Yeah, My laptop is downloading from somewhere.. and I don't like it..
I can tell because, I have a wireless light that flashes.. and when it flashes really fast, it means it's downloading.. but I really don't have anything that I am downloading.. It's just doing it on it's own and I'm sure I haven't got any program doing it.. It happens at random times & goes on for at least 20 minutes, sometimes longer
Is there any program I can download where I can stop my network card from downloading from a certain IP address or place.. like disable it from downloading from anywhere..?
when i want download anything it can not performed.unable to download message are displayed what i do?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new desktop computer, and I downloaded windows 7 64 bit home premium. when the download completed and it restarted a screen popped up asking for country/date/time, and now the computer is frozen. Is it okay to restart right now? They said not to restart during the setup process at the very beginning, but i don't know what to do, it's been like this for 15minutes. And i believe all the setup is done, once it restarted it just went straight to asking me about the time.
oh, and also i used custom installation becauuse the express one wouldn't work, saying i couldn't switch from 32 bit to 64 bit. dunno if this is relevant, but just thought i'd say.
I have Windows 7 and I use Avast antivirus. For some reason Java keeps downloading and update and trying to install Java 7.0, but it is everyday. I have taken just to denying the update after hearing that Java 7.0 might have security issues, but does anybody know why it won't install or keeps trying to install. Under the Java control panel it shows I have Java 7.

I have no problems with the internet, updates for programs regularly download, etc..On the failed downloads the error messages are: Codes: 643, 57, C355, 9. Updates either do not start to download at all or after about 20 minutes of preparing to download they will download and then fail.

View 8 Replies View RelatedHeres my inquiry. Just bought this laptop for the mother,
Toshiba Satellite L455-S5975
Brand Spiffy New...
So, having a tad worth of knowledge about laptops et al, i went ahead and created the necessary backups, restore cds, and the like, prior to using.
This will be sent home to my mother, who is quite fairly like all our mothers, who arent as computer savvy as we'd like our parents to be.
Anyways, tried to download CCleaner, as well as AVG, but noticed when the download window (grey old school download popup), it doesnt seem to continue.
First CCleaner says "unable to download from site, webpage not accessible blah blah blah...:
Second, AVG is STILL currently trying to do so as well.
I am also running on a wireless connection.
Browser is set to default values, nothing yet changed.
I recently built a PC in August for the first time and everything was working great until a few months ago. I believe the problems started when I flashed my Asus P8Z68-V motherboard with a BIOS from a different model. I finally discovered my error and flashed my BIOS to a correct version thinking this would stop the BSODs. It did not and the BSODs continue only when installing certain games on Steam and every time I "Verify Integrity of Cache", no matter what the game is. Other than these two scenarios my computer seems to run fine. I have gone through and updated all the drivers provided on the Asus product page. I also have the WHQL drivers for my nVidia GTX 570 and all the Z68 chipset drivers. I really don't know what else I can or should update as far as drivers are concerned.

Somebody said that i have too litlle memory for 64-bit Windows. Lets say thats true, will 2GB more be enouf? (4GB total) and how i will find same memory moduls almost 1,5 year after I bought this PC? Can they be different?
Win 7 Enterprise, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD, AM3+ processor running at 4000, 3 port firewire card, 2 monitors, the graphics system runs DX10 no problem, 8 1Tb usb HDDs running from powered hub. I have 3 camcorders all using the same video cassette type (Canon, Panasonic, Sony). I can see each on the devices and printers window and the IEEE 1394A devices are reporting no errors. Have tried each separately, all refuse to be seen by the software.Using either Adobe 2 (yes I know its old but it works) or MS Live Movieplayer each does not see any of the cameras. The cameras worked with the software on an old XP system. Where am I going wrong?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is in the right section but here goes.Back in Dec '09, I purchased Windows7 Pro upgrade. I put it on a computer but I eventually sold it (with WinXP). I have just recently built a new computer that needs an OS. I have a key for Windows 7 Pro just sitting around and so I thought I'd use that.Problem is, I don't have an install disk. And I don't have an operating system currently on it so I can't upgrade.I'd like to clean install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on that computer but to do that, I need to download it.I've tried logging into the Microsoft store but it says I don't have any purchase history. I know that is false since I have an email with my information (but the order number doesn't work either). So as you can see, I'm in a pickle. If anyone can suggest how to get a download of Windows 7 pro

