i was playing a game in google chrome and also had a Internet video open in another tab. suddenly my screen went black, windows aero effects were off for a few seconds, then they went back up. white bars started to appear randomly on the screen, an error popped up that the video driver had crashed. after a couple of seconds it looked like it was getting back but then the screen went black again and the bsod appeared.
View 1 RepliesWhile the system is running (most of the times while playing, other times doing other thing like video-calls or even being idle on the desktop) the video drivers crash, creating distorsions and artifacts on the screen. Sometimes the pc manages to recover it, sometimes it crashes/bsod forcing me to reboot. Also, when i have to reboot i must shut down the pc and turn off the PSU because with a simple reboot the problem would start as soon as windows finishes its startup. After trying different versions of the video drivers, different hardware configurations and stress-testing the CPU and the RAM of the video card withount encountering any errors, i noticed that the problem affetcs only my video card/drivers under WIN7 (Ultimate 64bit). In fact, under XP i never encountered such errors. I don't know what other things i could do to understand and solve the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell this time it isn't a hardware problem. Like I said, I've been starting to get random, yes completely random, nvidia driver crashes. My screen will flash a few times and eventually just BSOD. Basically I've tried reinstalling drivers and rolling back drivers but the problem persists. I installed vista on a separate partition thinking there was some kind of weird conflict and whadya know, Vista, of all things!!, works perfectly.
That's how I know it's software. So my question to you guys is, is there anyway for me to fix this without reinstalling 7? I have a lot of data on there and it would be a major hassle for me.
Secondly, is there any way to reinstall 7 but to keep all of my settings and files? Like literally just replacing the OS files.
If there isn't I guess I just have to face the music and copy everything to the other partition and then copy it back ..
the last couple times I've sent my laptop to hibernate I have had driver power state failure BSODs. I usually have some programs like Chrome and Spotify open. I rarely shut down so I'm unsure if the problem is specifically related to hibernation.I have attached minidumps and updated my profile info with hardware specs.

I have just updated it as well but the problem is still there. The BSOD occurs from few minutes to several hours after booting.(NOTE: I haven't reinstalled the windows since last 1.5 years and it is the same OEM windows that came with the laptop.

This does not happen immediately in games, it appears to be random.I reset all my BIOS settings just in case it was my overclock, but i had another this afternoon afterwards.

-About 1 year old computer
-OS install about a year as well
I was updating video driver for radeon 4750 through Steam and all of sudden I got a bsod.. should've wrote it down but instead I just tried to restart. It freezes during windows logo screen and when I try to boot on safe mode it gets stuck loading atipcie.

-both disc drives are nearly full

-for about half a year my computer has had minor glitches when playing Internet videos or music
so i was on the surfing the internet and my monitor suddenly goes completely black. the fan was still going and the lights were still on, but i couldn't interract with the computer because i had no display whatsoever. about an hour beforehand i had been converting some hd video files, which was probably using up a lot of memory, and i had been skyping too. the computer had been running a lot more slowly over the past couple of days, but had shown no signs of being about to break. so i turned the computer off and then tried to reboot it. the acer logo appeared, but after that nothing else happened, not even the 'start windows normally' screen. the mouse still lit up and the computer seemed to be alive, but it downright refused to display anything at all. when i briefly tilted it, however, the display popped up for another millisecond. i tried rebooting this morning, at which point the 'acer' screen briefly flashed up. i managed to start it up in 'safe mode' and the core features of the computer appear to be working. however, when i tried to access the internet, the error '0x80131018' appeared. (this may be completely irrelevant but every piece of information helps!) so we can basically rule out that the monitor is playing up, which makes me wonder how far inside the computer the problem is hidden.
A friends PC keeps crashing after a few hours of usage (watching movies, listening to music). I've been attempting to troubleshoot it but I'm not to sure about how to find the cause of the problem. Based on my google search, which led me here, it's caused by either RAM, HDD, Drivers or overheating. I have the three individual crash dumps attached.The video card I am using is new to the system and has had its drivers updated to Nvidia's latest (not those from the manufacturer's homepage).My guess is that I'm either having some kind of conflict with drivers here or that my PSU is inadequate but without being able to decipher the information in the dumps I can't tell. I just bought two identical Asus Desktop computers. The first one works fine. On the second computer, when I login into Windows, I receive a BSOD (that happens right after I enter the login password). It happened on my very first startup attempt so I did not install anything. (I only managed to select my language and create a user in the Windows setup process). I tried uninstalling the trial version of TrendMicro but it did not solve the problem.

I use MakeMKV and it usually runs fine and doesn't give my problems. However, I have had problems encoding the MKV files with Handbrake v0.9.5. Here are my system specs:

Intel Core i5-2500K (overclocked to 4 GHz)
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B)
ASRock Pro3 Gen3 Mobo (latest BIOS update 2.30)

Nvidia GTX 560TI graphics card (slightly overclocked,can't remember speed)

The case also has plenty of fans (7 to be exact). 2 intake fans in the front, 1 intake in the side, 1 intake on the front of the cooler, 1 outtake on the rear of the cooler, and 2 outtake on the back and top. So the tower is staying cool. I'm running AXTU Hardware Monitor during the encoding and temps are staying steady around 50C, which I've heard are normal. The encoding is about 50% now and so far no crashes or spikes in temperature.I thought the memory may be the culprit and I ran MemTest86. It returned one error after a few hours of running. I have not taken the RAM out to test each module or clean the slots. The timing is set at 9-9-9-24 and I dialed down the speed to 1333 from 1600.
