Can I format a Hard Drive with Windows 7 using a 2000 format disk. If so, what are the prompts i see and action on boot-up before I use the format C. Done it before but just forgot
I'd seen many USB card readers advertised, and I ordered the SanDisk MicroMate (a SDHC device), thinking I could connect this to my android tablet and quickly have additional (using a new 8GB SDHC card) storage for reading and writing. When the connection was made, however, the message was "Blank USB storage; USB storage blank or has unsupported format" I offer this to indicate that the reader does seem operational. The card couldn't be accessed using the tab's file managers. In an attempt to figure out the problem, I tried using it on my two Windows PCs (both Win 7-64b computers, a desktop and a laptop) and found what are to me confusing results:
1. If I insert the new 8 GB SDHC card into the internal card reader of either of my computers, it is immediately accessible. I was able to copy a file to it. Format is FAT32. 2. If I connect the reader to a powered USB port on either computer, the reader device is shown with no errors in Device Manager, but when the card is inserted into the reader, the error "the drive must be formatted" appears.
When I try to access drive D it says this "you need to format the disk in drive d before you can use it". I don't even know whats in Drive D, my computer is new. But when I right click properties for used space it says 0 bytes and free space 0 bytes. But it still says its full. [URL]. After I press cancel [URL]. Drive Space [URL]. What should I do?
Every 5 minutes or so , a pop up saying "You need to format the disk in drive g before you can use it" comes up. Problem is, I have no disk in drive g, and nothing connected to my usb ports. So i have no idea what this means. Add to this that the device manager keeps refreshing and will not let me click anything.
I am using win 7 ( Home premium ).My ram is 2GB .I use my PC alot with some heavy programs .So my system is slow down. I want to use Win XP .But Win 7 cant install win XP .I have read some internet page. They said I must format my system disk to install win XP .I dont know how to format this.
I am getting this popup: "You need to format the disk in drive x before you can use it". In my case it's drive H:. I have unchecked "Use AutoPlay for all media and devices" in the Control Panel. I did this a week ago when I started getting these popups and it seemed to work till today when it all started up again. I just noticed that the popup is not appearing, but the drive is appearing and disappearing from my file manager (I use Q-dir).
I just bought an Samsung G2 External HDD month ago. It worked well since the date I bought it. But yesterday, when I'm trying to plug in my external, windows give me some error message :
"You need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it"
I dont want to format my external, because I had many important files in my external. If I had to format, how can I recover my files in the external ?
This weekend a installed the windows 7 64bit over a vista 32bit. During the installation I left my Samsung S2 HD 500gb plugged in.After the installation the windows didn't find a mass storage controller drive and my HD appeared as Local Drive ( F: ). When I try to access it, this msg comes up: you need to format the disk in drive f before you can use it. I tried plugging in all usb port I could find. And even the win xp 32bit showed the same msg. I also tried the "Easy Recovery Pro". But it didn't worked. When a click on any of the recovery option the software doesnot find any hard drive in my pc. Then I tried the "GetDataBack for NTFS". After 24 hours of scanning, it didn't find any of my files. Tonight, I will try the "diskdigger" and the "Recuva". But I am not putting too much faith on those software due some post I read here. I really need to recover same work data.
SO, problem is: I got this USB, it worked very well 'til some days ago. I can't format it, no matter what I try, e.g. formatting it using different formats, formatting it using Computer Management, formatting it in safe mode. None of these things seem to work for me, and I have no idea why. There's also something else to it: before it became unusable and not format-able, it was somewhere around 4GB, and now, when I want to format it, it gives only the option to format it using the capacity of 12.5MB, which doesn't work anyway. I've tried looking at unpartioned spaces in it, but there aren't any, so I completely have no idea how to go through this problem.
looking for a free version of something like this Memory Card Recovery Software to Recover Lost Photos - CardRecovery that will allow me to recover a bunch of HD video clips that were mistakenly erased
A program I have installed (Dead Rising 2: Off The Record) Fails to start, unless my speaker format is set to 24 bit, 48000 Hz Mode. My speaker format is normally 24 bit 192000 Hz Mode. I want to be able to make it automatically change to-and-from automatically, as the program is launched.

I am trying to format a 320 GB disk drive as single storage that was once used on a motherboard as a Raid 0 array. I can format the disk drive as NTFS via a USB cable, but when I try and connect the drive internally on the motherboard, the computer does not see it. When I go to disk managment to try and initialize hhe drive, it list the drive as a array and gives me an error. I have tried this a couple times and am at a loss as to hoe to get rid of the "Array" name disk managment says it is.

i recently bought a new hard drive to put my os on, and i stupidly changed my old hard drive type from basic to dymainic, and its not letting me reformat it or convert it back to basic. When i try it says "Windows cannot format the system volume on this disk."
I recently backed up about 500gb of recent work onto an external drive so I could clean my PC inside and out. I gave it a clean install of windows 7 and when it comes time to get my work of my external, the drive cannot be recognized and requires a reformat. It was working perfectly fine and I surely did not format the drive into a RAW file system. I tried plugging into my laptop running win8 and still the very same issue. I plugged it into a mac running the lastest mac os 10 and I can browse all my folders and see the files but I can't move/copy or open them. But at least I know all is not lost.
