Whenever I type ipconfig, the black box just flashes. I have seen it do this as well with other inputs, why is this? How can I fix it? I'd like to be able to access this! My pc (windows 7 ultimate) cannot see my Imac, but my imac can see and access the pc? I have sharing on in the mac, what else could I be doing wrong?
I been toying with the Idea of wiping my aluminum iMac and installing Windows7 as its only OS. It is a 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, so it is not one of the newest. I bought this machine a few years ago, and since then I have come to use Windows7 and like it alot. OSX Lion is coming out this spring, but I am not interested in upgrading to it. I have been moving back toward Windows based computing for awhile now. Some friends of mine who are Mac fans, think I have lost my mind, but I am thinking that Windows7 and Windows8 should run really well. Anybody heard of other people installing Windows on a mac as its only OS. I know it runs very well on my Lenovo Laptop.
How to use an iMac as a wirless router with WPA2? I would like to share my broadband Internet connection that is provided by RJ-45 wired connection to my iMac. I have a Windows 7 laptop that I would like to use and have it connect to my iMac wirelessly. I have figured out how to share the iMac's airport connection but unfortunately the Mac OS X 10 software only supports WEP.
I have just moved back from mac to pc. I have a 4 year old LaCie External drive that has everything backed up from my mac. I know most of it will be useless but I need my budget spreadsheet and want my photos, and stuff like that. Trouble is when I connect it to my new pc, Gateway One, is shows up in Devices and Printers but not as a clickable drive in My Computer. It's been tried on several other computers and laptops, all running windows 7, with the same result. Could this be because it was used on a mac? I thought it would at lest show up, then I could get off it what was usable. The paperwork that came with the drive says it's good on either pc or mac. Or could it be too old for windows 7? I did go to their web site and download drivers, didn't help. By the way, my son tried it on his works laptop, running xp. He's not allowed to install anything so he couldn't let the windows drivers run. We thought maybe it still might show up in My Computer, but it didn't.
Basically i have an early 2006 iMac (Core Duo T2400) That I have wiped Macintosh from and installed Windows 7. However, I forgot to disable the startup chime before doing so. This is done in the Mac OS easily, but that doesn't work in Windows. I tried booting the installation disk and muting from there, but that doesn't work.
I love iMacs but I'm also a big gamer, so to circumvent this problem I partitioned my computer to allow in a Windows 7 32-bit so I could play PC games.
My question is if I'm able to update my graphics card in an iMac for preferably an Nvidia graphics card as I hear they are the best the market can offer.
I know that iMacs aren't like typical PCs where you can just unscrew the back panel and replace the graphics card but I'm just curious if anyone has an answer to this as I would like to update my graphics card in the future.
Current state: I have a Dell with Vista HP 64 that hangs alot Near Future State: I fought this problem on my Dell PC / Windows Vista for sometime now and I'm fed up. I'm going to get a iMac and use boot camp to have both Mac OS (Snow Leopard) and Windows 7. Best of both worlds on superior hardware (my and other's opinion, not my point though). Here's my question: I think I'm going to buy Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit full installation (not upgrade) and use that to "upgrade" my Dell with Vista. Then when I get the iMac, I will use that same product to do a new installation of Windows 7 on the iMac (and decommission the Dell). Is this the right approach? I don't think Windows 7 upgrade will work for the iMac part of the plan. Is this true? Will I be able to "move" Windows 7 full install from Dell to iMac?
What to do with my Imac 27" that goes suddenly black when using windows 7 enterprise, but computer still seems to be working, I can hear audio and the hard drive is still moving. Is it hardware or software problem? Sometimes it happens frequently, others does not happen at all.
how can i set up dual monitor display on my imac running window 7 with parallels? I have no problem when I run mac but when I run window, dual display doesn't work. I heard AND radeon has some problem with window 7 display setting.
just last night after i was finished playing skyrim for the night, i saw on steam that i had no connection. so i looked towards the internet bars icon next to the clock and saw a yello triangle with a "!" in it. so i disconnected and reconnected but still the yellow "!". so i just decided i would try again tomorrow (today).when i woke up today it didn't have that error, so i decided to go to Internet on chrome, but it had that "webpage not available" (wouldn't work for ie either). i figured it would soon fix itself like it always had, so i tried playing mw3 on my xbox, but it wouldn't connect to live either o.o and when my mom wanted to watch netflix on the living room xbox, she couldn't connect either! then i figured out it was definatly my modem that was refusing to connect to anything.
Can anyone advise how I would go about fixing this. I am trying to connect to a network (I have a dell running on windows 7) and it keeps telling me that windows is unable to connect to the network-this is before I can even enter the security key. I know it is not a problem with the wireless because other people are able to connect to it fine.
I have a large screen TV that I need to run PowerPoint presentations on, and maybe video. The IT department set up Cat5 from the PC to the TV, but I cannot get anything from the PC to display.
I am trying this on two different computers. One is XP Pro, and the other is Windows 7 Pro. I would prefer the XP machine, but will sacrifice the Windows 7 machine to this if I have to.
Both the PC and the TV show connectivity at the ports, but there is no display on the TV. Multiple Monitors do NOT show in either machine.
I CAN connect to internet just fine using my wifi BUT I CAN NO LONGER connect to 198.192.1.1!!! Any idea how to solve this problem? I'm using a Dell Insprion 1545 and Win7 32-bit. I never had this issue before, jut popped up when I tried using ICS on a different laptop, an IBM thinkpad T42 also using Win7 and connected to the same network via wifi. Again I can connect to the internet just fine on all my laptops, but 192.168.1.1 (for my netgear router) returns "unable to connect" page!!! have verified (via ipconfig) that my gateway ip is 192.168.1.1. I have valid IPs on all the laptops, but cannot connect to router setup page.
For some weird reason, when I click on the IE9 Quick Launch Toolbar or the desktop icon, I get instantly kicked out of connecting the screen flashes for a nonasecond and the then back to square one.If I repeatedly try connecting via an explorer link in my INBOX, that will sometimes let me into IE9 and once there, everything works fine thereafter!I have tried to uninstall IE but I cannot even find it in the list of programs that would permit such, part of the OS I guess?Even when established onto IE(, it is quite common to have messages advising that a "website error occurred and unable to display page etc looking for solutions"..Alternatively I have tried to reinstall it from various sites but get the message that a "later version of IE9 is installed, please uninstall this first etc. etc." running round in circles all the time I am!Just as an offsider and to avoid another post, on this TSG site, my cursor won't work with the directional arrows any more????? I have to position the mouse curser where I want it and then start from that position to type.I have also noticed the same issue on non TSG sites, just wondering if it is my keyboard playing up or yet another problem to wrestle with.
im trying to connect my pc to my tv but i cant. i have like a 15 second video of what im trying to do. i am trying to use vga composite? the yellow wire with the sound (sorry im a noob with computers, correct me if im wrong with any of this) it shows that its connected. but i cant change the resolution of the 2nd.
Im running Windows 7 64 Bit, my other pc has XP, the workgroup is the same on both systems, Im trying to access a printer thats connected to the XP pc but i cant see it,
When I open IE all I get is "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page." I know it is connecting to the internet because it downloaded the updates. I downloaded AVG, Adaware SE and Spybot Search and Destroy on another computer. I put these files on a cd. I tried to install AVG and Spybot but they wouldn't install because they couldn't connect to the internet to get the necessary files to install. I've had this problem on friends computer some time ago but can't remember exactly what I did to fix it
new windows 7 laptop connected to internet via our home network initially, now will not connect to internet. It says it is connected to our network, but says no internet access.
I changed my WPA password recently and have had no problem until tonight when I tried to connect for the first time on the windows 7 partition on my MacBook. It finds the network but when I try to connect it doesn't ask for the password, it just tries to connect and then comes up connection error and sends me to the useless troubleshooter. How do I tell it the password has changed?
There is a website I cannot connect to on my wifi connection, maybe it's my ip address? When I connect to my neighbors wifi I can connect to that site.I have tried start > run > cmd > ipconfig /flushdns.I have tried deleting all browsing data (cache cookies ect..)I have tried start > run > cmd > ipconfig /release and /renewAnd still nothing. Also I have tried unplugging my router for 5-10 mins to change my ip address and no luck there either.
I have a HP 620. And I cannot connect to the internet. The Wireless button on my HP is yellow, (I know regularly it's supposed to be white, but it's not.) When I click on the Wireless icon, it show's an ethernet cable and a computer with an X on it. It says " Not connected, No connections are available".
I am fixing my mom's cousin's laptop Dell Inspiron 1750, which is unable to access the internet. This system runs Windows 7 and can't connect to any router wirelessly. The ethernet port on the laptop also has some bent pins in it, so it can't connect through wire either. The first thing I did when I looked at this computer was connect it to my wireless router and I got the limited connectivity symbol in the taskbar. So I tried to ping and did ipconfig /release and /renew in cmd and that didn't work. I also did a /flushdns and that didn't work. So I went into the internet options and checked if the DNS setting were set to acquire automatically and they are. I have also uninstalled the dell wireless utility as I find it bloatware and unnecessary. I uninstalled the WLAN driver and reinstalled it and that didn't do anything. I then went into safe mode with networking and discovered that I was able to connect wirelessly there. So i figured it could have been the antiviruses (McAfee) firewall or malware of some kind. I downloaded malwarebytes and scanned and found nothing so I uninstalled malwarebytes and so I figured it was McAfee.
Most of the time, whenever I open a browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome) it takes 5-10 seconds before it will connect to any websites. The tabs just show the 'connecting' symbol spinning. This happens even if I'm only trying to open a single tab. It's not because the computer is going slow or anything, because I can still access other programs or do other things within the browser like open new tabs, view options, etc. It's not a problem with my internet connection, because while the browser refuses to load a site I can use the command prompt to ping the same site and I get a response immediately. This has only started happening recently, like in the past two weeks.
