I have just gotten a new and very powerful computer for Christmas, but the disk drive doesn't appear on the My Computer menu. I have checked the bios, and it is there, but Windows 7 doesn't seem to find it. I have Windows 7 64 bit and a Gigabyte 870A-UD3 motherboard.
just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management. System Specs: Antec Nine Hundred ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO
[Code].....
However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.
I don't know what is my problem because is not the first time that usb external hard drive is working fine until get damage and said " it need to be formatted " and lost all the INFO because I have to format again the disk to be usefull. Also it is not the same hard disk.
I would like to connect my 2.5" external USB hard drive permanently to store my files. However, it seems like my USB hard disk doesn't show up every time I reboot my windows 7. I will need to unplug the usb and then replug it back it for it to be detected, which is a bit of a hassle.
My data hard drive is seen in disk management but does not show in windows explorer.I am using windows seven 64 bits.In disk management the drive shows: Layout: simple, type: basic, file system: NTFS, status: healthy(system-active-primary partition) How can I retrieve my data?
After searching the entirety of the internet I have come here to try to resolve my problem. I have a Seagate barracuda 1.5tb 3.5" 7200rpm hard drive which i was previously using to run windows server 2008. I am now trying to use it as an external hard drive for my laptop, however the laptop does not seem to recognize it. I tried using two different cases, three different usb ports, and i confirmed that everything was properly plugged in and powered on. The hard drive does not appear in disk manager, my computer, or the BIOS.
my windows does not show contents of my hard disk but linux mint do.i doubt if there is any presence of virus and i deleted all .ini files.(unwanted files).and it does not contain any softwares or any executable files. it contain only media, and pdf files.
I have five Sata drives. Of these five, Windows 7 Pro 64 "Computer management" reports that two of them still are 100% free despite both having significant usage as reported in "Computer" and "Explorer"
My external hard disk up until a few weeks ago had been working perfectly. The next time I used it - windows 7 will not recognise it. I have tried different USB ports and computers. But it doesn't seem to work. It doesn't show up in device manager or disk manager. Its like nothing is plugged in. I tried switching hard disk cases and power supplies. But still nothing. The hard disk seems to try and run every so often, the light flashed red and it makes whirring noises as if it was connecting to the computer.
I dont know what else to do ? And it has almos 1500 GB of data.
I have a WD Green drive which parks its heads after 8 seconds of inactivity. This is measured by "load/unload cycle count" in SMART, and WD rates the drive for 300,000 cycles. I have accumulated over 15,000 in the span of a few days, which obviously isn't good for drive longevity. I don't have a way to run the tool provided by WD to alter the timeout for the heads, so I need to figure out what is causing this frequent disk access. Prior to whenever this started (I'm assuming it was a few days ago, when I installed a new motherboard) I was averaging 0-10 load/unload cycles per day, depending on how often I accessed the drive.I checked activity with Resource Monitor and found nothing accessing the drive except for the very occasional access of BCD.log and the MFT. However, I'm seeing ~3-6 load/unload cycles per minute, so something is accessing the drive every 8-20 seconds.
I tried using procmon. I set it to filter only for activity on E: (the drive in question) and I unchecked all the default "exclude" filters; I saw nothing besides procmon accessing the drive. I ran it for a good 5 minutes. The drive is connected to an Intel Z68 SATA II controller. I have no other drives which park their heads so I don't know if this activity occurs on all my drives or not. Again, nothing shows in procmon or Resource monitor. What can I do to see what's accessing the drive?Tried so far:Disabling SuperfetchDisabling AV Disabling Indexing
I have two 250gb drives that are connected to my one Eide connection on my Asus P5Q deluxe Mobo. They show in the bios and on startup, but not in my computer or drive manager? How can I get them to show up so I can format and use them as extra space.
i have brand a new Gateway NV50A with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I tried to partition the C Drive with 450GB to make another partition using Spotmau 2009. It displayed a window --that the system needs to restart for partioning. So I clicked on yes. After that it tried to restart and just stops on a blank Spotmau screen doing nothing(Spotmau Powersuite 2009 --Is a computer software used for partitioning and cloning). I tried to restart and bypass this window and start windows. But it doesn't work. I don't want to lose any data. I don't have a Windows 7 Installation CD.
As you may see I am connected to the internet but I cannot see the signal bars on the taskbar.my laptop information:Toshiba Satelite M645 S4070Windows 7 Home Premium. 64-bitI also cannot do a system restore of the check disk error i am seeing.below is an image of the results:[CODE]
I have a pen drive having 4gb of data. After I plugged in that pen drive in one PC the datas are not showing. Kindly advice how can I recover the data. I also try to see hidden folders option but after that it also not showing. In properties it is showing 4gb of data in use.
I just installed windows 7 on a home built desktop. Everything seems to be running fine except my 3rd hard drive won't show up. In device manager it shows all 3 hard drives, but in My Computer it only shows 2.
The hard drive that isn't showing up in My Computer (but showing up in Device Manager), is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB.
The hard drives that are showing up are both Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 but one is a 500 GB the other is a 750 GB.
ok i have a western digital my passport external hard drive. its Mosley contains games and all of my music and a video. ive haven't even had it for a year and it is not showing up on my pc. i did what other forms that i looked at "going through the computer management and changing the later it doesn't work". but when i did it, it took like ten minutes to load up usually when it is in sleep mode. plus when it is loading i went into my pc and the window is not responding i tried to end it. so i unplugged the usb and everything worked again. it works on other pc's but mine. some of my friends said it could be a virus or a Trojan. i dont know what to do to fix this im thinking of getting a new hard drive but i want to make sure i can fix this before i spend $60-$70 on a new one.
Evening, like title says my harddrive wont show up when I'm installing windows 7. I followed the instructions up to the select a harddrive/partition but it wont show and says that I need an installation media for it to be read.
I assume this would be where I need a RAID file from my usb but where would I be able to find/download one from?
Laptop in question is a Satelite L555-S7916 3 gb RAM has a 500gb WD Scorpio Blue
Is there anything in particular I need to know or should put down to hep? I'm at a total lost and dont want to do anything dangerous to my laptop.
This is the first time am posting in this forum. Internet is working fine in my machine in wired modem as well as wireless wi-fi modem. But whenever i try to connect an USB modem data card for internet, it gets installed for mass storage alone and nothing gets installed for internet. And yes, the USB port works GOOD for all pen drives. This problem occurs only when i connect an USB data card and the following error message pops up. It doesnot buzz off till i remove the USB from the machinethere is no disk in the drive. please insert a disk into drivedevicehardrive2dr2..
When I turn on/restart the computer, the desktop itself has two hard drives in it (250GB and 1TB, 1TB is not the one the OS is on)
When I put the computer to sleep, and then wake it up, the 1TB is not active, and to access it I have to completely restart the computer. I'm using a legitimate retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate, if that helps any?
I have 3 partition C, D, n E. After i install win 7 ultimate 32 bit in C, my local drive D: don;t show in windows explorer. All i can see just C: and my E: but write as Local Disk D:
