I recently built a PC in August for the first time and everything was working great until a few months ago. I believe the problems started when I flashed my Asus P8Z68-V motherboard with a BIOS from a different model. I finally discovered my error and flashed my BIOS to a correct version thinking this would stop the BSODs. It did not and the BSODs continue only when installing certain games on Steam and every time I "Verify Integrity of Cache", no matter what the game is. Other than these two scenarios my computer seems to run fine. I have gone through and updated all the drivers provided on the Asus product page. I also have the WHQL drivers for my nVidia GTX 570 and all the Z68 chipset drivers. I really don't know what else I can or should update as far as drivers are concerned.
I've tried every possible way to try and get Deus Ex downloaded, just redeemed a code I got and it keeps saying "steam servers are currently too busy to handle your request"
I tried all the things steam says to do like change download location and etc. I can download other games but this one?
I'm not sure steam had anything to do with the crash the computer was idle and not really being stressed. The computer and its parts are all relatively new, some parts up to a year old. All drivers are up to date, as far as im aware. I think the bsod code was something lik 0x000000124. Any idea what caused it ? Driver or hardware related?
I've encountered this issue just now and want to make sure it is not anything too serious, there is not much to say save for the fact that as soon as I hit exit to desktop the BS appeared. My power supply unit is a very competent Corsair series unit, so I do not believe that would be an issue. I've attached the performance monitor report along with your Utility tool report. The operating system is a Windows 7 Ultimate on 64 bits, and the entire hardware is fairly new ( <2 months old ).
today i opened steam with no problem but when i was browsing the store it crashed, i reopened again and it would say "windows 32 expection" and some number i dont remember... then i tryed to open it with administator previlege and boom, blue screen system_service_expection
i just installed windows 7 yestarday and i played all day long with no problems, did a windows memory diagnostic extended and i also installed all the windows updates, sp 1 included
I just finished building my new pc and got it up and running today, but it has bluescreened six or seven times since I've been using it. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on it last night and the BSOD will pop up after 10 minutes of browsing or doing light work or even after playing a couple hours of Skyrim. Very random. I looked over some of the dump files to see a pattern but I think there are multiple things causing the BSOD. All of the hardware is new and this is my first time building a pc, though I am fairly certain that all of the hardware components are put together correctly, so I'm not sure if I need to upgrade a certain driver or what. My specs are listed under the profile and the dump files and health report are attached.
Laltely my computer has been BOSDing from basically everything I do. When ones is about to come on, my firefox starts crashing or my steam client stops responding. It seems that these are the triggers but i am not sure.I just built this computer a year ago and it had no problems until today.Specs:windows 7 home remium x64 this is the original os full retail version this system is about a year old I have reinstalled the os several times thinking it would be fixed so this installation is only a few hours old as I am typing out this thread.
I got this pc a few months ago. I have been able to play blizzard games (WoW and Diablo) fine but whenever I try to play a game I have downloaded from steam (total war shogun 2 and Borderlands 2) I get a BSOD code 101
Since last weeks I've had multiple BSOD's and it seems to happen mostly while I play games through steam. Games like GTA4, The witcher 2 and Sleeping dogs cause the crashes while I for some reason can play Shogun Total war 2 for hours without problems. Games that are not connected to steam, like Battlefield 3, seems to work good as well. I don't have any cd/dvd tools like Daemon tools installed.
I'm running a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an Asus K53 and I constantly get BSoD when I'm trying to download with uTorrent. I've attached the dump files.
while downloading files using utorrent, i got BSOD, then automatically restarted:3 tries after that with the same BSOD..i followed this thread and downloaded Windows 7 SDK, then i opened the dump files and found the line "Probably caused by : NETIO.SYS ( NETIO!RtlCopyBufferToMdl+1d )"and now i have no idea what to do with this info and how to fix the problem ( or even what exactly the problem is..),i added the 3 dump files (Minidump.rar), please would you tell me what is the problem and how do i fix it ?i've been very specific about my system information, specially about the details of my network cards
The BSoD has happened a few times over the last few days. Every time it reboots just fine. I have noticed it tends to happen while downloading or while watching a show using VLC player. My background programs include McAfee Enterprise 8 and TeaTimer (Spybot S&D). I am suspicious of the McAfee because the day after I installed it was the first BSoD
After reboot from most recent crash I copied the details from the "Windows just recovered from an unexpected error" box. Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen OS Version:6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID:1033
[Code].....
I have also attached the zip of dump from the SF Diagnostic Tool.
I downloaded the new iTunes 10.7 a few weeks ago and since then my computer has been crashing multiple times per day at what seems to be random times during the day often when I am using Firefox. I have tried re-installing iTunes and going back to old versions as well as restoring my computer to previous restore points but no luck. During this time I was also without any antivirus software but I almost positive that I don't have a virus and I am now back to using Trend Micro. At the blue screen i get DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message and NETw5s64.sys although I'm not sure if this is relevant.I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and I have tried updating some of my drivers because this was a proposed solution on the iTunes discussion board to a similar problem I was experiencing.
I've built this PC a week ago (first time) I installed windows, all the windows updates. I could get and drivers from my manufacturer(s) sites. However, when I'm downloading a file, or watching a movie, playing games it suddenly BSOD, I looked through the crash files, and almost every crash has been a different error.
