problems. I do have two minidumps to provide, but I can't seem to find any attachment icon to upload them.
Here are my current specs with everything at stock:
Windows 7 Professional x64
Asus P8P67 EVO B3
i5 2500K
GTX 560 Ti
640 GB WD Green w/ OS
500 GB Seagate Barracuda
2x2GB DDR3 1333Hz
650W
Lastly, I think I should not be using a Green HDD with the OS but there is a story to that. I will use a 7200RPM HDD if that is indeed the problem.

Computer is recently built running 2008 server R2. Everything seemed fine until a couple days ago when I started coming home to a BSOD. The code is always F4 (Critical Object Termination) on ntoskrnl.exe save for once when it crashed on a bios update.
Since then I have updated my bios to the latest version, removed a troublesome NIC card (not yet replaced), and tried unsuccessfully to find a pattern to the problem.
sfc /scannow comes back clean. There is no overclocking. Hard drive load does not seem to be a factor. Hard drive scans have come back clean. Disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection with no effect. Malwarebytes reports clean. Not sure what else to do now. I've seen it run for 10 minutes and crash. I've also seen it run for 24+ hours before it crashes again.
Left the system running using Driver Verifier for a while (3+ hours) with no issues.

New to the forums and really hoping someone could help. I have been having multiple BSOD over the past few weeks at random points, sometimes under load while playing games other times just when the machine is idle or simply logging into windows..I am running 16GB of Corsair Vengeance ram (2x8GB kits, so 4x4gb sticks in total) I have run memtest overnight with all chips in, just the one set (tested both sets) and also each chip individually with no errors. I have also swapped the chips into different slots and still getting BSOD.I have checked the BIOS and all memory config and voltages are as per spec. I have also monitored my voltages from PSU and those are within the acceptable ranges. Temps have been good aswell with CPU idel at aroun 30 with a max of 65 (Core i7 2500K) GPU's are running between 30 - 80 degree's (GTX 580's in SLI)I have also tried updating drivers but still cant shake these nasty BSOD's

My PC is brand new (build it up in August) but I keep getting BSOD almost every time. I've updated my graphics card drivers because I thought it would help but it didn't.
I get the BSOD totally randomly. It doesn't matter if I play games or just surf in the internet.
Is Windows 7 . .
.
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Windows XP
- an OEM or full retail version? Full retail
- What is the age of system (hardware)? Everything was bought in August expect my mouse and keyboard were bought last year. My normal hard drive may be several years old. I don't know for sure.
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) OS was installed in August. I have re-installed my old XP many times when I still had it.

My friend has a virus on his laptop, which deleted his winnet.dll files. After trying everything he could he decided to do a restore. When he tried to restore he said it was taking way to long and decided to just to turn off the laptop. Leading to more problems, now every time he tries to boot the laptop it shows the loading files followed by the Windows loading screen. After that it shows a blank screen with the mouse. Anyway to fix this.I tried booting from safe mode but that didn't work, it would just crash with a BSOD

I have been having random crashes / restarts on my computer for the entire duration that I have had my windows 7 installed, before this I used windows xp which was on the same hard drive. I thought I managed to fix the issue but it happened again today and once yesterday as well.
What happens:
-Playing random game or browsing internet
-crash for no reason (Doesn't always BSOD)
-computer restarts says windows did not shut down cleanly etc..
-start up what I was doing again
-no crash
Search and Destroy along with Malwarebytes says that I am clean along with my AVG My dump settings are properly configured to produce dump files, although when this happens I do not see one being produced
My Windows 7 computer:
- x64 bit
- not the original OS
- retail version
- What is the age of system (hardware)? - 3/4 years at most
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 1/2 years
EDIT: I was looking through some other threads and managed to actually get some dump files and I reattached the information

Every time I start up Autodesk 3ds Max 2013, I get a BSOD shortly after it begins initializing with the error of PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. Everything else runs fine, and Autodesk products are the only things that cause any form of error. What do I do to make this no longer happen?

Currently I am experiencing a major issue with my computer. I will start my computer up and I get a BSOD within about 10 minutes. It has happened 10 times already and I have no idea how to fix it. I have read numerous forums, tried updating graphics card drivers, hard drive drivers. I have performed disk check and run a memory test with no errors. I am not sure if it is a hardware fault or other. The BSOD also occurred while I was in safe mode with netowrking turned on. I have tried doing clean boots and even tried disabling my graphics cards, network adapters and audio drivers. I will post the dump file which is always the same every time the BSOD happens.
Dump File : 042212-9937-01.dmp
Crash Time : 22/04/2012 4:13:52 PM