View 9 Replies View Relatedwhen i open any webpage in firefox or ie8, it only sometimes loads. half the time, the progress bar will sit about halfway loaded, then eventually give a cannot connect to webpage error, and then when i refresh it will load almost instantly. the second problem is streaming of any sort, and downloading. streaming from any site, no matter how "fast" it is (Internet vs, say, msn), takes forever. i click play, it will buffer 1 second...play one second...buffer for 15 seconds and gain about 3 seconds of playable material.
occasionally, it will completely stop buffering and i will have to refresh the page to try again. also, something strange on Internet for me is that i have to wait until the video is completely done buffering to click on any other links on the page. for example, if i am watching x video, i have to wait until it is done buffering to click on and have y video successfully load. then it just repeats the buffering issue again. note that i can use "copy link location" options in firefox, restart the browser, and then paste it back in to get it to load without having the first video buffer all the way (sorry if that was a bit confusing, it's an odd problem).
downloading aspect is that it will start out fine (still with cruddy download speeds, 230 kb vs advertised 10 mb), then drop to 0 kbps and then eventually give me a cannot read source file. this applies to everything, essentially, from Internet (i download the videos to watch instead of waiting 30 minutes for a 2 minute video to load), to rapidshare and mediafire and even simple driver downloads. i think that is everything, if i remember something else i'll edit it ;p
i can't test the connection with an ethernet cable until basement construction is finished, and i can run an ethernet cable up from the new media center to my room. i am using the adapter "atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n dual-band wireless network module" that came installed with vista x64 on the original computer, which i upgraded to windows 7 and installed the "original atheros wireless lan driver" for windows 7 found here, which i then updated with driver-genius professional edition to the most recent version (yeah, i actually paid money to try and get this fixed...).
the only other thing i can think of which may be an issue, if the build of windows 7. every except the network is fully functional, so i am pretty sure that's not it. here is a ss just to be sure.
http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/4840/buildx.jpg
any questions, just ask. i really will try and help get this problem solved.
edit #1: i have a laptop, from hp, with vista x32 on the same network. runs beautifully, buffers fine, nice download speeds, and all the extra fluff that you can add to this list. but it has a different adapter, so that's why i'm thinking something is going on with the atheros. if you think that's the problem too, can you point me to a good non-usb wireless adapter?
im running build 7100 fresh install. help, i need to shut this thing down.

View 1 Replies View RelatedTried installing the updates individually and from the Microsoft Download Center. I also ran Microsoft FixIt, but that didn't help. I have been able to install other windows updates with no problems at all, but I can't download them. I believe that there is still a rootkit on this computer so I think that it may be the source of the problem. I have tried to remove the rootkit in the past, but I am not going to buy a whole new version of windows because of the rootkit.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have now taken over the formatting of laptops at my work place. We buy and sell second hand laptops, so want to erase all data before we sell them. Everything is fine, but the updates take forever, and need you to be around to continually restart the computer numerous times. I downloaded WUD and downloaded every update at once, but still found that they could not all be installed at once (Unless I did something wrong), So I was wondering if there is some way you can install all the windows updates at once, as that would save me so much time, as some of the updates take forever to install, making the whole process a good 4-6 hour job sometimes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows Update was telling me it was downloading an update but it just stayed at 0%. When shutting down I get the message Windows is configuring Updates etc. but nothing happens so I have to turn the power off. I tried restoring to an earlier point but it keeps happening, even with Automatic Updates turned off.Which leads me to believe there's some temporary files or something at work here.Currently I have disabled the Update service & everything is fine. What I want to know is which files I can delete which will hopefully solve my problem?