My PC: Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth Z77 CPU: i5-2500k GPU: EVGA Geforce 670 2gb PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 600W RAM: 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance OS: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit retail.
Everything built and installed a week ago. Also, no overclocking has been done.
I am experiencing BSOD at random times. This is frustrating because I am pretty sure I eliminated all the possible reasons for my computer to Blue Screen. I changed my motherboard, I scanned my hard drive, got all the drivers for my video cards, etc. I also checked my ram one by one.
Now here is what info I got on my crash dump files On Sat 19/01/2013 6:32:11 PM GMT your computer crashed crash dump file: C:WindowsMinidump 11913-46285-01.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7EFC0) Bugcheck code: 0x1A (0x41287, 0x40, 0x0, 0x0) Error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT file path: C:Windowssystem32 toskrnl.exe [Log] .....
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time. Also when it Blue Screens I was able to get a copy of what the Technical information that caused the blue screen.
My son's account was limited, but after I installed Steam for him, he had to use "Run as" and then get me to enter my Admin account details so that he could run it. This was getting tedious so I changed his account to an Admin type. Is there a way to put his account back to Limited (Family Safety will then work again) and still run Steam without using "Run as" and me entering details every time?
this is actually a fairly common problem for people right now apparently, but the steam forums aren't any help thought I might pick a few brains here. The first time you start steam the log in always fails. The second time you start steam it logs in just fine. This appears to happen regardless of if it's set to start with windows or not. I've already played with most the network or environment variables that could be causing it. Just looking for other ideas at this point.
I accidentally forgot to close the steam account me and my brother share when i was deleting his account on my laptop and now it won't let me uninstall it because it says "this account is locked because another user is currently using it" or something like that.i was wondering if there was a way to "force" uninstall it? i would really like to know because i want to play some games
After installing Steam Client, the Steam Update is at 30% for 20 minutes. May i know what is the update for as i have not installed any game? And how big is the update?
I have been having problems trying to install Steam on my computer. Everything is up to date on the system. When I click on link through steam to install it starts the process however it gets to a window where it says updating steam and it hangs.I have no idea what else to do.Tried different browsers still same problem.I have Windows 7 pro 64
I don't know how it happened, but suddenly certain programs stopped showing any text. I think I may have accidentally deleted some fonts, but I have no idea how.More information in these screenshots.I tried using System Restore to restoringly restore a previous restore point, but it failed and asked me to try again. When I tried again all restore points had been deleted. Isn't that just awesome?Anyway, I think re-installing all fonts might fix this. So I would like to know where I can download all default Windows 7 fonts.
I am a little annoyed that after buying 2 games from EB Games today, Aliens V's Predator and Apox, they both need "Steam" to install properly. I have installed steam and it tells me that i have no internet connection. I have a wireless internet connection and steam does not pick it up at all. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, i have down loaded the latest steam from the web site and i still get the same problem.
I have bought mw2 from dick smith and installed it on my computer however whenever I try to go onto the single player or multiplayer it comes up with the error "Fatal Error steam must be running" and then exits to the desktop.
I forgot all my information and couldn't recover my Steam account. I went ahead and made a new steam account, now I want to load my games i have that need steam into my new account but it says it can't because it's been using on another account. Does anyone on her know how I can get the games from one account to my new account?
Steam recently messed up on me last week. Now, I have to wait around five minutes to log in. If I click on anything while logging in, Steam will crash. The same thing happens while launching a game. I've looked all over and have found several ways to fix it, but none of them work. People tell me "Well don't click on anything and it wont crash and you'll be able to log in or play your game." That isn't the case. It never did that before, there is no reason it should do it now. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, that did not fix the problem. I know most of the time when you uninstall something, it doesn't completely get rid of every file that it created or it installed. Most of the time, it just gets rid of the files that it installed in "Program Files" and/or "Program Files x86" and I want to erase everything, so I can try to do a clean installation of Steam. I'm talking about if there is any files left in my Registry or Appdata folder, I want them removed. So does anybody know of files that stay on your computer after it uninstalls? I already deleted a Valve folder that stayed in my Registry after uninstall. It was located at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareValve
i have been using windows 7 for a long time and it works great. but i have a problem. when i install steam it works perfect but when it tryes to update steam and it reach 20 % it says ERROR Steam.exe (main exception): ERROR: deleted steam.exe but the file is still there, so i try to run it as admin but there is no function that allows me to run steam or steam install as a admin. all other things i can run as a admin except steam i guess. and my UAC is not disabled its on recommended settings.
Recently I've been experiencing some issues with random crashes only with steam games. I've run furtest and passed. Downloaded SpeedFan and everything is nice and cool. All my drivers are up to date and my OS has installed all updates. I've also run multiple antivirus and malware to make sure I'm not infected.
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 925 2.8 GHz (OC to 3.03) RAM: G. Skill Ripjaws 8GB(2x4) 240 pin DDR3 1600 (12800) - (clocked at 1440) MB: Asus M4A89TD- Pro/USB GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 (OC) HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0 32MB cache PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 950W
I have no discs to burn memtest to, so is there any alternative? Also, these crashes have been happening since before OC.I opened up Event Viewer and found an error code under -Applications, labled: Source- WMI: Event ID- 10 "Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected."I would figure that if my GPU could pass furtest on the fullest test without it shutting down then my PSU is handling the load. Also I don't believe that 950W is too little for what I'm running.