FS9 (Flight Simulation 2004) used to run OK, no problems. After installing REX2004 patches and Overdrive, a few seconds after starting FS9 a BSOD occurs. So far no other programs have caused a BSOD. I have tried fully uninstalling FS9 and reinstalling it and the BSOD returns after the reinstall. At present FS9 is not installed. Have now created the file folder you requested to support this thread, see attached. I can again run FS9?

first of all i'm not completely sure that it's actually IE that makes the computer go BSOD, since the picture i so blurry that you cant really make anything else out than the colours... but today it has "died" twice, both times while surfing the internet respectively on wikipedia and facebook.
Of course it could also just be laptop giving up, since it is after all almost 3 years old. i don't know if it's of any use for you, but it's a HP Pavillion dv5113eu with the following specs ( completely standard): AMD Mobile Sempron 3000+, 1 GB RAM, ATi Radeon Xpress 200M (128 MB dedicated) and a 60 GB HDD
the installation is completely clean, except that i've installed Office '07 Enterprise, Winamp, Avast and Windows Live Messenger.
[UPDATE!]
I've Found out that the reason for the blackouts appears to be over-heating. even though i still have no idea as to why the BSOD looks strange. will upload pic soon.

I've included as much information that I can think of about this problem. I've been getting random blue screens for months now at idle and while starting up. I saw a post about using Avast, which I was and have removed, and started using MSE.When I removed it, my computer ran about 6 days straight with no problems so I thought maybe that fixed it. However, I had a BSOD this morning when I got up and have had about 3 more in just the last hour.I do need to say that when I got this motherboard the IDE did not work. I didn't think much of it since I wasn't going to be using it. I know, I should have sent it back so that was my mistake. The OS is about 6 months old and the rest of the hardware, except for the video card, is about 1 1/2 years old. The VC is around 10 months old. I've also tried updating and rolling back drivers without success.

Whenever I play a game for longer than 10 minutes, this happens. Affected games: trackamania nations, trackmania united, CoD4, MW2, BO, Oblivion, .. Most games. Stepmania doesn't seem to have the problem, so I think it may be OpenGL/DirectX related. This sound is also paired with severe FPS problems. After a few more minutes of play, I the BSOD; [URL]One odd thing is that when I launch a game (for example CoD4, which boots quickly, because other games need to boot steam first :s) right after startup, and leave it running for say 10 minutes, the problem will not exist for the entire session, until I reboot.Natively, I had Vista, after a month orso the problem started occuring. Then I clean installed Windows 7 Home Premium, the problem didn't exist at first. After a month, same problem. Then I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate, which gave the same story.I'm confident that the problem is with an auto-update of something, I deliberately didn't instal any drivers manually.

GPU: NVIDIA 285 GTX
RAM: 6 Gb DDR3
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Windows information:
- 64 bit.
- Not the original OS. At first this had Windows Vista Home Premium Dutch 64 bit, then Windows 7 Home Premium Dutch 64 bit as an upgrade I got cheaply from my ACER, and finally out of misery I got Windows 7 Ultimate English 64 bit.
- Full retail.
- I got my system just over 2 years ago.
- My current OS is about half a year old I estimate. The problem recurred over all OS's.

My gaming laptop has always had BSOD problems ever since purchase. It occurs sporadically, sometimes once a month to once every day for a week. It occurs mostly while playing video games, but has sometimes happened randomly while internet browsing. I created a thread on these forums 2 weeks ago for a BSOD problem. Here is the link: [URL] I followed all the instructions that i was given, and everything was fine until a couple days ago, where i had another BSOD. I have had 3 BSOD so far, on the 6th, 7th, and 9th of December. Here are my computer specs:
-Asus G60JX
-Windows 7 - x64
-Nvidia Geforce GTS 360M
-OEM
-1 1/2 years old.

everytime I play Battlefield 3 I get in max. 30 minutes a BSOD. And it ONLY happens with this game, everything else works perfectly fine without crashes or whatsoever. This has been going on since half December, which is about a week after I updated my drivers. It first happened once or twice, where I though that it was just coincidence, but now it happens every time I try to play Battlefield 3.Since it happened a bit after updating the drivers, I thought it was that. Today most of the drivers needed to be updated again, including the infamous Realtek sound drivers that are supposed to give problems with Battlefield 3, so I updated them hoping it would solve the problem. No dice, I still get a BSOD when playing Battlefield 3.Dump files are in the attachment. I didn't include the perfmon HTML file since it refuses to generate a report, even when the Performance Logs & Alert service is set on manual.

Recently started playing Mass Effect 2 it was working fine for the first 30 mins. But when he wakes up and picks up his weapon the screen turns off and its becomes unresponsive and the speakers produce a high pitched sound and sometimes the GPU fan sound like it going at 100%. This also happens when I play GTA 4 and sometimes it happens when playing Skyrim.
