Basically i have an early 2006 iMac (Core Duo T2400) That I have wiped Macintosh from and installed Windows 7. However, I forgot to disable the startup chime before doing so. This is done in the Mac OS easily, but that doesn't work in Windows. I tried booting the installation disk and muting from there, but that doesn't work.
View 7 RepliesI have a program called mscorsvw.exe that always runs at startup and it runs about 4 ngen.exe files along with it. This really lags my startup time to about another 5-10 seconds. Anyway to disable it or why this is happening?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently have only 1 user on my system which is myself & it does not have a password, until recently it booted to desktop without any problems & then out of the blue, which I think after a bunch of windows updates I am now presented with the user select screen which I have to click to load into the desktop. How can I disable this as I have looked at the user controls & everything else I could remember to check & every time I reboot or boot up it goes to the user login screen which I only need to click because I don't use a password.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy PC, EVERY time I cold boot, I get a blue screen on or before the Starting Windows screen. I have taken a wild guess that this is my video card or my mainboard because I remember seeing an "nv" in one of the errors a long time ago and I have dual 9600 vid cards and an NForce mainboard. This has happened since the PC was brand new, running Vista 64, but I never cared because after letting the box literally warm up, I can boot and reboot fine and everything. I am totally OK with this problem even though I have tried to fix it unsuccessfully without putting too much effort into it because I don't want to work on this all day ever as long as I can boot. It's cool. That has very little to do with my question though, but I am just presenting it as the cause, but I require any suggestions on fixing it the bluescreen. Its part of my life now, and I would probably feel weird without it at this point.
The actual problem is that i usually turn the PC on, walk away, come back in a few min to a bluescreen and then reboot, walk away again adn and Vista would come right up and be ready when I got back. Windows 7, after a failed boot, will kindly and with the best intentions assume that i want to fix that problem and will select Windows Startup Repair as the default boot option. I need to physically wait for this prompt and pick Start Normally. If I don't my PC is yelling at me for trying to cancel Windows Startup Repair because I know it can't find the solution to my problem, nor do I require it to fix that problem. I often forget to wait for this prompt and it slows down my normal workflow and cuts into my routine.
How can I select Start Normally as the default option after a failed boot? If I need to run Startup Repair, i will most likely make myself available to select it from the prompt. I don't see anything in Startup options and haven't had to manually configure a boot option via text file since Windows 98 so I'm not even 100% sure where to begin where to look.
I just bought a New Asus x54c notebook, There are some problems i m encountering 1st: my synaptics pointing device driver is automatically disabled at startup .I have to manually start it from Devices and Printers<Mouse Settings. After that it completely works fine. When i bought the laptop it was working fine ,maybe CCleaner did something , i double checked the startup items, its enabled. I checked at MSCONFIG too ..enabled. Cant find anyhting wat to do.

I bought this machine a few years ago, and since then I have come to use Windows7 and like it alot. OSX Lion is coming out this spring, but I am not interested in upgrading to it. I have been moving back toward Windows based computing for awhile now. Some friends of mine who are Mac fans, think I have lost my mind, but I am thinking that Windows7 and Windows8 should run really well. I know most of it will be useless but I need my budget spreadsheet and want my photos, and stuff like that. Trouble is when I connect it to my new pc, Gateway One, is shows up in Devices and Printers but not as a clickable drive in My Computer. It's been tried on several other computers and laptops, all running windows 7, with the same result. Could this be because it was used on a mac? I thought it would at lest show up, then I could get off it what was usable. The paperwork that came with the drive says it's good on either pc or mac. Or could it be too old for windows 7? I did go to their web site and download drivers, didn't help. By the way, my son tried it on his works laptop, running xp. He's not allowed to install anything so he couldn't let the windows drivers run. We thought maybe it still might show up in My Computer, but it didn't.

My question is if I'm able to update my graphics card in an iMac for preferably an Nvidia graphics card as I hear they are the best the market can offer.
I know that iMacs aren't like typical PCs where you can just unscrew the back panel and replace the graphics card but I'm just curious if anyone has an answer to this as I would like to update my graphics card in the future.
Current state: I have a Dell with Vista HP 64 that hangs alot Near Future State: I fought this problem on my Dell PC / Windows Vista for sometime now and I'm fed up. I'm going to get a iMac and use boot camp to have both Mac OS (Snow Leopard) and Windows 7. Best of both worlds on superior hardware (my and other's opinion, not my point though).Here's my question: I think I'm going to buy Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit full installation (not upgrade) and use that to "upgrade" my Dell with Vista. Then when I get the iMac, I will use that same product to do a new installation of Windows 7 on the iMac (and decommission the Dell).Is this the right approach? I don't think Windows 7 upgrade will work for the iMac part of the plan. Is this true? Will I be able to "move" Windows 7 full install from Dell to iMac?

View 9 Replies View Relatedi used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?
My hp dv3t has been giving a message about checking a disk for consistency every time I reboot(ed) for about a week now, but today it froze after the countdown reaches zero (for bypassing the procedure)�nothing I do can get it past this step. What do I do? I tried booting from Safe Mode, it listed a bunch of drivers but then froze.I'm using W7 64-bit Home Premium.

Clicking on the Administrator gives me a desktop with an on-screen keyboard; the computer keyboard disabled, and a panel saying,"FAILED, The application has failed to start." Going back and clicking on the Standard User icon gets me running for the most part. Here's the BIG problem. Every time I try to install any program, the User Account Control box drops down and asks for the Administrator Password, plus the question,"Do you want to allow the following programs to make changes to your computer?" You click "Yes", but, since no one is in the Administrator office, your installation comes to a halt. This blocks "Install" and "Uninstall". I get lots of messages I need Adobe Flash Player. I've trie over and again to install it, going to Windows 32 bit, but can't uninstall my previous tries. It will always download, and that's all. I've tried to install my digital camera's CD, but can't.
the Startup screen. So I went to the Startup repair tool as was recommended, but after few tries nothing has changed. So I tried to recover to previous recovery point, but also nothing. Then I tried booting to Safe mode, and I saw that during the loading process there was no file shown as succesfully loaded. I have CPU-Z, Hardware Monitor Pro and Resource Monitor shortcuts in the startup folder.
If I go to MSCONFIG I can see that the items are there to be started during startup.
What am I doing wrong that will not allow these programs to start up?
I hate it when this happens and so far, the startup repair has always been able to fix the problem. Today, I'm not so lucky.
I'm using my other built right now coz I have to work. I don't remember what updates I did last night but I do remember the dvd drive firmware was updated.I popped in the system restore disc, start it up and the same page appears: Start with windows start up or Start windows normally. Tried both and neither one of them would bring up system restore. This built was only a month old and was hardly used so far so no system restore point was created at this point. I have files in it that I would like to keep but I can't get to them right now so a clean fresh install is needed but I can't get it up.
