HDDs Show In BIOS, But Do Not Show In Disk Management
Oct 14, 2011just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management.
System Specs:
Antec Nine Hundred
ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO
[Code].....
However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.

Dec 19, 2011This weekend a installed the windows 7 64bit over a vista 32bit. During the installation I left my Samsung S2 HD 500gb plugged in.After the installation the windows didn't find a mass storage controller drive and my HD appeared as Local Drive ( F: ). When I try to access it, this msg comes up: you need to format the disk in drive f before you can use it. I tried plugging in all usb port I could find. And even the win xp 32bit showed the same msg. I also tried the "Easy Recovery Pro". But it didn't worked. When a click on any of the recovery option the software doesnot find any hard drive in my pc. Then I tried the "GetDataBack for NTFS". After 24 hours of scanning, it didn't find any of my files. Tonight, I will try the "diskdigger" and the "Recuva". But I am not putting too much faith on those software due some post I read here. I really need to recover same work data.

I can't format it, no matter what I try, e.g. formatting it using different formats, formatting it using Computer Management, formatting it in safe mode. None of these things seem to work for me, and I have no idea why. There's also something else to it: before it became unusable and not format-able, it was somewhere around 4GB, and now, when I want to format it, it gives only the option to format it using the capacity of 12.5MB, which doesn't work anyway. I've tried looking at unpartioned spaces in it, but there aren't any, so I completely have no idea how to go through this problem.

I have a Seagate barracuda 1.5tb 3.5" 7200rpm hard drive which i was previously using to run windows server 2008. I am now trying to use it as an external hard drive for my laptop, however the laptop does not seem to recognize it. I tried using two different cases, three different usb ports, and i confirmed that everything was properly plugged in and powered on. Aug 8, 2012I have bought a new laptop (DOS installed) and trying to install windows7 After i installed windows 7, i can see only 30 gb drive in "My computer" (500 gb hard disk) When iam trying to create new volume in disk management on unallocated space iam getting a prompt that "this action will convert the disk to dynamic disk" when i proceeded with clicking ok i get an error message saying "Not enough space on the disk to perform the operation" Even in the windows installation screen iam unable to select the unallocated space and format. I can see the options "format", "delete" disabled for the partitions I can see the options enabled for only few partitions. This is a brand new laptop with DOS installed and iam installing the windows for first time.how can i partition the hard disk and format?
