Feb 18, 2013I'm obviously brand new to the forums so I hope this is the right place for this. I should start with my type of drive; I have a 120gb Cherryville SSD from Intel serving as my C: Drive. Just the other night I had approximately 43GB left in my C: Drive (note this is incredibly low as well, but I was content). Last night I checked again and saw that I was down to 25! I performed a disk defrag and that actually decreased my storage to 23! I am absolutely puzzled as to the cause of this.
The only thing I have done between the time that I had over 40 and last night was update my visual BIOS (having nothing to do with my C: Drive at all) and download a simple XML update for Microsoft Expressions (which was measured in kilobytes). Granted I have done my fair share of updating .net framework and various other updates, but all of my major programs are on my hard drive, not my SSD. To put this into visual perspective, I'd like to share a photo showing around 25GB of space taken that is absolutely nowhere to be found, I find it hard to believe that Windows and a few programs can take up nearly 90GB of storage.
Installer Cannot Create Directory - Insufficient Storage Space
Mar 20, 2012I have problems with Installer. I have tried all of the Fix-its etc on Microsoft sites but it still remains. It installs up to a point then tells me that it cannot create a directory.
C:Program DataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms *****.
I have tried the Fixits, no good. I have tried to install Windows Updater 4.5 but it tells me that there is insufficient storage space. I have 435 GB of free space on my HD.
Adding Unallocated Space To Primary Storage Partition
Jan 15, 2013Previously my machine was dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu. It worked fine with no problems until I decided that I didn't use nor want Ubuntu on my machine. Disk space was getting low for my primary partition and I decided it was time to let Ubuntu go. Anyhow long story short I cleared the two partitions that Ubuntu was using through the 'disk management' tool in windows. I didn't think at the time that GRUB would be stored within these partitions and that lead to the problem of being unable to boot anything.
I made and used a repair disc via another machine and then restored the bootsector code with it. That fixed the problem of being unable to boot. Now my problem is that I'm left with around 3-4 GB of wasted space in a partition. I was wondering if this 3-4 GB could be added to my primary storage partition? I've looked everywhere in the disk manager but I can't find anything there. I'm unsure as to if there is some 3rd party software available that could fix this? That 70GB partition shall remain undisclosed.
Windows 7 64bit Image Backup - Not Enough Space On Storage Location
Mar 12, 2011I have just currently installed 1 x 2 TB HDD. Installed Windows 7 64 bit on one. After installing all my basic applications I then decided to create a backup on my spare 1TB allocating 50 gig for the image. The image itself is only 35gig but when I click on create image it runs for a little while then displays the following message:
"There is not enough disk space to create the volume shadow copy on storage location. Make sure that for all volume to be backup up, the minimum disk space required for shadow copy creation is available. this applies to both the backup storage destination and volume included in the backup. Minimum requirement for Volumes less than 500 megabytes, the minimum is 50 megabyte of free space. For volumes more than 500 megabytes, the minimum is 320 megabytes of free space. Recommended at least 1 gigabytes free of disk space on each volumes if volumes size is more than 1 gigabytes (0x80780119)". It seem like the OS does not recognise 1TB hdd

I am on an absolutely pathetic internet connection of 20gb a month (Internet in New Zealand was monopolised by Telecom, and the industry went nowhere for years, our speeds are stupid and the prices would be considered unacceptable in many countries). Me and a friend do a lot of data sharing, and he also hosts a minecraft server, which uses a lot of internet. Luckily for me, he moved in 4 houses down from me. Our solution was going to be for me to connect to his wifi connection from my house, and just to be safe, from his end I would be restricted to his Lan network, but not internet data :P.However after fruitless attempts to make a home made yagi antenna from everything from a fly cover for a large dish to a kitchen wok, nothing worked and we ran short of ideas. If I remember right, this is just putting the driver in /sys/drivers, running a script, and making a registry change. Then you reboot, change the motherboard setting, and then install IMSM after the OS comes back up. I don't remember the script, or if it was just a reg edit, etc.

Aug 17, 2011Last night I noticed it had turned the bar to red, and said I had only 12 GB left of 135 GB. Im not into video, music, games or anything else I know of that would use that much space. I surf the web, and keep some scanned and some text documents. A few months ago I carefully installed Windows 7, instead of Vista which my PC came with. No problems. I just now deleted the old Windows stuff, and that freed up 47 GB, so thats good. I suspect that my hard drive was partitioned during that installation of Windows 7, and I dont know that that is necessary. Can that be undone?
