I have been having a few strange little problems lately. But there is only one thing that is reproducible: When both my audio driver and my network driver are enabled, and a sound is played, the sound infinitely stutters and windows totally freezes. (There is no BSOD, the screen and cursor just remain frozen). If either device/driver is enabled independently, the computer seems to work.

At my wit's end on this one. After a system crash a couple of days ago I found that my audio and wireless were disabled. Tried to restart the services but got error 1053 with wireless and error 1068 with windows audio. Have done the following: Checked for any virus malware: Macafee AV, Malwarebytes, Spysweeper and Sptbot. Nothing found.Tried starting in services on many occasions. Same issue.Installed up to date drivers. Rolled back drivers to original versions. Same problem.Ran troubleshooter in windows 7. Received notices that the services were stopped but could not be fixed.Ran windows fixes from Microsoft site with the same result as W7 troubleshooter.Downloaded copies of dll files and replaced them in win/system 32. Same problem.Ran sfc /scannow found no issues. I have my ASUS backup disk(s) so I can install the OS again but I don't want to lose the software I have already installed.

The file is 258mb but the flash drive has 408mb free, so it's not a memory issue or anything like that. I have no idea what is going on. Both PC's are windows 7.

When i go on to audio mixer it either crashes and says theres a problem, or i move it to turn the volume up, and it doesn't make a sound!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem playing live TV using Windows Media Player. I can select different TV channels without a problem. I can hear the audio clearly. However, i can not watch anything as it displays a black screen. I originally used WinTV (version 7, with the newest updated driver and software) and works fine. For video card, I have a GTX260 with the latest version (295.73) installed. I've tried different versions of driver (259.xx to 285.xx) to no avail. When I tried setting up the TV tuner it detects the tuner as Analog Cable (tuner 1) which I assume is the WinTV tuner.

Sometimes it goes for hours not giving me problems, but then at some point randomly pauses and continues, either at like half second intervals, few seconds, or even like 20 seconds after it pauses, it randomly plays again.
I play them off my hard drive and off my external, it's not my external that's the problem I don't think. I'm thinking maybe my wireless adapter is a problem? I don't know.
If I downloaded HijackThis and gave you guys or the guys there a log, would they be able to identify what's causing this, or would it just show as me clicking pause and play, because it does it by itself...

The Troubleshooter has not provided any answers, except for a reference to a generic sounding Intel high definition audio driver. I have not been able to locate this driver on the Intel web page or elsewhere online. How to enable audio on my edition of Windows 7.

Although my usb mouse and usb sound works fine. I have to then reinstall the usb composite devices in the device manager to fix the internet problem.

I don't know exactly what is happening with my computer but since the guild wars 2 beta weekend my computer would freeze make a very loud scratching sort of sound than the client would crash. At first I figured ok its just beta something isn't happy with my system, I figured it was just that cross fire wasn't optimized for the beta and that my 5970 had some cross fire structure to it with the dual gpu. Than while playing Sniper Elite v2 it happened again, not to the full extent of the loud noise but still there was scratching. After each time the games would crash all my other programs would crash as well, and when they did work they would be screwed up. I would try playing music and it would sort of work than have the static or scratching sound again, occasionally a beeping sound.
I have my audio drivers up to date and I have tested it out threw my screen speakers and my razer megalodon usb head phones. I have checked for a new mobo bios and haven't found anything new for it, I than checked to update my graphic drivers and brought them up to 12.4. I don't run anything but the drivers due to it making my system very unstable. I than did a complete wipe, did 8 passes over both my base hard drive and my 1 tb hard drive. Fully updated windows and my drivers again and I am still experiencing the same problems. I have my video card over clocked to 900 core clock and 1200 memory at 1.137 volts, its stable as can be. I also have my cpu over clocked to 3.7 ghz but I have never had a issue with it either, they both have been at these speeds for the past 2 years. The temps are all with in more than safe temps and I have just recently cleaned the entire computer.
Just finished doing memtext86+ for 5 passes and came up with 0 errors, I have also checked inside my event viewer logs for any critical events and can't find any.My system specs according to speccy:

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow i can reinstall my main audio drivers so they stay installed and so i don't have to uninstall and reinstall them at every startup. it still says it's in use if i try to test it before reinstalling. to reinstall it i've been going to playback devices, right click properties, click properties on the new window, change settings on the next, last window click the driver tab and uninstall. then i go to device manager and scan for changes. it's really a pita DISREGARD THIS: ok so i've been trying to port audio from firefox to reaper + asio4all and found that i can do it with VAC. i first tried another program called virtual audio streaming but that didn't work. when i got VAC i uninstalled VAS first. since i've had VAC installed i can't listen to anything over my monitor's speakers (have computer hooked to monitor with hdmi). if i have "Digital Audio (hdmi)" set as the default audio device, the audio won't even start. for example if a start a movie in vlc and then realize there's no sound i can't just switch the default device to something else (usually can do this) i have to stop the video select a different device and start the video again. flash stuff online just won't play until i change the device. if i try to go to the properties of "Digital Audio (hdmi)" > advanced > and hit test it tells me the device is being used by another program. this was making me think that maybe it was because VAC was using that device to port the audio from windows or something. didn't really make complete sense but i uninstalled VAC, restarted my pc and it still does the same thing. i tried uninstalling the drivers (windows default drivers, the downloadable drivers IDT high def audio cause problems with other programs so i don't use them and would prefer not to) and restarting so they would reinstall but that did nothing.

Sometimes it recovers itself, sometimes it crashes and turns itself off completely. I read a thread about this very issue from 2011, but the link provided to go to Intel to get the latest driver leads to nowhere. I cannot find a place to go to update the driver. I manually downloaded SP1 and installed it and it is working fine. My question is: do I still need to update the driver, and if so, where do I get it from? Neither HP nor Intel is any help here. And would this driver cause IE9 to crash? The computer came with IE8 on it, but I installed IE9 in Nov. 2011. Shortly after, I was getting a message like "Internet Explorer has stopped working". I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE8, but I had the same problem there as well. IE8 worked fine until I upgraded to IE9. Then I uninstalled IE8 and changed to IE9, where I still have problems. I have contacted MS Support about this, and one option given was to reformat the hard drive, which I really don't want to do. They were concerned about the fact that SP1 was not offered and hinted that the computer would be more vulnerable to problems without it installed. My firewall and anti-virus have turned up nothing. I use Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

The problem is I get a BSOD doing the following: 1. Change resolution 2. Change Refresh rate 3. Change Primary/secondary monitors 4. Load a game that changes the resolution
The following do not: 1. Setting Over-scan 2. Setting 3d settings 3. Under clocking GPU [Anything else on the system including playing games that do not change the resolution]. I have about 20 hours into setting up this system and have already wasted an activation on it. I need a way to adjust the resolution without a BSOD occurring every time (note changes are lost). I'm looking for some kind of solution to this issue.
Well this time it isn't a hardware problem. Like I said, I've been starting to get random, yes completely random, nvidia driver crashes. My screen will flash a few times and eventually just BSOD. Basically I've tried reinstalling drivers and rolling back drivers but the problem persists. I installed vista on a separate partition thinking there was some kind of weird conflict and whadya know, Vista, of all things!!, works perfectly.
That's how I know it's software. So my question to you guys is, is there anyway for me to fix this without reinstalling 7? I have a lot of data on there and it would be a major hassle for me.
Secondly, is there any way to reinstall 7 but to keep all of my settings and files? Like literally just replacing the OS files.
If there isn't I guess I just have to face the music and copy everything to the other partition and then copy it back ..
While the system is running (most of the times while playing, other times doing other thing like video-calls or even being idle on the desktop) the video drivers crash, creating distorsions and artifacts on the screen. Sometimes the pc manages to recover it, sometimes it crashes/bsod forcing me to reboot. Also, when i have to reboot i must shut down the pc and turn off the PSU because with a simple reboot the problem would start as soon as windows finishes its startup. After trying different versions of the video drivers, different hardware configurations and stress-testing the CPU and the RAM of the video card withount encountering any errors, i noticed that the problem affetcs only my video card/drivers under WIN7 (Ultimate 64bit). In fact, under XP i never encountered such errors. I don't know what other things i could do to understand and solve the problem.
