View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new PC it has Windows 7 Pro 64Bit OS. My old XP box finally died. I have my music drive which is external USB 500 GB drive Seagate Free Agent drive. I used in on my old system. I have about 110GB of music on it. It is my main music drive. I got some new songs that i wanted to add to the drive. I tried to make a new directory and I received a message saying that I don't have permission to create a folder. I tried creating a new folder within my music directory. I can create a new folder within the root of the drive but I cannot create a new directory where I want it. I am an admin on the PC so I even made sure that I was added as a user on the drive when I set permissions and sharing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have album artwork displayed for every album/directory in my music directory (D:Music) by using a folder.ico and a desktop.ini file.This method was used as a work-around to fix the deficiency in Windows Vista and 7 to no longer display front-facing album covers using the folder.jpg file.This work-around looks fantastic and actually looks better than XP because it's borderless.It also has the advantage of staying loaded into memory, which I have plenty of, until I restart the computer, unlike the use of folder.jpg, which has to be reloaded every time the directory is opened and scrolled.However, when I first open my music folder, it has to load all the artwork and I have to manually scroll through the entire directory until all of the folder.ico files are read.I have a very large library and this takes some time. I can set D:Music to open at startup, and it will read the folder.ico files for the visible albums/directories, but then I still have to manually scroll after that.Is there any way to force Windows to load the folder.ico files for every folder in my D:Music directory at startup, with no intervention from me? When I go to open or scroll through the music directory, all of my album artwork has already been pre-loaded into memory and thus it is a seamless flow of album artwork with no waiting.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning Windows 7 64bit, and for the past few weeks I cannot download anything or use firefox/internet explorer. My problem began when I wanted to watch Thursday Night Footbal, and stupid me downloaded a single file that was a bad torrrent software. I accepted the one bad piece of garbage torrent software, and then a whole list unwanted and unauthorized software were rolled out and executed on my laptop. These unwanted software incuded 'Babylon:Translate Toolbar" among other useless pieces of bad software. The moment I hit the dreaded open and run, I knew there was a serious problem and I should have neve done that.
I have run several scans in their updated state when I was able to download updated viruse definitions for: Norton, Windows Security Essentials, Spybot, and something on the microsoft website. Spybot and Win Sec Essentials both found some garbage. Malware and a no less than 2 Trojans. I deleted both, but that was just the beginning of my problems. Because from that point forward, I slowly lost my ability to download anything.I can open FF/IE, but cannot connect to a webpage. when I type something it the URL I get hourglass and "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" I received a similiar warning in FF.
I spent a few days trying to uninstall a whole lot of unused programs and anything i viewed as unessential, including Firefox, ComcastSpyware, anything "Real" or Yahoo or MS Live/Messenger. The only way i'm able to communicated no is through the 64bit version of IE. Anyway, i wanted to download Norton Virus Removal tool yesterday, and have come to the point now where I cannot download anything.This is by far the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my 10 years and 4 computer life span. I'm considering a clean reformatting and starting anew, but i don't have the windows disks I got with this computer that is now 3 years old.perhaps even a way to bypass this virus, redirect, or unwanted firewall that is preventing me from downloading or surfing the web. Or B) Provide instructions on how to do a comlete drive wipe and arrive at a clean disk reformatting excercise without any windows disks.
Note: I do not want to avoid a system restore of any kind, as I've found those to be more problematic in some cases. I have not doneany system restores in the three+ years i've had this machine.

I've tried a Command Prompt that should have disabled it, but no luck. I went to the AVG forum which is definitely not user friendly. I rang the free phone number only to find that a) I couldn't hear the operator and she couldn't hear me and b) it's only the phone call that's free - the service isn't.

If I uninstall and install 2011 I can sign in fine, which seems to rule out firewall/antivirus issues. Notified that "Could not connect to a System Event Notification Service". Went back to a restore point of 2 days earlier and got back to normal. However, Thunderbird e-mail client won't work and cannot be restarted. So rebooted and Windows update kicked in again and same problem. Looked at Windows updates and it cannot be uninstalled.

I couldn't find it anywhere, even with using search button, so I logged in on the mail through the browser and.. the mail was there. The same happens with some sent messages - some of them go directly to the sent elements and some of them dissappear inbetween and are not visible there.
